finally my new laptop arrived...cant wait to play mw2 on it
but whats the best way...should i buy CD from the shops or buy from Steam?
i wanna play multiplayer also later on so let me know
-
-
whichever way you go youre going to have to play through steam anyways because thats how the game is
-
i just play through steam... the discs don't really matter... after you download it you can just back it up to an external drive... i vote just buy through steam
-
I think buying a CD will let you crack it and play without Steam. It might also let you play the game faster, depending on your Internet speed.
-
I'd get the disc copy... that way you don't have to download every time you need to reinstall...
-
steam is the host and it wont work without it.
i bought the discs and only used them to download it and now they are collecting dust as you dont need them anymore unless you do a re install.
will only work on one computer as well as you have to enter the code via steam which stops you loading it on 2 systems.
so i would say whichever is cheapest go for that one. -

Yeah, I've been able to install my steam games on multiple computers. Naturally, I can only use one at a time, because I can only be logged in at one place at a time.

Amazon has it for 52.99
-
soz thats what i meant to say. if you got steam loaded on both then yeh no probs but you can only play on one at a time as it wont open both using the same code.
-
get it on amazon... u might get it cheaper than at other places...
-
I would just get it via Steam. It's going to be tied to your Steam account either way, so it's just a question of whether you want the retail disks or not.
-
Best buy has it for $30.00 bucks...Check out the thread in the hot deal forum.
-
best buy here has no stock.
bought it via steam.
tried multiplayer....was a total n00b.
damn..where are my CS skills when i need 'em -
Best way to get it is teh internetz ofc. -
-
btw..i bought my laptop also via best buy...since price was same around the country.
but did my research on teh internetz
man..my new laptop + MW2 on it..will def be a chick magnet on college campus -
Hence thelol
PS: laptops aren't exactly chick magnets. -
I bought the cd version of it but haven't had a chance to open it.
just wondering if i can (legally) play it without using the cd once i install it and register it with steam? -
best bet is be diversified... have a hot car and a hot laptop lol... just get em all haha
:q
-
Yeah I'd go with the disc versions. Even though it's tied to your Steam account, the advantage of having the discs is if/when you ever need to reinstall it. That's the one thing that sucks about large digital downloads, at least for someone like me with crap DSL- Once I buy a game on Steam I can't play it till the next day, cause it takes almost 18 hours to download.

Its cool though this game ties to your account so after I installed it now in the figure I can install it via disk or D/L from steam.
That means you cant resell the game though like you could the first one. Another thing I like about steam games and similar is that they do all the patches for you. Fast download and automatic. When I install my old disk based games, sometimes its a pain to trackdown if they had had updates/patches and find a good place to download them from. -
PLUS... you can always back it up after its been download... it reinstalls from a steam backup faster than off the disc...
-
11gb is alot of downloading lol, took me 4 hours, id prefer cds, i dont want to download 11gb nor back it up on some disk. at least u get something solid
-
u cant sell the CD i think...because the game has already been activated via Steam.
am i right? -
