Ok since getting my new laptop I wanted to see what it could do, so I bought these 2 games. I bought BFBC2 about a month before I bought MW2, both on steam. Before this the only games I would play from my library of games was the multiplayer COD4 and COD World at War. That's how much I loved the franchise.

Anyway after playing the single player mode of BFBC2 I wasn't exactly impressed, been there done that, so I tried the multiplayer, but felt awkward because of the new interface, learning curve and confusion of what to do and so I played maybe about an hour of multiplayer before I gave up.

Then I wanted to see what all the hype was with MW2 and Black Ops, and since I had new hardware why not upgrade my game library with more modern software. I spent the 60 bucks and after a day of waiting for it to download and install. I went straight to multiplayer and was blown away! How did I not get this a year ago? well maybe because I didn't have faith my old Toshiba X305 with a 9700m gts would be able to play it fluidly with all it's glory on max graphics settings. I stayed up many nights depriving myself of rest playing the single player mode, and multiplayer mode. This baby ran beautifully at a constant 60 fps because vsync was enabled with max graphical settings. I found my now favorite game, until....

I got bored one day and thought well I'll just try the multiplayer BFBC2 again and hopefully I'll like it when I learn the game mechanics. Well after sometime, I'm freakin hooked. This game is more of a simulation of a real world war zone. The physics and attention to detail such as gravity and interactive environments and the special effects make it so much more immersive and deep. Unlike MW2, which now reminds me of Quake, BFBC2 is why PC games in times past seperated the men from the boys. PCs were a different breed because of it's simulations, and BFBC2 brings me back to those days when you could only find these deep simulations on PC only and not any low powered console.

As I type this on my Toshiba X305, I hear the music of BFBC2 playing on my Toshiba X505 and it's calling my name, so I don't know why I'm typing this still, oh yeah because I wanted to say, that I just tried playing MW2 again and it's not the same. After getting into BFBC2 multiplayer, MW2 just feels fake now. It's like a rehash of Quake with military weapons. I can't really get into to it, because I keep going back to BFBC2 multiplayer. Ok eff this, I'm going back in the battle and tell my family I love them...

Bc2 Is far from a simulation. If you want to play something realistic try project reality mod for bf2 or the arma series. Both will make bc2 look like the console game it is. Don't get me wrong I really like bc2 but it is not a sim or even that realistic.

Pretty much everybody is saying the new Vietnam expansion for BFBC2 is great. Look into that perhaps?

well it's a fun sim, if they made it to authentic it wouldn't be fun, they hit just the right balance. Falcon 3.0/4.0 was based on a real flight simulator model of the F 16 and although I love that game it was just to tedious and sometimes you just flew for hours without seeing combat. So again BFBC2 found the right mix of sim elements and gaming fun.

ok I'm still playing as I type this and I'm riding in the tank manning the machine gun, and this is why I don't trust our troops because it's just to fun shooting stuff and innocent people just because...

I plan to get it, I have not been playing FPS games in quite some time since or slightly before Starcraft 2 came out.

I plan to slide back into the genre with some L4D2 games, and playing some of the original BFBC2, then if I stick with it will pick up the Vietnam expansion.

I have a large handful of games right now that I want to play and so the problem is play them all just a bit and suck, or dedicate myself to one to be good at it.

Its not just PC there are a ton of great Wii games out now that I need to play also.

    On my "playlist" right now

    > The Witcher - purchased never played
    > Dawn of War 2 - purchased just started to play
    > Just Cause 2 - purchased only just barely played
    > Metro 2033 - purchased only just barely played
    > Beat Hazard - Fun game I like to play when I have some time to kill
    > Poker Night at the Inventory - Fun game I like to play when I have time to kill
    > Wolfenstein - Never Beat It

    On the Wii....

    > Donkey Kong Returns
    > Sonic Colors
    > Metroid Other M
    > Goldeneye
    > New Super Mario Bros
    > Tatsunoko vs Capcom (gotta use my self built joysticks for something)
    > Kirby Epic Yarn

    + more

And... the Dolphin Emulator supports triple screen setups like mine, so even thinking about visiting gamecube & wii games I already beat just to experience them again in a new way.

battlefield isn't even supposed to be a simulator. it's just a different flavor of arcadey-ness than call of duty.

i prefer battlefield, personally. the *immersion* (that might have been the word you are looking for) is a lot higher.

call of duty is sort of like super-speed rail-flying robots with perfect accuracy running around with tons of grenades and m203's.

bad company 2 does a better job with the feel of moving around, firing a weapon. it doesn't make a simulation, but it does make it more fun and interesting.

One thing that always brought the BF games to life for me was the sound effects.

I thought BF2 was great, but first time I heard BFBC2 in surround I was like "wow"

Graphics look more "simulation" than "arcadey" like CoD but yeah its definitely not a Sim.

Sims have much more relativistic weapons, and real death penalties and such.

I have been playing BFBC2:Vietnam since release, it is really good, sadly no new unlocks. The new maps are nice though, and some new weapons, like the flame thrower are pretty cool. I will post some pics of it when I get the time.

BFBC2 would be so much better if i could stay online for longer then a few minutes due to punkbuster kicking me for my optimus technology. Nvidia, where is your driver release that you just stated was coming out the middle of last week?

mw2 only requires average class of hardware to run, whereas bc2 needs a heavy specs to fully optimize the details, given the blurry effect and tess, i just hope the next part of the single player campaign will be more awesome.

To me bc2 seems like the trial run of battlefield 3. Bc2 is so amazing; however it just doesn't seem like DICE took full advantage of the game. There's just SO MUCH MORE that they could have done to make the game "better".
