Ive got a dv9000t with the go7600 and on high settings the game is a bit sluggish for my tastes. now the problem is that when I try to change the game settings to medium (from high), the game crashes and I get that standard Microsoft xxxx encountered an error, send report crap. when i restart the game, the config is still at high settings.

is there a config file I can edit that will allow to me to change the settings without going into the game?

Visit tweakguides.com. There's a good Bioshock optimizer there.
