Hi Guys,
I play crysis and love it, but what is another game with beautiful graphics worth getting? I love a game with a good story line as well as one that looks good.
Any suggestions?
-
-
Oblivion looks quite good...
-
Call of Duty 4. It still battles Crysis in visuals when maxed out.
-
Gears of War looks great on PC.
-
Worst port of the year. -
This is the correct answer.
The single player graphics in COD4 are so beautiful, I was instantly reminded of Half Life 2 the first time I played it. The multiplayer graphics aren't quite as good, but it is still amazing.
Not to mention that it is overall a much better game than Crysis. -
I have never really played Crysis to it's potential but the best looking game I have ever played is Mass Effect, hands down, no questions asked.
-
cod4, assassin creed, mass effect, dmc4 (story???).
-
mass effect looks pretty
good -
Ya if you're looking for a great story too, Mass Effect has that too ... sorry I just love that game way way too much. I'm on my second run through of the story and the first time took me over 40 hrs ... whew.
-
also bio shock looks awesome
-
Mass Effect does look good, but the "filter" gives it too much of a grainy look for me.
Anyone who has maxed CoD4 out with AFx16 and a little AA will tell you... the game is incredible looking. -
another one is the orange box. half-life 2 and all the episodes still looks amazing
-
you dont have use that filter on mass effect
anyway i actually liked it -
Guess I'm off to pick up COD4 even though I have it on XB360.
-
-
Pacman in 1080p glory
-
-
Playing HL2 ep 2 and I must say the graphics are amazing
DP -
Team Fortress 2... because it's different.
-
-
Not to mention that it plays much better on the PC.
-
I ALSO find COD4 to be the most overrated game in the last year or two, people say Halo is bad but jesus!
OP:You should try Far Cry 2 when it comes out! -
Hard to believe? The 360 version uses no AF. I use 16x. The 360 uses no AA. I use 2x or 4x, depending on gameplay. The 360 uses what, 480 scaled up to 720 I believe, correct? I use 1440x900. The 360 uses a "high" texture model, I use Extra High.
I own the 360 Version, PC, and PS3. (360 for XBL, PC for single-player, multi-player, PS3 is in the studio) -
All Xbox games are made in 720p and all 360 games also have 2x AA ... Call of Duty 4 on the Xbox 360 is about equal to playing it on High with 2x AA on PC from what I have seen.
-
Don't get me wrong, as you can tell, I am a fan of the game. I'm just saying the PC version looks better. -
You missed out on:
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and LP: Colonies
Supreme Commander
Company of Heroes
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Assassin's Creed
Sins of a Solar Empire
The Witcher
World in Conflict
The Orange Box -

Having played on both XBOX360 and the m15x, it looks much better on PC. And it is nigh undeniable that shooters play better on PC.
-
Max Payne 2 when using Mona Sax.
-
the grain filter is supposed to simulate film grain like in a movie.... i didnt mind it....all comes down to personal preference but either way...ME easily top 5 games of last year.....love BioWare....cannot wait for KOTOR MMO...
-
AF & AA alone, I find it hard to see how they make games a hundred times better. Orange Box was pretty jaggy on the 360, on my PC with AA turned up to 8x Supersampling, it didn't make a HUGE difference but the jaggies being gone were nice.
I demand pictures KGann! -
-
If I could somehow get screenshots from my PS3 or 360, I would. But anyone who owns both, and can max them out, can tell you the PC looks much better.
And I was wrong about the resolution, I admit. -
I dream about FC2.
Gonna be shuuuu-weeeet!!!!
BTW Guys,
If you like discount, you will all quit your jobs on monday and get hired at BB!

I think Rage looks great especially considering it's made on DX9 in Windows (OpenGL on Mac) and the developers refuse to support DX10.

Its a very good recommendation!!! Sure the game has bugs but once you fix them ( yes they are very fixable) the game runs great and looks amazing! I ould highly recommend gears of war pc but just know you have to do some fixes that don't take long!
Anyways COD4 looks awesome! Almost as good as crysis -
Sorry there isn't much action, this just happens to me the mission I'm on in single player. First shot is with 4x AA, last two are with 2x AA. (Notice the framerate jump, even though there is absolutely nothing going on
)
Seems like a lame excuse, but screen shots don't do it justice. Now, we can argue all day about which is better. I think, either 2x or 4x AA, it looks better on PC. I guess some don't agree. -
Couldn't help but enter this debate.
PC wins for FPS's and RTS hands down everytime on both graphics and interface. It's been discussed many many times. The flexibility and power of an excellent gaming PC and the hand eye co-ordination of direct aiming with a mouse mean the PC wins for FPS and RTS gaming.
I have a [email protected] and ATI Radeon 4870 on a Dell 2707FPW at 1920x1200. I've been playing games since Elite on the Commodore 64.
FPS's on Consoles are for people that simply haven't yet experienced playing an FPS on an excellent gaming PC. Consoles are a good all rounder platform that publishers/developers love now because it's core market are less likely to be pirates.
I have a PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii. Consoles are great for family and friends and "flowing" games like sports, skiing, racing games and of course things like Scene It and other trivia games and platformers.
Excellent gaming PCs with Keyboard and Mouse and a good graphics card will always win over the current console for playability and graphics.
Anyone that has an excellent gaming PC and a 360 or PS3 to compare and has played games for years will agree. -
Im still most impressed with Oblivion. Its optimized engine/immersive world won me over.
-
I dont have any temps... I have never looked into it so dont know where I can find them. Where can I look to get them or what can I download them to monitor them? -
I feel like an idiot asking so many questions today... -
Chase, make sure an elevate the back of your notebook. (I use 2 DVD cases under the battery) When I first bought this notebook and set it flat, I was reaching around 90C. Now, you see my temps. Have yet to break 68C.
And no problem with the questions man, it's what we're here for! Go to the "Dummy Guides" section of these forums, and look for a guide by Gophn about Cooling. He explains it step by step.
And Link, I agree, I'll post some SS's of Oblivion, though I don't know if they have the framerate in them... -
Use this to display your temps. To display FPS when you are checking the box for displaying temps, just check the FPS row as well. Hope this helps!
(You can even display GPU/CPU clock speeds but that gets really distracting while gaming)

Assassin's Creed looks incredible, especially when you're perched atop a tower and can scan the whole city...ahh, beautiful.
Best looking Game
