    Follow-up to the original story...

Blizzard sues Starcraft II hackers - News at GameSpot

So it's not enough to ban users anymore, they target the creators too? And not even ones from the US, but from canada and abroad... afaik canada will only allow extradition under certain conditions (ie murder).

The smarter thing to do would be to give these guys a job at blizz - wait, the hackers probably aren't evil enough to work there now :(

If ppl cheat, it's their fault for being caught. The point of cheating is to get an unfair advantage and NOT being caught.

On the other hand, having to log in to play single player is kinda lame(I know you could use offline mode... but still)

Oh come ON! If Blizzard can prove monetary damages and that it affected other users then, ok, maybe. But ban the accounts and be done with it. Does Blizzard really need to sue these guys for probably the $12 they have in their bank accounts? Really?

If anything this proves that their piracy prevention doesn't work when you have to pursue legal means. Whatever.

Blizzard will spend a ton more money in legal fees than anything they had lost, which seems to be nothing more than their pride.

Exactly. This qualifies as overkill I think, esp. when so many other cracks exist for other games out there and those still haven't raised eyebrows this high...

Haha, that's why blizz wants real id - to know whom to sue.
