Who has it?? I might run by some shops to see if I can get a boxed copy for my collection. Im not a fan of digi-games and hate steam. From the reviews I see it sounds like its better than the first and has awesome writing/voice overs.

wow.. just found out about Greenman Gaming and might give them a whirl.. having a new game on sale day of release is the kinda crap I like! its on sale there for $47

    You'll still need Steam.

    That is correct.
Gearbox choose Steamworks DRM this time over Securom and i hate Securom. (Starforce was worse though)
You can still buy it in the store to get a physical box and DVD but the main game needs Steam to install and launch.

I liked the fact from the reviews that the plot is stronger than in the first. The plot in the first was paper-thin..."here's a catch quest, here's a kill quest, we'll only pretend that there's anything that ties them together."

What concerns me about it is my same problem with the first--the combat is designed around multiplayer, to the point where it's frustrating on single-player. There are certain situations where you were clearly meant to flank the enemy (alpha skags, turrets). But you can't flank in single-player. Reducing the combat strength of the enemies for single-player doesn't change the fact that certain key battles were designed around teamwork and cross-fire, and you simply can't do that single-player.

Cant say i heard about the PC version supporting split screen play like the console release either so even that wont be an option.
Does it play over LAN like the first game or is it purely online only?

No split screen on PC pretty sure.
Game is good only messed around a couple of hours so far.

One thing they did that ticks me off is instead of having an uncensored version and a censored version like BL1 they just cut down the gore greatly so they can release the same "uncut" version world wide. I think that was a very underhanded move to call the game "uncut" worldwide when really they cut the game for everybody...

My character is Maya for messing around and playing solo, and I will be Zero when I play with our recording group.

It doesn't feel like a console port, but I don't understand the new "slim" UI when the split screen is now horizontal - feels a little clunky. Also my friend was peeved when he lost 2 levels and had to redo a whole bunch of side quests. He even lost the weapons he got from the golden key crate which he accidentally opened, lol.

I'd say it is a pretty quality version of the game, and the platform of choice. It looks beautiful without modding any INI files, controls are fluid and responsive, and the interface is a lot more mouse-friendly than the first game. You can tell it was designed with a controller in mind, however the menus are easy to get through, and not a nightmare like vanilla Skyrim or Oblivion.

There are also several settings to play with to make our HUD less consolely (AKA, HUGE) if that is your thing and you'd rather have a non-intrusive, pushed to the side HUD giving you a better view of the gameplay and environments and not ammo counts and health bars. Also, FOV settings are fully changeable in-game this time around as well.

Even vehicle combat is a lot better. You still drive around with a Halo-esque sense of control (you drive in the direction your reticule is pointing, no A or D key for turning), but it works a lot better than the first game and doesn't feel as janky. Having a lot of fun with this so far, definitely recommended if this is your style of fun! :D

So you guys recommend it then? I might wait until an early deal comes out from somewhere and I will snag a copy. I never managed to finished Borderlands 1 but it sounds fun as a co-op game.

I've heard it's a solid game all around. Someone said its what Diablo 3 was supposed to be, just with guns.

Others have said that the game is most enjoyable on co-op whilst playing solo causes for a very difficult time. I'll let you know exactly how difficult the game really is once I play it.

I love it.. I played and loved Borderlands 1 too tho. I am pretty bad at it tho, after years of playing games on the ps3 I cant control myself well at all with keyboard and mouse anymore! its sad. But I should come around... was only able to play about 6 hours so far.

Playing solo with zero is noticeably harder than solo was in the original. I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing as of yet. Overall the game is great, with a few gripes here and there. I also miss every class having some sort of ammo regen.

Well I just got it and I am downloading it now. I have Borderlands 1 and I liked it even though I found that soloing got boring. Again, I can't wait to try it out now that I got it.

I'd love to do co-op with you if you'd be interested.
Just don't like doing co-op with random people who can range from prepubescent children to women in their time of month.

Seems to me that the cure to the no-crossfire-in-single-player is the same as Borderlands 1...play as the soldier. Axton's Longbow turret skill looks like it could set up some really interesting crossfire situations. I'm thinking about getting Borderlands 2 for single-player-only, playing as Axton, getting a few points in preparation for healing (always an issue in Borderlands 1), building up the Gunpowder tree until I get a Longbow turret, then pumping everything else into the guerilla tree. Thoughts?

Love the theme song they picked for the intro movie. Same theme song used for Cinemax's Strike Back.

Hopefully I'll get some time to play around with this tonight. But for sure tomorrow. Looking good so far...

Any of you have issues getting the Pre order dlc codes? Got my game (for 360, don't kill me) at the midnight release, but no code  they were supposed to be emailed

The extra DLC was already included in the gamecode i recieved for Steam but i would probably try to contact the place you bought the game from.

    To everyone else:

Me and Vicious finished recording 2 hours of content yesterday so here is the first 20 minutes of it with more to come.
I recorded it on my notebook so you can see how well the GTX 680m handled it but i had to set PhysX to low since it totally kills the framerate in heavy firefights.
Might need to remake the episode though since it looks to jitter compared to the source so im in the prosess of rendering it again with different settings.

IT DOES INCLUDE SPOILERS!!! so you have been warned!

I have, and so have many others lol. There's a bunch of threads about it on the best buy forums. The was the first and last time I get a game from best buy.. If what a guy on their forum is saying, there should be a way to get them to fix it in the store, so I may try that tomorrow

Im excited to check out your gameplay vids. I havent gotten to play as much as I would like. And I love checking out the crazy guns!

Got it for $29 on Black Friday and, despite only having a couple hours of play so far, I have to say it's worth every penny. Much stronger plot than Borderlands 1 (which felt like a series of fetch-quests and kill-quests) and the Gunzerker is ridiculously cathartic after a long day at work :)

I am really tempted to buy this right now, if only to support the continued use of Steamplay as a way to get more AAA titles ported to the Mac. $30 via Steam sale seems reasonable, though I might wait until the winter sale to see if the price will drop further.
