I'm level 23 Mordecai right now going through the game my first time, and I got a few missions in the East Rusomething (such as the one where I have to get 10 canned Skag meat). I went there thinking that the place would be like every other place I've been too, but no... All the enemies there are level 30 and all have skulls before their names (I'm assuming that means that I should watch out for them). What's up with that? Am I supposed to level up to around level 30 before doing those missions?

yes. you need to be higher level or take higher level people with you. There is a automated message that kicks in the first time you see one that says that the skulls tell you that it would be bad news to even try messing with them. You won't be able to do anything against these guys at your level.

to add to xarthos comments, the biggest problem i have with higher level enemies in this game is that the damage you do is significantly reduced to them, so even if you could kill them, it makes the battles way too long and inefficient and just not worth trying imo

This is one game where doing quests pays off, even if its a lower level than you and in grey you still get a good chunk of XP for it.

Yes, I was level 30 when I tried that mission. In the quest log, it tells you the recommended level to complete that mission (for example, it would say 'Level 27 - Impossible' in red if you tried doing it when you were level 23). I think it was 27.

I'm level 25 now, running people over with my car and doing some side quests... Hopefully it won't take too long to level up. Anyone know a good place to level up/loot? When I was lower level I used Sledge's Safehouse to level up and loot, but now I loot from the 5 chests in New Haven, but don't have a particular place that has a decent boss to level off of.

Hm... I don't have any problems keeping up with the difficulty levels... Simply do all the side quests available and kill anything you see o_O

Yeah just grab all the quests do them in order from lowest level to high and go kill stuff. There really is no grinding required in this game.

With experience under my belt I think I could beat the game and get lvl 50 in just one day with a new character if I devoted a whole day to it.

Yeah I would have to agree with eveyone here, the pacing of this game was done very well such that if you're keeping up killing people in your path instead of avoiding them and keeping up with doing any quests that are your levels or lower (yup, grey quests do make an impact), then there really shouldn't be any grinding to get to a certain quest within your range

IMO the most lucrative (economically and xp related) place to grind is in the racetrack with all the scythids (or w/e) because they yield some good loot (especially the green bada** ones) and they are 1hits.... while at his level at least....

    (thats a lot of parentheses...)))))

Speaking of Rakks, any easy way to deal with them? I usually use Bloodwing and let it do all the work...

A raphid fire weapon when they are coming to attack is an easy way to take them down. Just point a SMG and hold down the trigger and watch them turn to mush right infront of you, also lets you collect the loot. When you shoot them down in the air the stuff goes everywhere.

Generally speaking, small-profile , weak, flying animals are subseptable to shotguns. Spreadshots have a much greater chance of hitting their narrow and bobbing silhouettes. You'd have a hell of a time tying to hit them with a sniper since they don't stay still.
