I'm going to be hosting a LAN party at around christmas, i need ideas for which games we should play..... This is just for discussion of games.

If you want to give me advice on running or planning the LAN party, that would be greatly appreciated. But please post them in my other thread, since these two threads are different.

    Age of Empires 3

    Battlefield 2
    Counter Strike: Source

Is the half life 2 deathmatch thing worth it at all?

unreal 2004 is great for lans, thats tons of fun.

WC3 is also great, the map the summoner is so much fun when it is filled up.

stepmania is good for the end when people have already fallen asleep and you are awake and bored.

    maybe try some racing games.

well you can always buy it again. but you don't need a cd key for a lan. we all used my copy at the last lan we had. or at least all used my cd key.

COD4 and Counter Strike, if you're into team games. I still love owning 1 vs 1, so I'm a quaker by heart Quake 4.

    Definitely counter strike, source right?

COD4 would also be up there.

I'd like to have one or two games where there's a tournament involved, i'll be getting sponsored prizes.

Age of Empires 2 (an oldie but still a hell lot of fun with a full map, well, even half map is good)
    AoE 3 is enjoyable.
Warcraft 3 is a must (DoTA/foots/and a whole lot more, suits almost everyone)
    Starcraft !!
    CS:S & 1.6.
    BF2
Hmm...speaking of FPS lan games, any good CO-OP FPS out there?

Anything and everything UT, whther its the original, 2003, 2004, ect. The UT series is amazing and still loads of fun. Also Team fortress does very well as a team based LAN game.

    no, most are FPS games.

you could get people to compete in street fighter 2 or 3... that will be a good tourny game.

I think most FPS will work great for LAN parties. Also, as mentioned by brainer, DotA is amazing for LAN parties. Use to play it a lot at the LAN parties I attended!

I reccomend Real time strategy games over FPS games. Starcraft is always a favorite at LAN parties.

and if there are people who like mgs/sc/hitman/thief type of gameplay... check splinter cell chaos theory as it offers the multiplayer mode allowing some to play sam fisher's clones and others do the little guards' justice :D

the best lanparty games are games that peoiple like...........if everyone likes racing games, there's no point in tellign them to play aoe2.

i would get suggestions from people actually attending.
