I don't get it, I'm about to kick my laptop down the stairs. I've got the m17xR2 with the i7 720q, Dual 4870m's, 6gb 1333mhz ddr3 ram, 120gb OCZ SSD and the game is still lags so bad its unplayable. I have tried 3 different drivers the 11.6, 11.7 and 11.8 drivers. I have crossfire enabled, and inside the 3d app settings everything is turned on the lowest, Black Ops is set to 1200x800, AA off, Vsync off, Binilear, ASF 1x, textures low, shaders off shadows off and bullet impacts off and i still get 25-30 fps in places. The whole game just runs bad, it lockes up in the menu, in game it stutter and lags. I average 40fps and drops down into the 20's. Does anyone know how to fix this. Every other game runs just fine.

Black Ops is unoptimized. You have made a mistake buying the game, always use Google or ask how the game runs on your Laptops section of the forum

Use my guide, it MIGHT help.

Well yeah, It's CoD on a laptop, of course it runs terribly. No optimization at all.

BO seems to like nvidia gpus. I'm running fullhd maxed out on my gtx460m with an average of 75fps, being 90 the max (I didn't changed the framecap).

When I had hd5850 in my desktop I wasn't able to get the same amount of fps as I did with the older gtx260 sp216, which is considerably lower spec compared to hd5850.

Still until I sold the Ati gpu I hadn't found a way to get playable framerates, I was getting 45fps of average.

This is just an example but so far I've seen only Ati users complain about BO performances. I mean the gpu power is there, it's clearly a driver level problem.

Anyway I small advice: try to run the game without crossfire, just a single gpu. It may help a bit.

Except for that BO was the last sh~~t i ever have bought it did run with ca. 30-50 FPS with High settings (AAx4;ASF-Max) smooth on my HD5650M. Are other games stuttering sometimes too? Check your SSD (Speed/Latency) maybe your Gfx is getting too hot (GPU-Z)... You might try a new W7 installation on another HDD.

Black ops runs like for me, until i format, re-install Win7 then install it, it works flawlessly runs at 60fps constant, then after a few days, few other installs of other things, it then plays like .

Waste of money, piece of game.

Ya I'm on 11.8 drivers and am getting on average of about 90 FPS in multiplayer fully maxed out without an overclock at all (dont ever play singleplayer) on my m17x in my sig. Your m17x is not too much different than mine.......so I don't know what your problem is. Weird!

I had the same problem, disable Crossfire and it will run great.
I use RadeonPro to disable crossfire only in that game.
