Having a little difficult in choosing which laptops to buy. Yes, I've read all the features but I still need help deciding, unfortunately. So please do not get angry at me for starting this thread. I just need a heavy push. my desired games are:

    COD 4
    Train & Flight Simulators
I play mostly simulator games even though a change of pace might help to see different scenarios than just Sims ;)

So if you'd be kind as to list the best and the least best in order. They are as follows:

    Dell XPS M1730
    G1SN - AK023C
    Asus M50
    Asus G70
    Dell XPS M1530

    Chronological means in time/history order.

But anyway aslong as you get a 8600m GT at the least, youll be fine.

when making desisions for a gaming laptop, the specs are much more important then the simple model number. I suggest you make a post in which laptop to buy and define your parameters.

FlipFire and Sujinge are right, and I'd also ask what kind of budget are you looking at?

In fact maybe you're best off filling out the FAQ and do things officially...

Alright, Thanks anyway. Sorry to trouble you guys. I just thought you guys were already familiar with those models and that's why I did not bother with any specs. Placing the models in order of best better good, should not have been that hard...well, at least that's what I thought. After all I am not asking for specs of each laptop, just the order in which you guys think they are deserved.

The dells are highly configurable, so even if I knew all the intimate details of them, I still have no idea what your configuration is. Based on the info you gave, the only thing we could have given was the screen size and construction of the chassis. And the Asus stuff are too obscure for someone to know without searching.

There's a ton of variance within each model, to the point where actual specs matter more than models. The XPS 1730 will probably be better than the 1530 for gaming, but it's still quite possible to build a crappy 1730 or an amazing 1530.

Budget matters as well. Model A might be faster on the high end than model B, but model B might be faster on the low end than model A. If you're going to cap your budget, it might change which machine is best for gaming. I wouldn't want to recommend something akin to an Alienware only to find out that you're intending to cap yourself at $1200, which would go much further with someone else.

None of those can be considered the best gaming laptops, other than the 1730 with the SLi 8800m GTX's. (I believe it's the 1730 that has that option)

Ok gentlemen, Let me rephrase the question. Best gaming laptop for $2300???

As I mentioned before. I mostly do sim games but have gone into trying out COD 4. So, basically any machine for the budget I have that can handle these games with ease, without getting loosing the fun of the game.

I like HP style as I have the HDX 2050 series(as you can see in my signature), laptop which I use as my desktop. But I would gladly try another brand if it has the right specs.

BTW, thank you for correcting my poor choice of words. I live in Sweden and the translation sucks...; ;)

for a bit over 2k, you can get GREAT gaming laptops from clevo. Check out the Sager/clevo forum for who would sell in sweden. I'm looking at the 570tu right now, but they also have a smaller 15 incher... though you seem to like big.

I would suggest the P-FX, but for 2K, you can get a great Sager or Clevo with the 8800m GTX.

I do remember a bit if a gamming beast that Gateway were offering was within your price range and was very good value for the money.....

Anyone care to tell the chap the model :)

I would find a Sager dealer and just customize one to your fitting, and with $2300 to work with you might find you have some left over cash purchasing one of those.

Wait a week or two, and see how the new Sager 5796 turns out. If you want a budget option, you can pick up the P173X FX from Gateway. If you do that, call them up for a discount.

Additionally, I'm relatively certain your HDX will outperform most of the laptops on the list you provided. The ones it won't outperform are the M1730 and G70.

Also, the G70 is probably going to be way out of your price range. A refurbished M1730 with 8800M GTX SLI would outperform anything on the list, as well as being within your budget.

It will run anything perfectly on high settings and native res (except crysis) I would have thought, assuming you get SLi 8800M GTX card, but dell are so expensive honestly I would check out xoticpc.com or powernotebooks you can get a much better price.

Only if you spend $3600+ on the SLI 8800GTXs. You'd be better off looking into the Sager NP9262. You can get the dual 9800s and a quad-core CPU for under $3k.

The sager 15in and gateway 7811FX will dominate those two you listed and will be under 2k.

My XPS M1730 with 8800m GTX plays Crysis at native Wuxga, no trouble doing that. The M1530 can´t be configured faster than even the slowest XPS M1730, since a 8700m GT is faster than a 8600m GT.

All of the systems you listed will be able to COD 4 and flight simulators without a problem, so I'd recommend looking at the secondary features of each system (webcams, fingerprint readers, media controls, ports, etc) and see which systems have things you think you might use and which don't.
