I've been looking for a few games to buy for my new notebook, some for fun, some for multiplayer, and some just for the graphics. Ive got the first two down, but what do people think the best looking game will be? After I saw a trailer for Crysis, i was in awe. Anyone know of any games that beat or will beat Crysis in terms of graphics only?

UT3? Thats the only one that I can think of. Not sure how those compare. However Crysis is known to be one of, if not, the best.

You know, your specs aren't going to be able to run Crysis at those sort of levels anyway....if you're using the laptop in your signature, that is. Just in case you're overestimating the 8600MGT's performance capabilities....which you seem to be given your post seems to be based on visuals only! Certainly the 8600MGT will run them quite well, but you seem to have this notion that you'll be tearing through every game.... :p

If you're looking to run games like Crysis and god forbid even better looking games at very high settings to reflect images shown in trailers and magazine features, you'd need a very beefy desktop machine....

StrangleHold looks like a good one. ITs like matrix-meets-KungFu with some good visuals (lets say everything in the game blows up).

Im looking forward to that and hopefuly its not gonna be too demanding.

Definitely assassins' creed! I saw the demonstration of that, and it was amazing! You can practically do anything you want to do, and it's really cool. I wish I could show everyone the video of the demonstration, but I forgot where it was.

Enemy Territory Quake Wars has a thicker plot than Battlefield 2142 Titan Mode..It's much longer, and it's kinda complicated. -_-

My future laptop (Sager NP2090) will have similar spec's to lordofericstan's (only with a faster hard drive). So what kind of games would look best on a notebook of that caliber? Would it be older games on their highest setting, or Crysis (or the like) on lower settings?

I had actually been thinking about posting a thread about it, but this one seems to be asking (almost) the exact same thing as what I was wondering. (so I hope it isn't a hijack!). Thanks!

You wouldn't be able to play at the highest setting on Crysis. However, you would be able to play it at medium settings with a pretty good FPS.

Project Offset has ridiculously good graphics. For sure the best ever. It'll probably be a long time until it's released though.

to 07langp: im not sure if its listed elsewhere but crysis is being made to be easily scalable, so systems 3 years old will be able to run it (according to their site anyways).

So far my list of games are titan quest, crysis, assassins creed, and battlefield 2142. I think i will only be playing titan quest on my notebook though and the others only when i have to.

systems three years old might be able to run it, but on reasonably low graphics. most desktops with a gpu can run games at 640 x 480 with no textures.

Yes, I realized that I would not be able to play Crysis on high settings (I mentioned it in my post). I was wondering what would look better: a new game on medium (or even low) settings or an old game on high settings. This probably isn't quite as related as I first thought. I think I'll probably just start a new thread. Thanks for the input though!

i would say a new game on medium/low settings would look better than an old game on high.

i play MOHAA on high and it still looks crap as ever :D

It depends on the game and exact length between games. It can go either way.

For example, Battlefield 2 on all low looks far, far worse then the ancient Battlefield 1942 on all high!
