    Hi

I could really use everybodies help, ive just installed
both of the knights of the old republic games and they run
great, however im quite new to pc gaming and dont really
know what all of the advanced options do, and what are the
best settings to use with my notebook i would like the game to run
smoothly and look the very best it can but without slowing it down.

    My notbook specs are below.

CPU: Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T7700 (2.4Ghz)
    RAM: 3GB DDR2
GPU: 512MB Ati Mobility Radeon HD2600
    HDD: 250GB
    Display: 17" TFT Trubrite (1440x900)
    OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

I would really appreciate any help and advice.

    Thankyou

you can max it, set it to the higest settings possible, will be fine.

My old P4 desktop with an X700 could almost max this game at 1280x1024 you will be able to mak it fine.

Yeah that's an older game (still one of my all-time favorites though, if not my favorite ;)), so you can put the settings up as high as they go. Leave the "AA" or anti-aliasing at 2x or 4x for the best performance, 6x or 8x might be too much. Basically it smooths out the edges on objects so you don't get the "stair-stepping" effect.

Which settings in particular do you want to know about?

There are no specific settings im enquiring about. One thing i would like to know is that when i maxed out all of the settings
the game runs fine, however when i exit the game and turn it back on again all of the advanced settings have turned
themselves off and restored to the factory settings any idea why this is happening?

Ive just been fiddling around with the advanced settings again
and now everything seems to be working normally.

Chaz, ive taken your advice and have set "AA" anti-aliasing at 4x
and have kept all of the other advanced settings turned on is this alright?

I have a new problem i would like to have some help with please.
When i installed KOTOR 2 everything was fine, however after installation i could'nt run the game, apparantly i needed to install all the updates first, which i did.

After i had installed all of the updates the game ran great, and the game still runs great however now in the start menu under programs the lucasarts folder where KOTOR 2 is stored is constantly high lighted and in the folder there is another folder saying updates.

I tried installing the new updates but it wont let me, i keep getting a message saying my system is fully updated, but the high lighted update folder in the start menu wont disappear does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

I wouldn't worry about that folder if you installed all of the updates, it sounds like that is just where the game put them.
