    Hey gang,

I'm looking for a little boost in performance on my 6990m but don't want to OC too much. It is a laptop, after all.

I'm currently running factory settings. Please see attachments for clock/mem speeds and driver info.

    Clevo P150HM [email protected] 8gigs DDR3 6990m

Any suggestions on stable clock/mem settings? I don't want to touch the voltage, and I'm thinking it might be best to avoid the GPU clock as well. Perhaps there is a slight boost to be gained from simply upping the memory clock?

all clock increases will increase your temps...no way around it

I think for Clevo 6990's, a nice conservative OC is 800/1050

    Thanks, Slickdude.

So, I did a few things. First, I updated my drivers to Catalyst 12.4 using AMD's Catalyst Mobility installer utility tool.

Then I OC'd my GPU clock to 740 MHz and Memory clock to 980 MHz. These are completely stable and hold good temps.

    My problem:
When I play games (a beta that shall remain unnamed and Tribes Ascend) my FPS is TERRIBLE. Like, single digits terrible.

Do you think that I made a mistake when upgrading to the new drivers? Should I have not used the Mobility utility tool?
If so, how do you recommend I fix this situation? I'm always a bit hesitant to upgrade drivers because I always run into issues like this, so I would REALLY appreciate any help or link to some step-by-step guide.

    Thanks,
    T
