Ok so I a Dell Inspiron 1520 w/ nVidia Geforce 8600m GT. I installed Bioshock, everything works fine until after the first movie the game simply hangs and I get a black screen. Ive been doing research for a couple hours now and everything Ive found points to download the 163.44 driver from laptop2go. I dlled this driver, for Windows Vista 32-bit, however the problem now is when I run the setup file it says "Setup has detected that operating system in use is not Windows Vista 32-bit".... I am 100% sure it is Windows Vista 32 bit... I have tried running it in Adminstrator mode but all of this has amounted to nothing. If anyone has any idea I would GREATLY appreciate the help!!! Thank you guys for everything!

Have you tried using the "have disk" method for installing the video drivers?

Please read the stickies before posting, we have a thread dedicated to driver questions.
Also, make sure you have correctly downloaded the corresponding modified INF and copied it into the extracted driver folder overwriting the original INF. -

You may as well skip the 163.44's aka "bioshock" drivers and go to the 163.75's there the newest and will include the fixes for 163.44 but also some new stuff mostly for the orange box.
I think the problem your having is the INF needs to be changed if I am not mistaken.
