Just got my dv6tSE and I'm looking for some games to play on it, and I don't really want to buy any yet. What's everyone's favorite free to download game? I like RPG, shooters, anything really, just as long as it'll run on my laptop.

Well, first off go download Steam

Once that is complete, download Alien Swarm for free and visit This Thread to download any other free games from Steam.

Then I would just click on Steams Demo link and go to town with a bunch of great free demos. Definitely pick up the Mass Effect 2 Demo.

    here's a good free shooter :D
also take a look at toribash. its free. It has a steep learning curve in the beginning but once you get used to it its awesome game. its a game where you move each joints of your body and you fight with another dude :D

The two original Elder Scrolls games, Arena and Daggerfall, have both been released as freeware by Bethesda. You might have to tinker with DOSBox to get them to work, but they are wicked fun. If you come across the money, I highly recommend buying the third and fourth games, Morrowind and Oblivion.

Combat Arms is a pretty decent free FPS. It's no Call of Duty, but it's hard to complain if you don't pay for anything. :p

Also, many popular games that cost money have free demos or trials. Battlefield 2's demo version is quite nice; the map it includes happens to be my favorite map of the game.

I can't say that its like steam since you don't really buy games or chat with your friends. Its just like a fast way to launch the games and i can't really say tha its annoying

It's free and it surely looks very good.

Just a small hassle when you have a new account to pass the tests they have ingame but onces that is complete the online part is very good!!
