I just wanted to get a few opinions as to what the best games for each genre on the pc are. Maybe if people want to just give a list of thier favorites(with explanations if you want, if not I'll do the research), of RPG, MMO, 1st person shooter (based on multiplayer merit), Strategy, Action/Adventure and whatever else you feel is a great game (there are just too many for me to research them all)
Hopefully there is lots of input![]()

RPG:Still Oblivion
MMOrobably WoW, Eve Online, Guild Wars
FPS: CS:S is a classic, BF2, BF2142
Strategy: Supreme Commander, Company of Heroes, Rise of NAtions:Rise of Legends -
Strategy: Starcraft
-
RPG: Oblivion or Dink Smallwood (it's free, and 8-direction bird's-eye-view, not great graphics). The latter because of how entertaining it is. Made me laugh out loud half the time I was playing.
MMO: Eh, haven't played many, but when I did it was GunzOnline. Haven't run that in over 2 years.
FPS: Day of Defeat. It's perfect. Just got it last week, and have had tons of fun.
Strategy: Civilization IV. A beauty.
Adventure: Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb -
Strategy: Company of Heroes, Civ IV, Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars
RPG: Oblivion
FPS: CS:S, BF2 is another favorite.
So pretty much I agree with Fusionburn. -
racing: gtr, the trackmania series is fun
aircraft: mfsx -

RPG: Fallout
MMO: Ultima Online (a long time ago)
FPS: HL2 (maybe, i havn't played very many)
Strategy: Starcraft -
Sneaky_Chopsticks Notebook Deity
RPG: Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion (with expansion packs)
FPS: Not CSS, it's the same thing as the other previous counter strikes, and there are no new weapons. It just got a facelift.
I recommend Battlefields 2 & 2142.
Strategey- Definitely Company of Heroes and Command And Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars -
RPG: Fallout
MMO: WoW or Eve Online. (WoW is pretty much the ultimate MMO in the EQ/WoW/"traditional" subgenre. Eve Online kicks ass as a different type of MMO.
FPS: HL or HL2 (Oh wait, based on multiplayer merit? Team Fortress Classic, the HL mod)
Strategy: Dawn of War in the plain RTS genre. Best turnbased has to be Civ4. Best hybrid is Medieval: Total War (the first one)
Action Adventure: Beyond Good & Evil (Also probably the most well-rounded game. It had beautiful graphics, both technically and artistically, great music and voice acting, great setting and storyline, and the whole game just oozed atmosphere. -
RPG: Diablo or Dungeon Siege
FPS: Half Life
Strategy: Starcraft or Command and Conquer
Action/Adventure: Myst (though not much action)
-
Strategy: Command and Conquer 3
-
Strategy: Dawn of War/Company of Heroes
FPS: Armed Assault (if you have a machine to do it justice)
RPG: Neverwinter Nights
Simulation: Silent Hunter III
