I've been reading through the forums and come across some posts with people reporting overheating (even a burn-out) when running Bioshock (maxed out etc).

I have also recently discovered that the thermals on the T7x00 CPUs are superior to those on my T5250 1.5ghz.

SO... i was wondering if I was likely to experience these problems too; with me having a slower CPU with poorer thermals? I really dont want to burn out my hardware (lol).

Is this really an issue or am I just being paranoid?

    Thank you.

In my opinon heat damage is a serious issue. My Toshiba has scars from heat damage (no joke). I wouldn't worry too much as long as you keep the computer on a flat surface. I don't play games unless my computer is sitting on the table. Also you could check out a cooling pad if you are worried. It doesn't hurt to be safe.

It shouldn't be a problem for you if you make sure your computer's intake fans aren't blocked by dust or anything.

    Have a nice notebook cooler.

Have NHC (Notebook Hardware Control) and Rivatuner or some program to monitor your GPU temperatures so you will know if it gets too hot.

But most importantly you'll be able to know when your laptop gets too hot.
If you're playing with an external keyboard/mouse just touch the front every hour or so if it's burning hot then yea you should be shutting your laptop down to check the fans when it cools down.

my Acer aspire used to get so hot to the right of the touch pad that when using the keyboard the heat felt like it would burn my wrist.and this was a new laptop straight out of the box.after making a cooling pad that i felt comfortable with that i could use on my lap (lots of foam on under side).it now runs cold and draws air in through the CPU vent and the memory vents.it works well and i can use it via USB or Mains adapter.its not pretty but it works.
get your self a cooling pad its money well spent.or if your good at DIY make your own :)

i dont really worry about it and my laptop gets pretty hot on my lap. My GPU gets the hottest but its has a safety shutdown mode if temp gets higher than 90 degrees i think.

cpu and hdd are usually around 25 deg but can rise to 54 deg

I play games while laying down every once in a while. As long as there is some airflow through the rear fan assembly on my C90, im fine.

i played the bioshock demo, a bit on lowmid settings but still i played it, and my laptop seems normal (64C for GPU/ 68C for CPU/48C for HDD) and i am not using a cooling pad (mine broke :( , and havent got a new one yet) despite the hot summer temperatures outside (utah)

but i do reccommend a cooling pad, keeps temps down and prolongs the life of your notebook
