As a few other people have said, play Ultima Online on a freeshard, you won't regret it, and here is why.

Ultima Online has been the most innovative MMORPG ever made and no other game developer out there has even come close to the amount of diversity and depth that is within Ultima Online. You want a house? You can go buy a deed and place it anywhere in the world you want that has enough room for it. Want to be a Fighter? Go ahead, train your skills in swords or macing or fencing or whatever. Want to be a mage? Train your magery. Want to be a Fighter/Mage then train your skills in both! With the opportunity to learn 7 skills to 100.0 percent there is PLENTY of combinations you can do. Want to pvp against other people? Just run out of town and beat the crap out of the nearest person you see, and take everything he was carrying. If you die, you lose everything that you are carrying that is not in your bank. Want to find some phat lewt or go deep into one of the dungeons, then go by yourself or with a group of people.

The crafting in this game is also unsurpassed by any MMORPG I have played yet and I have almost played them all. So if you are interested in playing a 10 year old game that has decent graphics and more depth than any other MMORPG out there, look no further than Ultima Online. If you are looking for a freeshard to play on, check out UO:Gamers Hybrid. http://www.uogamers.com With over 1500-4000 people playing at a time on ONE server, what more could you ask for?
