I've been trying to find an alternative to fraps with no luck, i like fraps in general but i don't want to pay money for something like this, and i can only record 30 seconds unless i buy it!!! So are there any free programs that work well?

I think he's talking about a video recorder, not FPS display.

In which case Xfire has a video record option that outputs uncompressed video files just like FRAPS. Xfire also has the option to upload them directly to their website, and can display an FPS overlay. The only downside to Xfire's in game video recording is that it is much more CPU intensive than FRAPS and will either require a more powerful PC, or a lowered resolution.

With your notebook you should be able to record with Xfire in the native screen resolution your using smoothly enough though, as long as you don't plan to record videos in 1080P or another equally high resolution on an external monitor.

Probably because you have fullscreen and stuff

FRAPS cant record and compress all at once or else you will lose half your FPS in game

You will have to compress the video after you take it

And dont use full screen res
