I will be taking a 14 hour flight in 2 weeks, with a 3 hour stop in Paris. Naturally, I'm gonna need something to do during that time, so what better than to play games! :)

I have an Asus W3J (X1600), and I will have access to a power outlet during the whole flight, so that's not a problem.

What game would you play in my case? I am open to suggestions.

Yeah, and yell "I'm gonna crash this plane!" while playing. That'll get you some attention.

well assuming you're just going to be using the touchpad, fps and rts games aren't too fun to play on the touchpad

i suggest a turn based game like civilization (4) or heroes of might and magic (5)

Well... Diablo II would be a quite nice possibility.
Sure, the SPM isn't very fascinating for a long time, but I think it would be fine for the duration of your flight.

You might be able to squeeze in a little wireless mouse space. Put a book on your lap. I'm all for Wc3 and FPS games. Try playing through the campaign on one. I normally don't, in favor of the multiplayer.

Oblivion, without any doubt. Your X1600 should play it great!

Yeah, a turn based strategy game would be good and quiet. What about Oblivion?

I can just imagine playing an FPS and screaming "BOOM HEADSHOT!!" many times in the middle of the flight like fps doug http://www.break.com/index/toomuchcs.html :D

If you like strategy-type games, Rome: Total War is pretty good. If you get into it, it could occupy you for the entire flight.

Agreed. I played RTW last year for weeks and it's a fantastic game indeed, I think I'm going to go with Oblivion since it seems to be pretty addictive so it will make time fly by fast, pun intended :p

Is Oblivion easily playable with the touchpad though, or will I need a mouse?

I second the vote for Civilization 4. I'd also suggest Scorched3D as a free, nifty 3D strategy game, and Sudoku, a game you can play without cussing and scaring other passengers ;)

I also highly recommend getting the Really Slick Screensavers. They always make other people jealous ;)

3 for Civ 4, great game to waste alot of time on. Solitare is also good, same with 3D Space Cadet Pinball, love that game.

Or play NFS most wanted. You don't need a mouse with that game.

    ugh

    civ 4 is okay

i just don't get how archers could ever bring down modern gunships, can't believe they didn't fix that aspect of the game were spearman can actually defeat armored tanks and such

good game for fun, but i think a little biased in terms of history and not really too realistic

i'd recommend black and white 2 where the pace isn't as fast as oblivion, which is an awesome game but quite hard in my opinion to play on a touch pad.

EDIT: pulsar's advice is good, play a racing game, no mouse required and still insanely fun

Command & Conquer: The First Decade
10 years of C&C games in one box.
C&C, red alert, red alert 2, tiberian sun, renegades, generals, and all the addon packs for every game (for a total of like 12 "games" )
If you play them all, you'll probably be playing for months. :p
Can be had for under $40 at most online stores.

    It's my current addiction. heh.
