I just figured most people on here are asking about modern games n so forth, it'd be nice to have a thread where people w/ integrated graphics share games they enjoy playing and the performance they get out of them etc. I wouldn't mind knowing a decent list of games/recommendations that are maybe 3+ years old but still able to purchase to play on my laptop.

Lets not go TOO far back on integrated though. Stuff like the X3100, Go7150, Go6150, ATI X1270/1250/1200, Ati X1100, Intel GMA 950 type stuff.

I for one downloaded the demo of that older game American McGee's Alice and could max it out. Just hated though that there wasn't joystick/gamepad control options (never been much of a KB+M person).

What other integrated graphics-level games do you all enjoy? (and please no 'elite' silly responses like "Solitaire is all they can handle!")

I would suggest World of Warcraft, but I don't want to get you addicted to that game like I was. lol. So instead I would say Halo on all low settings will get you a steady 30FPS.

    What kinda game is diablo?

I have a xbox 360 so i can play halo on that, and don't need a powerhouse gaming laptop. I just want something fun that's different then what i can already play.

World of warcraft i think id love but im too cheap to spent $15 a month on a game. I already spend that much on netflix, and another $15 on zune marketplace subscriptions

    Counter-Strike (the Half-Life 1 based one)
Desktop Tower Defense (alright, this ain't 3D, but it's really fun)
    Call of Duty
Half-Life 2 (adjusting the DirectX level to something like 7, 8, or 8.1 instead of 9 or 9+ will allow for more than twice the performance)
    Civilization 4

I don't know TF2 is pretty demanding, may be just maybe if he has a good enough CPU and with everything the lowest possible on an integrated card.

    I second Diable 2, such a classic.

    Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War

Works fine on an even older ATi Radeon IGP 340M graphics chipset; lags horribly on the cut scenes where it zooms up close and personal with the main characters.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is a lot of fun and not too demanding.

And Rome:Total War runs on low-med on my ancient mobility radeon 9200 64MB card. Looking at the benchmarks the X3100 does better than my card so I'd guess it would work on the new integrated chips.

Try out max payne2! I can't promise 100% it will run, but its a very well programmed game that runs on virtually anything. I ran it on my integrated "s3 via 64 mb" or something like that and it ran great on lower settings.

As far as NFS :pS goes, it's very CPU and RAM dependent. So having an IGP with 2GB RAM and C2D will probably run the game better than my 1GB RAM desktop with a single core AMD Athlon 64 CPU and a 6800GS since my proc. and RAM horribly bottleneck my gaming experiences.

i dont think so,cause when i first installed games it would slow down so bad that even a game that should run smooth didnt.so i read somewhere that i needed to turn it off,so i did,but then i even turned off basice aswell and had classic lol.

    and i have 2gbs ram

No it does not turn off automatically. That is the reason why people turn off aero or does not even use it.

You should get more flawless gameplay with it turned off. It may also increase your FPS. Not really sure about FPS but much more responsive gameplay is true.

Have you tried it: Playing a game with it turned off and on? My sister's laptop I tried to run Simis 2 with Aero and it was a bit sluggish turned off it runs smoothly.

Though If you have a powerful card you can forget about it. Turning off Aero will only be noticeable with people whos only has less than 2 Gb RAM and only has Integrated or weak Graphics card.

Yes, I've tried it and have seen no performance change. And when the game is shutting down I can see windows shift from Classic to Aero.

It automatically shifts?? I do not really know if that is possible but good for you that it is automatic.

Mine does not automatically change(and so does my sister's) So I only use Aero when I am not playing anything.

Yeah... as I said, it shifts to Classic before the game even starts, and it's clearly noticeable, then shifts back. If this is not a default feature, then I honestly dont know or remember how I have it so. I'm running windows Vista Ultimate x64.

EDIT: Also note that under properties of a file like a .exe , you can have it run with Aero disabled. So anytime it's executed, Aero automatically disables then re-enables when the app shuts down. So you don't have to manually disable Aero and enable it again. This is probably exactly what happens by default on my machine.

can anyone recommend a RPG like World of Warcraft (same kinda fantasy setting etc) but... well, not have it be a subscription MMO? lol Nothing too western though (cuz things like Oblivion are kinda meh for me) but i like more stylized games rather then "lets try to look real" games

Then who told most of the people here long ago that turning off Aero will give you a performance boost?

There was even a tool which will turn off themes so just you can run games more smoothly.

Will really have to try this on my Sister's Lappy.

How about Final Fantasy 7 -> 9, awesome games. I cannot play them on my PC now because it's too ........... modern, and if your cards are all enough to have 8-bit blah blah (can't be bothered to remember) you will have better graphics.

Guild Wars. Almost like the WOW clone....almost identical inventory system, combat mechanics and similar graphics...

You just need to buy the guild wars game (for about 30 dollars right now) and install the game with the CD-Key....then BAM! free online play for as long as the game lasts....

There are LOTs of possibilities if you're willing to go back a few years. Check out the games list at eeeuser.com:

    http://wiki.eeeuser.com/list:games

The Eee has a 900MHz Celeron, Intel GMA900, and in my case has 2GB RAM and Windows XP. I have personally played:

    Command & Conquer Generals
    Return to Castle Wolfenstein
    Freespace 2
    Call of Duty 1 & 2
    SWAT 4
    Rainbow Six games (not Vegas)

If it can run on the Eee it can run on yours.
