i just play through steam... the discs don't really matter... after you download it you can just back it up to an external drive... i vote just buy through steam

I think buying a CD will let you crack it and play without Steam. It might also let you play the game faster, depending on your Internet speed.

I'd get the disc copy... that way you don't have to download every time you need to reinstall...

    no chance.
steam is the host and it wont work without it.
i bought the discs and only used them to download it and now they are collecting dust as you dont need them anymore unless you do a re install.
will only work on one computer as well as you have to enter the code via steam which stops you loading it on 2 systems.
so i would say whichever is cheapest go for that one.

Yeah, I've been able to install my steam games on multiple computers. Naturally, I can only use one at a time, because I can only be logged in at one place at a time.

soz thats what i meant to say. if you got steam loaded on both then yeh no probs but you can only play on one at a time as it wont open both using the same code.

I would just get it via Steam. It's going to be tied to your Steam account either way, so it's just a question of whether you want the retail disks or not.

Erm, just so you know, the Best Buy they're referring to is quite different from the Best Buy in Singapore. http://www.bestbuy.com/

    Hence the  lol

PS: laptops aren't exactly chick magnets. :D

Yeah I'd go with the disc versions. Even though it's tied to your Steam account, the advantage of having the discs is if/when you ever need to reinstall it. That's the one thing that sucks about large digital downloads, at least for someone like me with crap DSL- Once I buy a game on Steam I can't play it till the next day, cause it takes almost 18 hours to download.

I can probably download and install a game faster than I can install it from disk lol. Plus can just install and walk away, with the multi disk I have to wait for the disk change prompt.

Its cool though this game ties to your account so after I installed it now in the figure I can install it via disk or D/L from steam.

That means you cant resell the game though like you could the first one. Another thing I like about steam games and similar is that they do all the patches for you. Fast download and automatic. When I install my old disk based games, sometimes its a pain to trackdown if they had had updates/patches and find a good place to download them from.

PLUS... you can always back it up after its been download... it reinstalls from a steam backup faster than off the disc...

If activated on Steam, you can still sell the CD, the other person just won't be able to play on Steam. Should be able to play single player though.
