So what MMOs are people looking forward to and which do they prefer out of the current selection?
Personally, i'm waiting to see how APB turns out. The only MMO I ever played was the 2-week trial for WoW, which ended after the first week because my internet went down temporarily (probably a good thing).
I'm looking for a skill based game as I prefer keeping point-and-click to a minimum. Some decent graphics would be nice too. So if you guys have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I am eagerly awaiting Star Trek Online and KOTOR Online. I'll most likely try out KOTOR before STO only because I miss the Star Wars MMO universe that I absolutely enjoyed in Star Wars Galaxies, that is, before Raph Koster ruined it with the CU and NGE patches.

Skill based game?
EVE Online.
It's all about training skills. -
He left shortly after Q-3PO. -
There's a lot of hype on the upcoming Aion.
Best current MMO's:
Casual = WoW
Hardcore = Eve -
I have heard good things about darkfall, but have not heard anything serious in quite a few months. Also you should be glad you got out of wow when you did. The game has gotten progressively worse as time goes by, and basically hasn't been truly fun in years.

Blade and Soul: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCsmuMDXXcU&feature=fvst
Crimecraft(GTA style MMO) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ki-slA8oDoI -
Completely disagree. It's better than it was. Even the whole "it's too easy now bla bla bla" is bullcrap. WoW even at the height of it's difficulty was still only a poor mans EQ or FFXI. I laugh in the face of any elitistic jerk who thinks it was hardcore or a challenge.
So many new features and things have been implanted that suits the game well. Having played the game on and off since, I can safely say that it's better than it has ever been.
Nostalgia screws with peoples minds. No game can be fun forever. particularly when you play for thousands of hours like with WOW. -
As for it being hard core, I agree with you. WoW was never meant to be the hardest or most elite MMO. Blizzard always makes games to please the crowds, not the hard core MMO gamer. Hence why they are catering to the masses who complained about certain things being too hard. But comparing classic to any expansion shows it took a lot more skill to gear up and or be successful. -
Current:
EVE Online
Lord of the Rings Online
Looking forward to try:
Star Trek Online
Jumpgate Evolution
Huxley
Firefly (if it ever comes out)
Aliens Online (if it ever happens)
Dungeons & Dragons Online 2 -
Current:
WoW
Looking forward to try:
Star Trek Online
Aion
Guild Wars 2 -
I cannot agree with Liquid more. In WoW back at 60, it was way more difficult to get geared up than currently at 80.
Have any of your tried Age of Conan? Played it for a month and then came back to WoW, as the only cool thing AOC had was executions in PVP, imho. -
WoW has gotten easier and easier, which appeals to more and more people. I've been on and off, but you have to admit that WoW is a fantastic game. It's done things better then most MMO's, and will only continue to do so. It's one of those games that raise the standard and every other game follows, and it has been done so for the past few years.
I haven't played it in months and I'm still searching for a game that can effectively replace it, but alas, nothing so far.
Whether or not you like WoW or not, you have to agree that its done alot for the MMO world. It's like the Microsoft of MMO's -

Yea, back a few years pre-BC, I remember my Warlock was in Tier 2 and damn it was the shiz back then
Guilds started, ended, came about, split apart within the first raid. I do miss those days where our Mages were crap and Major Domo took forever to do...
When WotLK came out, within a few weeks I was in Naxx and within 2 months I've done all the content in the game(except 25 man Malygos) and this is with no real guild but a static 10 man group and pugging the 25 mans. Just needed 80% of the group to be capable and you're set... -
I too find myself trying to find that WoW replacement, and coming up short. I tried AoC, and other games but always seem to get dragged back in. I'm hoping that school will keep me busy as I find that I don't get finished with my work and school work til the late hours of the day, or commonly referred to as the wee hours of the morning. -
Well said.
I am also looking for something new, but the beast that is WoW cannot possibly be challenged in the near future. I've played and destroyed all the Guild Wars content, but GW is like, a barebones WoW, lol. Guild Wars 2 may be decent, but I'm not crossing my fingers... -
Raph Koster produced UO:Trammel and mentored that other f**k-up of game designer Tom "Evocare" Chilton a.k.a. Blizzard's Kalgan. -
i haven't really played an MMO that has captivated me like UO did. until then i just casually play CS and TF2.
games that i'm lookin forward to:
- ultima online 2
- diablo 3
- warhammer online -
I spent 3 years in FFXI, had a blast. While now days I avoid MMOs, I would like to see another Square-Enix MMO, but I don't really mind hardcore grinding, you really feel like you earn stuff that way. I remember when I hit Level 75 for the first time, I was so excited lol, then you discover endgame, and start hating MMOs.
-
Im really looking forward to Huxley, it looks like a nice game.

man that trailer for blade and soul looks pretty crazy. it has very nice visuals. i wanna see a video of actual gameplay and pvp before i make a decision on that one.
