Does anyone here bitcoin mine? A lot of people say that the electricity bill will cost more than the amount made from mining so it's not worth it. What if you don't pay the power bill though? Is it possible to make even 10 dollars a day with a top of the line laptop?
I tried researching online about mining and I'm still kind of confused and wondering if I should get into it. Does anyone have any success stories or know anything about it?
Thanks

A while back bitcoin split and mining became twice as hard. If you don't pay your electricity, it's still a matter of patience and computing power. What's worth it most is the journey into economics and currency exchange.

Although if you want to kill that 880M in short order and get a replacement 980M under warranty, 24/7 mining will do it you sneaky little devil.Starlight5 likes this. -

I made 40€ mining 2 years ago for 1 month straight.
I actually think I paid more in electricity yes.
Simply not worth it for a normal user. It was though, in the beginning. -

Last time mining on non-specialized hardware was worth it was about 3 years ago. I mined about 40BTC way back when with my dual desktop Radeon 6970's, and then sold them when the market spiked. Unless you get a custom ASIC based miner (some of them are cheap on Amazon) and probably go into a pool of some kind instead of trying to go it alone, it's not worth it.
