    Hello,

I overclocked my ATI Radeon 9000 to 800/800. With dual notebook coolers, a fan blowing on the laptop, and a modded Pentium M chip, I was able to run Bioshock on medium settings at 32 fps stable. However after an hour the computer shut down. It is cooling off now. I will get a fraps and screenshots on next attempt. Interesting indeed..

Wasn't ATI Radeon 9000 clocked at 250MHz core by default?

I had an ati 9000 too in my old Dell 600M, and no way in hell those clocks got anywhere to 800 & 800. Im surprised that it lasted that long before shutting down.

Yeah, Radeon 9000 is DX8.1 after all- so it's PS 1.4

well no thats not possible..i have an x700 which has shader model 2.0. considering you have an inferior model it would have this or worse. bioshock REQUIRES shader model 3.0. i got it to run with a mod but that is the only way. so there is no way you got it to run unless it was modded

    ahhh ok then nevermind then

I believe you have been busted, good sir. No way in hell could that game run in DX8. It wasnt even programmed for it.

Yup. Pics or it didn't happen (and actual real-life photographs of your laptop, not in-game screens since those can come from anywhere). If you try to run Bioshock on a non SM3.0 card, you just get a lot of blackness and messed up graphics. There is a (very incomplete) mod that allows Shader Model 2.0 DX9 cards by creating custom home-made shaders, but I don't think that would work on a DX8 card.

If you actually did get Bioshock running, that's cool, but I seriously doubt it.

    Edit:
I overclocked my Voodoo3 and got Bioshock running at 20 FPS at max settings!

This man speaks the truth! I got bioshock to run max at 2048x2048 on my PCI S3 Salvage 16MB card!! It was a good 45fps i believe.

Oh please! You people are outrageously embarrassing. I managed to run Bioshock on a ZX Spectrum.

    LOL.

There was a group that was working on a patch for SM 2.0 for cards like ATI X800, 9800 ...

It worked ok on my ancient 9800 pro running at slideshow. Colors at at random room looks like painting of rainbow. Other then that, ATI 9000 won't work. Patch was only for SM 2.0
