I figured we should have one of these threads for 2008
i hate to say it but my best game is the original tribes. I love that game
-
Ive poured an unreal amount of time into Fallout 3, incomparable to the weak Far Cry 2, Call of Duty 5, or Red Alert 3. BF2 is still high in my charts along with CS:S
-
Starcraft 2? Maybe?
-
Dead Space is well up there, as well as Crysis Warhead
-
GTA4 maybe. Or the new Prince of Persia.
-
COD5 was plain great... GTA4 when it comes out.. i have Enjoyed Stalker:Clear Sky and Farcry 2 the most.. killing spree! ofcourse, when PoP comes out
-
Dead Space is high on my list. Can't really think of anything else right now that screams "must play".
My laptop has been in repair for the last month, so I haven't been able to experience Fallout 3 yet. -
I second SC2!!! (even though it's not officially out)
edit: 10 more posts til 1337 -
deadspace and Left 4 dead are high on my list :O
-
BenLeonheart walk in see this wat do?
deadspace is nice... fallout 3 also...
-
Which platform? Definitely GTA IV. In PC, the majority of them were moderate.
-
is there an official release date for SC2 yet?
-
fallout 3 definately is on top of the chart for my list this year. left 4 dead is also very high up there. i would say both games deserve to be in the top 10 list of best games of 08.

left 4 dead is great game
-
+1 for GTAIV when its out. I reckon it'll be sweet, if my processor doesn't break while trying to play it!
-
Left 4 Dead just came out, but its GOTY for me already.
-
Where Unreal Tournament III and World in Conflict released in 2008?
-
In order for me.
1.) Dead Space
2.) NHL 09
3.) COD 5
4.) Fallout 3
5.) Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway (I loved that game) -
I just remembered Mass Effect PC came out this year. It's definitely my #2 after Dead Space.
-
I throughly enjoyed Crysis Warhead.
-
1) Dead Space
2) Bioshock (did this come out this year for PC?)
3) Mass Effect
To play:
Fallout 3
Left 4 Dead -
Warhead and DeadSpace.
-
Mass Effect was very good.
I see Dead Space on these lists as being good, what's the gameplay style like? -
Think resident evil 4
in space
...
on steroids -
Honestly I've only played Crysis Warhead and Mass Effect PC this year. I have to go with Warhead since I never finished Mass Effect.
-
-
fallout 3
stalker clear sky
Dead space -
left 4 dead is the best game ive played so far that was released this year, though i havent played fallout 3 yet, and it looks amazin.
-
Of the few games I've played, I would say NWN2: MOTB with Crysis: Warhead coming in second. Seeing as how I enjoyed Oblivion (which seems to be a rarity these days) but haven't played Fallout 3, I'm sure that would be up there too.

Left 4 Dead , I tried Deadspace with all the good things people said about it, but I don't like the clunky control feel and too hard to be precise for me at least. (I play with mouse sensitivity of 12.6 on CS:S ) May try fallout 3 eventually
-TNK -
I'd also have to say Left 4 Dead. Great game.
-
I got some pretty bad scares with Dead Space. All alone in my room, lights turned off, my Bose headphones screaming loud.
I had to stop playing it for a while, but it's a great game!
Was disappointed with Fallout 3, waiting on GTA IV, still playing Mass Effect.
My nominees are:
Mass Effect, GTA IV and the new Prince of Persia! -
Team Fortress 2 FTW
Altho i also love the traditional UT4, and EVE Online with its new shiny graphics. -
Metal Gear Solid 4 wins everything, even thought the competition this year is huge. Also GTA4, Crysis Warhead (it wont get my vote until they release a patch fixing those memory leaks), FarCry2, Fallout3, RedAlert3 - those are my nominations
-
fallout 3 and crysis warhead is up on my list. CoD5 was really good but it lacks innovation. yet to try dead space and left 4 dead. red alert 3 was a bit disappointing, NFS undercover was extremely disappointing
-
Keeping it to the PC
Sins of a Solar Empire
Fallout 3 -
I'd have to say Left 4 Dead and oddly enough...Spore. Looking forward to GTA though, and (though not releasing this year), F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, coming out next Feb.
-
-
For me there would be a few, been a lot of great games this year the ones that come to mind are:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky (after they finally fixed most of it with 1.5.07 patch)
Dead Space
Left 4 Dead
Fallout 3
Crysis: Warhead
Call of Duty: World at War
Thats all I remember for now, and in no particular order. -
-
I wasn't really a big fan of a lot of the games that came out in 2008. IMO they worried about graphics way too much instead of focusing on the actual game play and in-game bugs/usage (Crysis for example). I think Portal would be my vote, just cause for me that game was very original and it created a new experience for me.
Don't get me wrong though COD was fun, but i'm just starting to get kind of warn out on WW based games. :-/
EDIT: Portal came out in late 2007, my bad -

Dead Space, definitely.
-
I may as well submit my pick for Best Game of 2009 now:
Starcraft 2
(with Dragon Age coming in a close second.
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Only played two new games this year so far and they are awesome imo.
Dead Space
Far Cry 2 (I know everyone else was so disappointed, but I really like it *shrugs*)
Yet to play but definite contenders:
Left 4 Dead
Fallout 3
Mass Effect
Prince of Persia -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
im so tired of the numbers stacking up on the right side of titles...
Call of Duty 5??!?! There have been like a billion calls of duty. This one is nothing special. Doesn't that mean the series is aging and should move on now?
I feel the same way about far cry (even though it didn't make it as far, and the sequel is unrelated).
I am super happy about fallout 3 and left4dead. (i don't really see fallout 3 as a sequel either) -
What about Spore? I never got into it because Im not a big fan of that type of game play. It seems like its an original idea and a good game. I watched a few friends play it and it seems awesome, if you're in to that type of game
