SimCity 2000!!! Seriously.....it was the best "Sim" game (in addition to Sim Copter, where you could do missions within the Sim City)

You can get missions in SC4 with the Rush Hour expansion. If you are playing for the missions though, you might be in the wrong genre...

i agree, Sim City 2000 was probably the best out of the series

it was released in 1993, so it's like the old Sega ones. I mean if you care about graphics, then Sim City 4 should suit that need.

Oddly, I still find the original game the most entertaining. Even though I have to play at the slowest possible speed on my modern system or else the game goes insane and runs through 100 years in a few minutes. There is something soothing about the topdown view and the simplicity of laying the pre-sized little blocks for each type of construction. SimCity 2000 added so much depth and the isometric view, but that took some of the charm out of the system for me by overcomplicating things. I did like that the railroads worked logically in SC2K and the ability to rename and personalize the individual buildings.

    Hello everyone,

I myself agree that SimCity 2000 is the best. Out of a major coincidence, check the site I found yesterday:
    http://www.vetusware.com/

One of the free (abandonware) games it has is precisely SimCity 2000! So go ahead and grab it, if by any chance you don't have it anymore, or if you never had it and want to try it.

To run it, you can use DOSBox, which you can get from here:
    http://www.dosbox.com/

    Some notes:
    1) For some reason, the "sc2000.cfg" file was read-only when I extracted it, you need to allow write permissions to run "install.exe".
    2) In DOSBox you will need to mount your hard disk to run the game. To do that, type "mount c c:\games\sc2000" (assuming you unzipped the SC2000 archive to that folder), then type "c:". You can then just type "sc2000.exe" to run the game.
    3) You can speed up your DOSBox processor speed by using CTRL-F12 if the game is too slow.

I was a huge fan of Sim Tower (came out just after Sim City 2000), mainly because I liked focusing on one building instead of a whole city + it was loads of fun.

Sim City 4 and the Rush Hour Expansion pack are my favorites. I can spend hours (used to) playing these. Plus with all the user made content found all over the web, this game is made so much better.
