I wouldn't doubt if all the employees that had information released about them complained and that scared them. I hope the idiots that came up with the idea get fired.

Blizzard can't stop the tide of public opinion after all it seems, I wonder why game companies keep trying to act like Canute on major issues like DRM, forum usage and pricing?

Blizzard says they were listening to the outcries, but I heard that one of the administrators showed his real name to prove its a good system and /v/ on 4chan completely destroyed him. And that's why blizzard decided against it

The truly funny thing is, since they now are not going to do it, there is going to be sooooo much trolling/flaming/spam on the forums right now because they where seriously considering this idea.

Oh the irony. You can't make this crap up.

    Battle.net(R) and Facebook Integration Announced

^ Interesting official press statements on Activision Blizzard Merging with Facebook. Perhaps this RealID thing was just an attempt to slowly integrate facebook into the game and forums. I find it ironic because the first thing the admin did when his personal information came up was DELETE his facebook.

I really doubt we've seen the last of this. If they have really merged then Activision will be trying to find new ways to quietly spring this upon it's users. I can see them implementing it in game (SC2 maybe??) and slowly start to transition the website. Hopefully the community remains alert and continues to respond overwhelmingly to their advances.

Blizzard only listens to money and this was probably the first time since the global cooldown fiasco two years ago that so many people threatened to quit if the change was not reverted.

Not true at all. Almost every damn balance change in the game came directly from people complaining on the forums. Blizzard does to much listening to the community when it comes to wow imo. Because the vocal upset minority do not represent the satisfied majority that dont feel the need to go post about stuff.

I guarantee you, the people who convinced Blizzard was their wives and family after they saw all their personal information posted on the internet. These are the people who changed Blizzard's mind, not the customers.

They haven't merged, as in acquiring the company. They're only utilizing their services in the game. Not sure how/why. Doesn't make sense to me at all. I hate facebook. Looks like Blizzard has finally succumbed to the dark side.

    Ahahahah! Great dub.

I'm happy they snapped out of it but the facebook integration is worse imo. That has pictures, family members, locations.

    World of StalkCraft anyone?

I have profile pictures and dog pictures. It feels awkward throwing just anything up there.

But seriously, Blizzard has a good idea with trying to maintain a better e-community and it's clear they care about there members(whether you want to admit it or not, they do). If the integration is not required I would never do it. It's turning into a myspace at this point in terms of how it's open to anyone to look at. Though for free 80's, pets, and my own working I.W.I.N. Butoon, then i might consider it

only one of their series is an MMORPG. two are RTS and the other RPG/Action. they dont make shooters though SC2 will probably have many first person and third person shooter custom games.

yep SC ghost looked very interesting. not sure exactly what happened but it seemed like blizzard just took their time making the game as they always do and it just became dated. it was set to be an xbox game i believe then xbox 360 came out and it still wasnt finished lol
