Well, since I preordered HAWX on Steam, I got Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII for free. I always wanted to give it a shot, but never bought it.

Now I'm a little frustrated, as I can't get controls to work right.

Mouse does not turn plane, and mouse wheel does not accelerate as it should.

I tried my XBOX 360 controller and it doesn't see the left stick as an axis but as buttons. It makes it impossible to control.

    Any suggestions?

Have you played around with the config utility that loads outside the game? Steam on mine actually launches to it first, then play from there. You can completely remap and bind any setting to any key, button, or axis, and it works fantastic with the 360 controller. Spend a few minutes tinkering with that, and you'll get it setup. That was my only complaint on the Xbox version, as you couldn't change controls, but the PC version does allow changing anything in the config program.

it comes with the game. go to the main game directory, and you'll see "SettingApplication.exe" It gives you the option to change options, including fully mapping both Player 1 and Player 2 control settings. Can change what axis does what, map any button or key, etc. Tinker with that and you'll be good to go.

I have tried this. But controls are screwy. It only sees the left stick as buttons for up/down, not an analog axis, so I can't use it to pitch up/down, as I'd prefer the left stick for turn left/right, pitch up/down, and right stick for throttle (up/down) and rudder (left/right). But activating pitch full up or down or throttle full up or down doesn't help me at all.

really? i don't get either one of these problems.

SettingsApplication.exe, it's in the main Blazing Angels directory, have no idea why it wouldn't be there. did you get it from Steam? if so, i'd try validating files or redownloading, because something is wrong. It's where you set all of the graphics settings, player 1 and 2 controls, advanced settings, and online.

As for your problem wingnut, not sure either. All I did was plug in my 360 controller, ran the setup program, enabled joystick, and ran through the default joystick column and configured them how I like.

I use the left stick for pitch and roll, right stick for rudder and throttle, and all other buttons setup as for the 360 version. Pitch is variable just like it should be, along with roll, yaw and throttle. Only slight issue is "turn left" and "turn right", as it's a combined rudder and aileron, but still works fine. It's labeled as Z axis.

Pitch up and down simply show up as "stick down" and "stick up" respectively. (and to confirm, it is the left stick, and is fully proportional)

Plus, when the game loads, all buttons are shown as the 360 buttons, just like on the xbox version. Works absolutely perfect. Very odd about yours... sure the controller is calibrated and working properly in windows itself?

Hmmm, my stick up / stick down / stick left / stick right is all on my right stick on my wireless X360 controller. Left stick left / right is variable (analog) but up / down only show as buttons.

Are you running XP or Vista? Maybe there's a difference there? Also, did you install the driver software or just plug in and go? I installed the driver software. Maybe I need to remove that and just plug in and use default ones.

    I got it here:
