So who has the full version of Bioshock and played completly or mostly thru the game?
Just wanted some feedback on how much you like the game. I was really impressed with the demo, but the more I think about it the more I think the demo might have already showed off most of the game and I may find myself bored in the full version.
Bottom line question is... Is it worth 50$?

It's absolutely worth the money - the demo only shows you the very very beginning of it - and you only get a small taste of the overall gameplay possibilities (with only a couple of plasmids, etc.).
If you enjoyed the demo at all, the full version should be a very safe purchase.
Btw, if you're looking to buy the PC version, Circuit City has it on sale this week for only $39.99.

It's an instant classic. I never finished a game before Bioshock (except Solitaire).

Bioshock is probably the best game I've played so far, but there's one thing that I didn't like about it.
It was a little too easy.
-
Bioshock is an amazing experience. And it really is an experience - the atmosphere, the story (told primarily through audio logs which are almost always interesting and insightful to listen to), and the well-developed characters and voice acting are all incredible. The gameplay is quite varied with the different plasmids and weapons/ammo-types, and coming up with new and creative ways to kill things is always fun.
There are flaws: the game is a bit short (15-20 hours if you take your time), although I've played through twice already to get all the audio logs and try out different plasmids that I didn't have enough Adam to buy the first time. People say it's too easy (I think mostly because of the Vita-Chambers that instantly revive you), but I agree with the developers about this - how death disrupts the flow of gameplay and is usually when people stop playing. By instantly reviving you nearby, you have the urge to continue playing.
In any case, if you enjoyed the demo, then you will definitely love the full game. Jump on the $40 deal at Circuit City and be happy. -
I am one of those people that usually loses interest 50-75% through a game because the game is either repetitive, gets too difficult, or too buggy. Bioshock is none of those.
There is some repetitiveness with the enemies, but there's enough variety in the levels, weapons, and the story that it keeps you engrossed.
I would put this on par with Half-Life 2 as far as the total experience. Although I give Half-Life 2 a little more kudos from its more varied level design.
I fully recommend this game to anyone that enjoyed Half-Life 2 or enjoy a good single player game with an engrossing story.
Some say it is too short, but IMHO, it was just right. There is definite opportunity for an expansion, and multiplayer would be a blast pitting different plasmids against one another. Maybe they'll implement a multiplayer mode in an expansion or even make it free like F.E.A.R. Combat. -

So far so good. Speaking of half life 2... I dont want to go off topic much but the one game I am waiting for even more than bioshock is Portals!!!
40$ is not bad, I will have to think on it, for most thats a deal but I am abit poor at the moment, just had a new baby and the wife is not working. -
I never pay $50 for any game though, so I can't recommend anything there. Far Cry is still the best shooter I have ever played. -
I got as far as the incinerate plasmid and got horribly bored.
Plus it crashed for me the odd time too which really put me off.
Seriously dont want to screw around with gpu test drivers just for one single game when everything else played in my machine is perfection. -
i love it. very fun

For me, Bioshock is right up there with half life 1 and Advent Rising. Speaking of witch, Imma gonna go play Advent Rising again.
-
I agree on the beta drivers thing. When every new game seems to need specially installed drivers, you have to wonder. You'll probably see a new one for Crysis again very soon.
Still though, the drivers seems pretty solid on my system. I haven't had any problem I could pin to exactly the drivers. -

I definately think Bioshock is a great game, probably the best one so far this year, but I don't think it's quite as good as everybody is saying it is. I loved the story & the plasmids/tonics, but I felt like the game was a bit repetitive. That said, it was a great experience from the opening until end. I finished in about 18 hours on medium difficulty. Haven't really had any urge to play through again as of yet, so I'm not to sure about how good of value it was to me personally.
I definately don't think Bioshock is near the greatness of HL2/1 though. HL2 felt like I was doing something different each level, with completely different environments & enemies. Something that I didn't feel in Bioshock. The game could have used at least a bit more enemy variety (more big daddies FTW?). -
I like Bioshock a lot. It'll be one of the classic games that I install on newer PCs in future years just because it's such an amazing game.
Looks great. The water is really amazing. One of my favorite parts is when the water cracks the roof near the elevators. If you haven't watched that scene, do so. Watch the water fill the entire room. The fire gets put out by the water eventually. And after that, the sign next to the elevator will start to float. It's really cool and makes you feel like the room is full of water.
Excellent atmosphere, music, and great story. -
Net Saviours - Rockman EXE.
My brother had a go at playing Bioshock and two hours into the gameplay he couldn't take the shock anymore a.k.a Bioshock. -
Bioshock is great, I've beaten it 1.5 times
However it wasn't perfect..
Here's my positives and negatives though.
Positives.. IT's unique, long compared to most games, great gamesplay, endless possibilities for settings traps.
Negatives.. somewhat repetitive enemies, no large areas ( the game is mostly in small rooms/corridors etc.. ) there are some nice large spots, but not enough, and not big enough. Game was FAR more linear than previously hyped, although you can do ALOT, and decide how you want to approach each situation in your own way, your still being forced to go in one direction. I can swear there's only like 5 or 6 different types of enemies, and thats all..
But all in all, it's worth buying, it's great fun, especially when you start experimenting with what you can do with all the plasmids. -
$50?! I hate Norway. I bet I gotta pay at least $80 for it here. Wohoo!

For those who thought the game was too long.. I thought it was way too short. Graphics are intense, sound and realism are intense.. I beat it in 3 days of playing in the evenings. I'm now about half way through on the hard mode, have spent about 3 evenings playing it so far.
1) Needs to be longer. No real value after you've beaten it a couple of times.
2) There needs to be a multiplayer mode.. why waste the game?
3) Make sure you have a 7600 or 8600 or better card.. the graphics are very nice, but even on my 7800 they are smooth but feel a bit laggy at times. On the 8600 on the laptop they are about the same.. smooth but could be better.

no single player game is worth 50 bucks.

fastblack, amen, but i'll extend ur quote and say "no game is worth 50 bux, period." u can argue with me, of course, but that's just my opinion.
