I cannot get bioshock 2 to run with my 680m. It crashes immediately on startup (hangs on the first startup screen with the small writing on it and shows as 'not responding' in task manager)

If I force it to use the Intel HD4000 it will run (terribly!), so it must be a problem with the 680m/NVIDIA drivers.

    My NVIDIA driver is 304.79

    Any ideas?

Don't use 304.79. I've had many issues with them with my 680m. Download the latest 302.77 from Sager's site and use those. So far so good.

Hmm, ok it's worth a shot. Do you have a link for the driver?

Also, did you just uninstall the NVIDIA driver or did you also uninstall/reinstall the Intel driver too?

    Thanks :)

It is probably crashing due to it being a Beta Driver, shame there is no WHQL ones yet.

    Thanks +rep :)

Wow, an install over the current driver, nice - that's how it should be!

It seems a lot of people on these forums don't like doing that!

Well, with Windows 7 it really isn't necessary. It's an old school thought that isn't really relevant anymore. Granted in extreme cases with a poorly written installer or driver or users fussing with third party drivers, etc things can bugger up then you may have to do a driver sweep with a third party app.

Installed 302.77 and it works like a charm and fixed my bioshock problem.

    Thanks ht!

These will not install on a P170HM that has a gtx 680M unless they have been modified. I just did this for mine, haven't tested yet though. You can find the modded .inf here if you need it.

I think most P170HM with that card have 0000.1558 as a hardware ID, if not then mine won't work for you.
