What's the best switchable graphics card available right now? I'm looking in particular at 14" models and like the Asus u45jc, but wished it had a better card.

And are there new switchable cards expected to come out any time soon? I can wait a couple of months if it's worth the wait.

MSI GT663 has GTX460M Optimus, but is not released yet. Lenovo Y560 has a HD5730+HD swetup. HD5650+HD is the most powerful gpu I've seen in the Lenovo Y460/Acer 4820TG.

Another way of doing switchable graphics is via expresscard or mPCie slot as a DIY ViDock. US$220/$280 for a GTS450/GTX460. Synthetic benchmarks giving noticably better performance than say a mobility HD5650.

I don't think the IdeaPad Y560 has switchable graphics - it's often offered with quad-core Core i7 processors, which as of yet do not have onboard graphics.

The Y560 does have switchable graphics if you get a CPU with onboard GPU. That means an i3/i5 or i7-620M. The i7-xxxQM quad cores don't have an onboard GPU.

One of the Clevo models is now available with the 460M and Optimus together, along with the 5650 option mentioned earlier that's probably the two best choices for the OP to consider.
