Is this legitimate?
Yes, Yuplay is a legitimate Russian online shop who sells retail game keys, like Amazon Digital Download Services.

From where can I download the game? Can this version be activated on Steam?
Yes it can be activated. Borderlands 2 is a Steamworks game, so it can be activated and downloaded from Steam.

Is the game in Russian only or international?
You will get a Russian region key when you purchase the game. What does this mean on a practical point of view?
It means that when you activate it on Steam the system will write that it is RU version:


The Russian version has only Russian language (voice+text), BUT no need to worry, because when you add the Russian Borderlands 2, you get the international version for free with English voice+text! So technically you will see 2 Borderlands 2 games in your Steam game list, the international version with English language and the Rusian version with Russian language only.




Can my Steam account get banned for this?
Why would it get banned? That site is legit, they are not selling stolen keys.

Is there Region lock on Steam for this item? Do I need to use VPN server to install or play this game like it is required for some Russian region games?
No, there is no region lock. No, you do not need VPN server to activate it on Steam and no, you don't need VPN server to install and play the game. I activated, downloaded and played the game in the European Union without seeing any problems regarding region restrictions that Steam really likes to apply for some titles.

What can I use to pay?
There are several methods to use for payment, probably the easiest and cheapest one for international customers is by credit card. Yuplay uses a Russian/Ukrainian financial site, RBK Money to handle credit card payments. I used Mastercard, all went well.
Paypal is not available.
note: some people reported that there might be problem with certain Visa cards, if RBK money can not process your Visa card, then please contact your card issuer.

How can I purchase?
It is really simple.
1) Click on the drop-down menu on the top-right corner and change the language to English.


2) Click on the big yellow button on the right side


3) Click on the yellow buy button that is next to the VIsa/Mastercard logo


4) A new page will appear, here click on the "Pay via RBK money". When you click on this button you will be redirected to an Ukranian/Russian financial site that handles credit card purchases for Yuplay.


5) On RBK Money's website fill out the required fields and click on the buy button. When you are done here you will get a link that takes you back to Yuplay's website with you game cd key.


Do I pay in US Dollars?
No. You pay in Russian Rubles, your credit card issuer will handle currency exchange. The actual price of the game may vary on current exchange rates.

(The price that you will see while paying is NOT 550 USD, it is 550 Russian Rubles!)

Do I need to register on the Yuplay website to purchase?
Yes, you need to create an account to handle purchases. Tip: on the right-up side of the site you can change the language from Russian to English, that really helps with the registration and payment.

Can I purchase several Borderland 2?
No. Yuplay only allows 1 of the same game /account.

You get 2 keys. "Registration code" is used for the Steam activation and "Activation code" is for...well, I still don't know this yet, since multiplayer worked without this, any idea somebody?

If you're in the US it's a little hard to get the site to work. The CC service they use won't accept my CC..I tried 3.

 

Yeah I've been wondering too how they manage to pull off a sales like that. The game is barely few days old.

I've manage to buy it, my debit card that RBK has always accept previously is now rejected... Very odd but I manage to get it working with my parent's credit card.

Anyway I would like to verify what OP has said, I do get 2 borderlands 2 options for me when I activated my key. As I heard the russian version is region locked, this is definitely a big relief.

Different games are different prices in different regions. Last I checked, most games retailed in Australia for 100 AUD, even though the AUD is more or less at parity with the USD. Some countries are quite a bit cheaper.

 

Thanks for the head-up and all the pics OP. For some reason I'm still hesitant about trying this site, maybe it's just my overly-cautious side. I skipped the BF3 one when I saw it a while back but this deal is absolutely nuts for a game that came out a few days ago. This is probably the cheapest this game is going to be for another year. Oh, before anyone asks: "No, you can not gift the "other" Borderlands 2".

 

Yuplay is a legitimate gaming sites and it was the matchmaking service for wings of prey so I am quite familiar with it.

But I have not bought anything from the Site. So only one person so far has confirmed it's working with steam and you get the english version too?

I ALWAYS test these games before I post about them to check for English language and region lock. I tested Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3 and Sleeping Dogs too before posting about them to avoid any inconveniences.

 

Just so you know, i trust this site and have used it to buy 5 copies of Sleeping dogs for myself and other users BUT Borderlands 2 is giving me a Invalid CD Key on Steam.

 

Just write a ticket on the site's webpage about the problem and they will give you a new key. Probably a small problem in their system, but don't worry, you get a new -valid- key, your money is not lost.

 

oh well so i bought the standard edition and it worked fine.

Guess i got a free copy of Borderlands 2 Premier club edition to give away. I'll see what YUPLAY say if they will refund me. If not, i'll give it to someone here to try.

It would be cool if this really would work, but I'm note convinced. And I can say that I bought 2x Sleeping Dogs copies that worked flawlessly.

 

good point. I have bought a steam version and activated it with no probs. I actually have 2 copies in my games library. Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 2 RU.

Yeah had that problem with Sleeping Dogs. They don't accept US credit cards for some reason.

This site is legit - despite my issues with getting a hold of a key it's legit and until there are import laws against Russia no one should be worried about anything.

I've just bought the game. My credit card got rejected at first, but then I talked to the online support, had to send them a photo of the card so they could verify it and everything worked flawlessly afterwards. I also got 2 versions of the game as said by others here (RU and international).

I've got the same problem with Green Man Gaming that won't accept my European Master Card or even PayPal.

 

I think you can talk to the customer support and send them a photo/scan of your card as I did and they can manually accept your card then.

Ok, well YUPLAY wouldn't refund me but they have issued me with a new key. So i have a Borderlands 2 key for sale. £10 for just standard edition and £20 if you want the Premier edition which includes Golden Guns DLC.

There are plenty of other easier places to get a BL2 key cheap. I think $25 for this game is a great value. Can get that at a few sites and they have been verified legit, real etc.

Cheapest price I see is $26 USD now, no nonsense, verified working with EU/US co-op play, and simple Paypal/Visa rather than a messy Russian pay methods.

Btw, many keysites have it cheap too, but be careful with those, because your account can get banned if you buy from those sites, because they are not legitimate. Yuplay is ok.
