First of all, you will have a Dual core Processor, which is much better than your currunt one, secondly the 9700GTS has new tech, 256bit interface, higher bandwidth and Video Memory, it will most likely be Triple the 6600's performance.

What are you talking about??? The laptop has a faster processor, more/faster RAM and a video card that outclasses his old one in every single way. So how is that slower?

all i have to say is, that if you have any problems with vista, revert to xp. you probably wont, but if you do, that is one bullet proof solution.

any way you spin this, you have a fast new machine.

    Err... Sarcasm?

I didn't really see the point in him asking the original question though. Of course it will run much faster. Old hardware/New Hardware. 1 + 1= 2.

Not always true. A 7800GT out-runs an 8600M GT, even though the 8600M GT is "newer hardware". That is just one of the hundreds of examples I could give.

    I love being literal.

A 7800m GT is a high end card while the 8600m GT belongs to a lower tier.

Of course the 7800m GT will still preform better than the next generation's mid-range offering.

    a.) 1 + 1
    b.) 1 + 1
    c.) 1+1
    d.) 11 <- they get together!
    e.) /sarcasm.

    Or 512mb on a 128bit card.

I know they are different classes, I was just rebutting the statement about "newer technology is better than older".

But in fact most 128bit 512mb ram graphics dedicated graphics card are 128 bit ;). I mean even the 9700GT is 128 bit it's not until the GTS it becomes 256bit :p.

    False, 1 + 1 = 10.

There are 10 types of people in this world...

The new computer will definitely be faster than the old one, and it will be a big improvement.

Yes, that is the comedic value in it- it's marketing. The 128bit cannot utilize more than 256mb of VRam, rendering the remaining 256mb virtually useless.
