Just wonder if its worth all the disablelizing of the steps I went thru under the guilds to maximizing laptop with TuneXP and all...

Inital boot up time with Speedfan, NHC, and works ~ 44 secs to user log on.

After tweaks( Tune XP, MSconfig, and services msc) was only 38secs and this is with Restore off and unchecked Allowing Indexing Service to indes this disk for fast file searching. All that work for 15%? Is there something I didn't do right hehe.....

Should I restore to original options which didn't limit alot of stuff and deal with the 42secs. Or do you recomend using another way to decrease boot up time. I will be happy with 10secs decrease and excited if I can get 15 secs less.

Update- 28.4s system start up time according to Boot log Xp,however, by my stop watch its more like 32s, then about 40secs for all the other software to finish loading

    Hi Azinfellow,

Before defragmenting - 60 sec to show logon. 90 sec to load everything. Everything is:
Intel Proset with connecting to AP, Motorola SM56, Activesync 4.1 (with pocket pc connected, so it starts synchronizing), Sharkoon dynamic 5.1 headset driver + equalizer, Notebook Hardware Control, Realtek Soundeffect ALC880 driver, Microsoft Antispyware with all agents on, Catalyst control center, Intellipoint driver, Synaptics driver, and other services like fax....

After defragmenting (including offline system files hiberfil and pagesys defrag) - 35 sec to logon, 50 to everything.

Resume hibernate - 25 sec to logon. 30 to everything. Edit: (0 sec to everything)

So I guess nothing can beat hibernating. Notice that my hiberfil is 2GB!

I measured time from the moment the BIOS pic showed first.
My C holds only windows and program files. Whole my profile is on D: That was not defragmented! I didn't play with any of the methods of speeding up windows like turning off indexing or anything...
Edit: My BIOS pic waits 4 seconds to choose Boot device if I want (it is kind of a feature). So actual loading is even faster.

    Cheers,
