Bf2 vista problem

I installed BF2 and I downloaded the patches, but when I click on the BF2 icon to run it it pops up to the BF2 screen then goes to a black screen as in loading, but then it goes back to my desktop. I have windows Vista and it is a brand new computer that can easily handle this game. Its a Compal Hel80 with 2 gig ram. I tried running in compatibility, administrator. I bought it from dicountlaptops.com do i need to reinstall graphics driver, if so how do I go about doing this. Also what else should i try I already reinstalled the game.

any ideas

I also just bought a new HP dv9000 with the 512 graphics card and core 2 2.0 chip. Exactly the same thing happend to me. I love BF2 so I am not happy. I did update all drivers but so far, no luck.
