I don't know about XP media center but I have XP Pro on my desktop and XP home on my laptop and both seems to be at same level in terms of gaming performance.

That is basically what I have as well right now.
XP Pro on desktop and XP Home on laptop.
I have a copy of MCE and was wondering if I should load it on one or the other.

different versions of windows xp have no impact on game performance. but if you are not going to use the features in mc and pro, you should stay with winxp home.

I don't think you'd notice a difference. Unless you have a specific need, there is no reason to pay extra for Pro or MCE.

Don't think it matters. MCE will use more RAM at idle, if that's an issue. I believe you need 512MB to run it comftorably.

The only reason I'd get Pro is if I wanted to join a Windows Domain or was networked 24/7. MCE isn't that useful unless you like watching and recording TV on your computer. It also looks nice than stock XP, but I wouldn't pay extra for it.

Well I own all 3 versions and I did not have to pay for them, so cost is not an issue.

Thanks for the input I think I will just leave things the way they are. XP Pro on the desktop and XP Home on the laptop. I will save XP MCE for when I build a home entertainment unit.

    Again thanks for the input.
