Borderlands 3 gameplay is looking spectacular. In this video you’ll see Griff’s hands-on footage captured from the latest build of the game. He experiments with two Borderlands 3 characters, picks up some of the best Borderlands weapons, and plays around with some Borderlands 3 classes too. There’s so much loot, but still, we we could always have more. Where’s a Shift code when you need one? 14:45 for Moze gameplay

I noticed BL2 updated, I wonder if thats what it was? Gonna have to take a peek next time I'm on Steam.

It looks like 2K games went Nuclear on one of their most dedicated fans, who knows exactly why, but it's not a good look on them... Laymen Gaming does a good job bringing the details together - this is their 2nd video about it, check out their channel for the other one if you are interested.

Looks like more skeezy BS going on with BL3 release (today), maybe wait a week or two for the real reviews to come out before spending $ on it:
Report: 2K Games Attempting to Manipulate Borderlands 3 Reviews
A new report suggests 2K Games is attempting to manipulate Borderlands 3 reviews to prevent negative coverage of the game.
Published on Sep 12, 2019 at 10:35 AM, by Drew Taylor
https://www.themix.net/2019/09/report-2k-games-attempting-to-manipulate-borderlands-3-reviews/
"A really bizarre situation concerning review copies of Borderlands 3 has surfaced.
Certain publications have reviews of the game up, but many outlets were denied access to the game. Citing security concerns, publisher 2k Games offered the outlets who were left out a copy of the game 24 hours before release. This means that by the time their reviews will be out, Borderlands 3 will have likely already been through its first week.
Kotaku specifically notes, “A representative for 2K cited security concerns and told us we’d get code for the much-anticipated loot-shooter on Thursday, September 12, the day before it launches.”
VG247 also reports they were not sent a review copy, “Publisher 2K has only sent early code to a select number of US outlets, citing security concerns.”
What’s even more bizarre, is that the outlets who did get a copy of the game, didn’t even get the full game. Reviewers were given special Epic Games Store accounts pre-loaded with a work-in-progress build of Borderlands 3, alongside warnings about instability.
Normally, publishers send out a review key or review copy of a game 2 weeks to a month prior to its release. This is so that reviewers have time to play the game thoroughly enough to post a comprehensive review.
In this case, the reviews that made it online are not even of a finished build. This begs the question: Did 2k Games intentionally arrange this to control the average review scores of Borderlands 3?
It sure looks like they want a rock solid Metacritic score. Giant Bomb co-founder and editor Jeff Gerstmann claimed that a 2K Games representative refused to send any review copy in advance due to Giant Bomb’s past coverage.
He eludes to it in a clip from Giant Bomb’s most recent podcast, where he says, “We were told, and I’m paraphrasing here, but we were told by a 2K PR representative that based on the sentiment of our E3 coverage they were going to send it to us a little closer to launch.” They add, “They wanted to micromanage reviews for a good Day 1 Metacritic.”"

I've been watching Borderlands 3 streams for a couple of days - really liked the integration of the game and the Twitch with ECHOcast extension which can do things like seeing the stats of the streamer's character, see the inventory or do things like control which loot streamer gets and which abilities the "Badass" bosses will have when streamer will fight them. Really revolutionary and fun way to interact with streamers, hopefully other games will integrate similar features:
I also bought it myself - yes, Epic Store sucks but I wanted to play it and it is the only way. So far the game runs perfectly fine on my Dell G7. I will not say whether should anyone buy or not buy the game, just gonna mention that if you want to decide whether the gameplay is for you - watch streams on Twitch and decide for YOURSELF, don't listen to any person who might have a bias against a company for any reason and as a result of this bias completely ignore the gameplay quality itself or might have "different expectations" about gameplay. Watching streams does not cost anything and you can simply ignore streamer's own opinions and concentrate on gameplay that you see. Be a rational person and not a sheeple who bases the whole life off someone else's subjective opinions ;-) -

Oooft, first video for a long while. Sorry for the mic and the editing quality!
This video was recorded roughly 10 hours after the game going live and is based on around 3-4 hours of game-play experience.
This is only a video to talk about some problems myself and a number of players have experienced with the PC release of the game. These are (or seem to be) specific to the PC release only. This video is in no way intended to be a review of the content of the game, a lets play or game-play video, or a drama video.
If you haven't experienced any issues with the game, are currently enjoying it, or are not enjoying it for any reasons that are non-technical, then this video isn't for you. Although I do mention it in the video, please don't start a war about "Epic vs Steam," "Epic is Evil," etc. I've seen it literally 1000 times in trying to find solutions to my technical problems with Epic's service - that **** is boring and not a whit of anything has been achieved by it 'cause Epic and Steam don't care about you. Make THEM listen, not the other person they also don't care about who has a different opinion to you.
If I come across any solutions that work for me other than the mitigating solutions I mention within the video, I'll put the solution in the pinned comment.
With that being said, the Borderlands community has been well-known recently for some fairly partisan behaviour. so I'd like to officially ask that any commentors keep things civil - just know I'll be deleting anything offensive or inflammatory directed at other comments or members of the community or development team. Or, if you have to be a dick, at least make it creative and funny. The publisher and Head Honcho at Gearbox are fair game though
Well, that's if any of you watch this crap anyway. If you do, please comment so I wrote all this bollocks for a reason. Ta.
Please note, I am not monetizing this video. If you see any ads, someone has claimed it (probably for the song) or YouTube is dodgy af. Probably both those reasons to be honest.

Yea, there are some performance issues with the game - I cannot run it at maximum settings on 2070 Max-q but decreasing the settings worked great for me. The DX12 mode is also only working for AMD users now, but it says that it is a "beta" right when you are trying to select it.

It's met my expectations in every way so far. It plays great on max settings (badass they call it) on my GE75 @1080p around 120ish fps. Plays on my tablet with an MX150 @720p at medium at 30 fps or low for 60. Performance has been great, no dips that I've noticed like I used to during my 571 hrs of BL2.
The story has been good so far, and has the same humor you either love or hate. Quests seem varied so far, fast travel is nice, effects look great. Pre-load was super fast and actually unlocked early for me, prior to 6pm yesterday the 12th (CST). Haven't had any crashes nor issues tweaking controls to my liking.
Is it perfect, no. One thing I think they could so better is the inventory management. Still very much feels like a console UI, no offense to console players. Would rather they have smaller icons to show your full inventory all at once rather than just a few at a time.hmscott likes this. -
Joker rants about what appears to be the cause of the lag / stutter that is cured by going offline - stopping the 2MB/sec upload stream for Denuvo DRM. If you have the free upload bandwidth for the sustained 2MB/sec upload stream you might not notice. This could take a large chunk out of someone's shared bandwidth...and get in the way of game streaming as described in Joker's video.

The game when working in the best state it can today has been choppy with some kind of "mouse lag" that made me switch to controller it hurt my eyes so badly. Playing in multiplayer produced lag so bad that bullets wouldn't register on mobs, cutscenes would go horribly out of synch, and to top it off I have crashed to desktop three seperate times today. No noticeable pattern with my crashes either.
I'm just so incredibly disappointed that this game was approved for release. It has the potential to be great fun and I sincerely hope that Gearbox is working on fixing it because right now it is borderline unplayable for me and many others.

Amusing. It took this person over 2 hours to notice "unplayable frame rates"? And same exact thing would have happened even on Steam, which also has 2 hour gameplay refund policy. Only company that has better refund policy is EA, but that is only because they sell their own games ;-)

There is also a GOOD ADVICE someone gives that person in Twitter comments, about the fact that this game is using upload data to share your statistics with your friends and viewers (if you stream on Twitch) through ECHOcast extension, and that if you do not have enough upload bandwidth - you can simply disable this function in game menus (you can see from my own screenshot, I do not have this enabled since I am not a streamer). Of course, if you are person who is not interested in solving this issue and instead just want to complain for the sake of complaining - you would totally ignore such advice ;-)
P.S: for anyone who cannot play this game or don't want to pay Epic or wonders what the story is about - here are some streamers who are currently steaming this game. This is a MUCH BETTER way to judge the game than watching videos from people like famous YT parasite Jeremy Hambley (who has never played any Borderlands series and not interested in playing BL3 but just likes to feed on any negativity related to any game or any movie and copypasting random people's opinions). They have ECHOcast enabled so you can interact with what happens in game through that:
https://www.twitch.tv/cohhcarnage
https://www.twitch.tv/admiralbahroo
https://www.twitch.tv/dansgaming
All of those are very respectable to their viewers, they enjoy playing games (unlike majority of YouTube content creators) and generally pleasurable to watch. I would not recommend watching streamers such as "Lirik" because he is very disrespectful to the viewers, does not enjoy story in any singleplayer game and does not have ECHOcast extension enabled, but of course it is always up to you who you find more enjoyable to watch ;-)
Edit: Here is another screenshot with new character. I do not see even a 1MB/s upload speed with ECHOcast disabled (I am not a streamer so I do not need it). Not sure why some random people on interwebs assume that some copy protection is uploading something. Have anyone analyzed the traffic and found that it is a Denuvo and not a result of ECHOcast uploading data to Twitch and to people on your friends list?
No offense, but people should calm down with spreading the FUD about games, especially games they are not interested in playing themselves. Yes, this game does have performance issues on PC and on Consoles (there is a sticky post in Borderlands and Borderlands 3 subreddits about it), yes, DX12 support is beta (it is clearly stated as such when you select it in game) but there is no need to exaggerate existing issues to the point where the game might appear as an unplayable mess to everyone.Last edited: Sep 14, 2019 -
Also, Hardware Unboxed made a fantastic video about how you can increase performance by up to 50% while maintaining nearly "ultra" preset levels of graphics fidelity. They did some very exhaustive graphical option testing comparisons.
Felix_Argyle and Porter like this. -
After that I simply didn't buy a game until I was sure it was in good enough shape for me to want to keep.
Same goes for this game and others, don't buy unless you are satisfied by the reports of others just how the game performs for them.
You can stop fighting against reality and just let things play out. Just because there are lots of bad reports at the beginning with a game that doesn't mean it won't recover after a few patches and after a few months - sometimes 6 months to a year - the game is worth buying, even cheaper too. -
If it's a problem with a default configuration problem, that's still a problem that needs fixing, and there's no doubt that it helps to report the problems to warn others of what is going on before they invest $60+ in a new game. You have to point out the problems before fixes are known to be needed, setting off others on the quest to find the solutions. Then you can post the solutions when available.
As is most often 100% the case, it's better to wait for a few days, weeks, months before buying a new game and not be pushed to buy or influenced by others - peer pressure - to buy the game - I've certainly experienced it:
"hey man buy the game so we can play it together", so I ask how it plays, they eventually say "it lags, skips, hangs, and crashes" - so that simple question and honest answer saved me $60 and a bunch of time wasted.
There are plenty of Ra-ra boosters out there trying to push games on us, don't fall for their crap, good gamers investigate the scene before wasting their hard earned money on crap they can't play, which happens all too often - and it is happening more and more. I've found it far more enjoyably to be cautious and to wait for the game problems and fixes to be found and delivered before jumping in with my cash.
I'll wait for the bugs to get fixed with patches or configuration glitch solutions are found and let others waste their time alpha / beta testing. And in this case either I'll play it on Console - where it looks problem free - or wait for BL3 to be released from EPIC purgatory and be available on other platforms.Last edited: Sep 14, 2019 -
There wasn't any other known source for the upload bandwidth usage at the time other than the monitoring of Denuvo bandwith usage. Thanks for posting the other upload bandwidth source and solution.
That doesn't stop the Denuvo upload bandwidth affecting players that don't have friends to share data with - playing single only - but it's a good configuration change to try if you aren't sure which upload bandwidth problem you have - maybe both are in play for some at different times.
For some PC gamers Denuvo might have been mis-configured at the start at first connection to the service, or initially Denuvo configured purposely to constantly report at a 2MB/sec upload for some gamers, and now they've reduced it for a lower upload bandwidth. After all the complaints with Rage 2 Denuvo likely has built in better on the fly tuning to avoid getting tossed out by a game developer again.
Just because you aren't seeing it as a problem for you right now doesn't mean that others weren't / aren't seeing BLl3 upload bandwidth as a problem for themselves. I'm seeing reports of lower upload bandwidth usage, like 152kB which should only cause problems for the slowest of internet connections, but there are people out there with those slow internet connections.
If it's not the Denuvo / Sharing upload data causing the game play problems for many, then it's something else. Whether you see the problem or not doesn't negate the reports by other people seeing play problems, as there are lots of problems being reported.
As always, as the situation progresses and as new information is brought forward different problem sources and solutions are found. If you don't report the problems in the first place, no one will look for solutions.
I'll post some more reporting links later...Last edited: Sep 14, 2019 -

Borderlands 3 PC gamers dump on the game — in Borderlands 2’s Steam forums
Framerate drops and other performance issues widespread a day after launch
By Owen S. Good Sep 14, 2019, 2:48pm EDT
https://www.polygon.com/2019/9/14/2...tuttering-framerate-fps-dropping-steam-forums
"Disgruntled Borderlands 3 players on PC are unhappy about the numerous connectivity and performance problems they’ve encountered barely a day into the game’s launch, and they’re letting people know about it in the forums. For Borderlands 2. On Steam.
You’ll recall that Borderlands 3 is an Epic Games Store exclusive. Epic Games Store does not have forums. Nor does it have user reviews, thwarting the primary means of revenge for disappointed PC gamers. For while players are lighting up the franchise subreddit, the PC gaming subreddit, and the official forums at Gearbox Software, nothing says spite like unloading on a seven-year-old game in a marketplace that can’t even sell its sequel.
One Steam user pleaded with Borderlands 2 fans not to engage threads on Borderlands 3, and included a link to the Gearbox forums. People are still popping in questions and requests for help with Borderlands 3’s performance. Framerate drops and stutters appear to be the biggest bugaboo facing PC users.
“Need help,” wrote one player, “regardless of the graphics settings, frequent reductions in FPS, CPU and GPU are only loaded at 60%, RAM at 70, but the hard drive jumps from 0 to 100% and hangs at 100% when FPS reduced. I already turned off all Windows services that might be the reason, I also checked the disks, fragmented them, can there be a reason that the game is installed on the same disk as windows?”
“Try an actual Borderlands 3 forum,” someone replied. “You’ll probably get more responses.”
“ty,” OP replied.
The most recent guidance from Gearbox Software’s official Twitter account is that the studio is investigating all of these various issues, and users are being steered to 2K Games’ official support site to log a ticket.
Back in April, when Gearbox announced Borderlands 3 — and announced it would be exclusive to the Epic Games Store — angry PC gamers flooded the user reviews for Borderlands 2 with enough negative remarks that it triggered Steam’s first ever “off-topic review activity” flag, set up to combat “review bombs.”
Borderlands 3 launched for Windows PC, as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox Oneyesterday. Our review noted that the version we played was “obviously not … a finished version” that featured frequent crashes for users on three different gaming PCs.

Those YouTube clickbait whores never cease to amuse. One video they go "Game ****ing sucks, bad DRM, game developer is a little weasley **** with ****ing punchable face, don't you hate him?" (this is an actual wording of this Joker Productions person), the next one they go "oh, b.t.w, I will still benchmark the game - I will just pretend that I did not buy it but got the key for free so people would not assume that I actually do not hate developer and evil DRM in it which uploads at 2MB/s" -
Wow man, you really need to relax, you've gone way overboard with this. There are plenty of problem reports to justify Joker publishing the info warning people to hang back and wait for problems to be resolved with BL3 before spending their money on it. He wasn't the only one reporting on the ongoing BL3 problems.
Things change over time, and waiting for the initial issues to blow over, get fixed, or until solutions are found is far more "rational" advice than to simply ignore all of it, as there are plenty of sad gamers out there posting their woes right now.
All of the people you mentioned have put out lots of good news coverage over the years, and if you can't see that I'm sorry for you.
As far as BL3, for those that are able to play it that's great, they mostly seem to be reporting from PS4 / Xbox, and I posted a gameplay session earlier that was from a PC gamer that went on to Console to play and was having a great time.
If you are going to keep posting such rants each time I post information, problems, fixes, news, you are going to tucker yourself out. Pace yourself, and take time to enjoy your BL3 gaming.

And now you are accusing me of lying about recounting my Steam game refund experience too?
Sheez man, you really are deluded. I'm not lying - I can vouch for myself, and after watching Joker for years I can say the same for him. He and I may be mistaken from time to time, and our delivery may not be as savory as some might like, but we speak the truth.
You need to lighten up. You are really taking this too far with the negative condemnation made up in your head, it's not real.
Most people don't have the high end internet and PC configurations that allow us to have a higher percentage of success with games. You and I may not have game stopping problems with a game - we can live with unoptimized games - while many others are having problems that stop them from enjoying the game.
Ignoring their problem reports just because you aren't having problems, declaring there are no problems, isn't a rational view that respects the needs of those less fortunate. It's even more important for them to not waste $60 on a game they can't play.
You are doing a disservice if you encourage everyone to buy a game because it's working for you, when you see so many others suffering with problems.Last edited: Sep 14, 2019 -

He clearly put in the title it was a RANT - and he started out his video warning people it was a RANT.
If you are then surprised that he gave a RANT - with helpful info in his video - then that's on you.
When my posts inspires you and others to post fixes and solutions themselves instead of sitting around silently slurping up useful info without contributing, that makes me happy - it rewards me for the countless hours of thankless posting of useful helpful information - so, thank you.Last edited: Sep 14, 2019 -
Borderlands 3 is suffering from a raft of technical issues at launch
And players are turning to the Borderlands 2 Steam page for help.

"So that's three big games that are suffering problems at launch as a result of not being tested properly or just not being ready. Control has poor frame-rate issues which have only recently been improved a little with the latest patch. Gears 5 is having poor connectivity issues and even after the latest patch my cousin and I have been booted out of our co-op campaign and back to the dashboard twice within the space of an hour. A lot of our collectables aren't tracking either.
Now Borderlands 3 is the latest in that ever-increasing list to suffer problems. More and more publishers are releasing games in a broken state and fixing them later. This is a poor practice and even more so when you consider game preservation. In 15 years when the servers are all gone and you want to replay Control, or The Evil Within or Borderlands 3 or any other game that needed many post-release patches to make them playable, you will be left with no choice but to play the broken version of the game.
I understand that games these days are constantly updated but the meat of the game should be fully functional on day one. Frame-rate should be locked down. The majority of the bugs should be eliminated before release. I still go back and play 16 bit era and PS1, 2 games and 99% of them are free of major issues. I feel like if I want to go back to PS4 era games in 20 years time, a lot of them will be unplayable.
We are only encouraging the practice of games being released in a broken, buggy state by throwing cash on day one. We need to stop doing that no matter how badly we want a game because it really is getting unacceptable now."

"Observations on the PC version. For reference, I'm a huge fan of the Borderlands series and did an EGS pre-order for the top-end version of BL3. So I'm not trying to stick the knife in - these are just some observations based on experiences playing it.
- DX12 mode is completely broken. Don't touch it. In 2016, calling your DX12 mode a "beta" and having it be horribly bugged was one thing. In 2019, it's something else entirely.
- Don't use Borderless Window mode. It has all kinds of glitches and performance hits. I've managed to run back-to-back benchmarks, which on my PC (i9 9900K / 2080Ti) give 41 fps in Borderless Window and 78 fps in Exclusive Fullscreen.
- Borderless Window also forces vsync on. This is bad. vsync needs to die in a fire for the input lag it imports.
- Whatever your settings, there is random stutter. I'm running in DX11, 4k, ultra and it is mostly fine. But every so often, I will get a few seconds with heavy random stutter. Running off an NVMe SSD, so unlikely to be a data streaming thing.
- Control options are horribly confused. Vehicle controls are awful by default (vehicle movement tracks camera movement, so you can't drive one direction and shoot another). This can be adjusted in the menus. However, on PC, even if you are playing on mouse and keyboard, the options to fix things are on the controller menu. Weird.
This, like Gears 5, needed another month or two of QA before it was ready to launch."

"FPS drops, glitches, game freezing during cutscenes. The game itself is ok-ish, but it feels more like Borderlands 2.5 rather than Bl3. While i loved the humor in 1 and 2, Borderlands 3 did not manage to impress me. It felt like i was playing the prequel all over again, and i hated that game. The performance is really bad, it turns out that i cannot stream and play at the same time on a brand new PC. The game uses a new version of Denuvo which always runs in the background and generates high traffic on my network for some unknown reason. I understand you want to stop piracy, but you are punishing people who bought your game. As if all of this was not enough, all the drama surrounding the game is not helping its score either. Randy`s endless lies and attacks, Epic Store exclusivity, 2k sending goons after youtubers, all this anti consumer behavior will eventually affect the game`s sales and longevity."

Even if I will insult someone's ethnicity or religion or sexual preference, it will all be ok because it's just a "rant".
Is that how you honestly think? Would you consider it "ok" if I will call you same names here in forums (if moderators will allow it, which they won't for obvious reason)?
Also, once again, you are not being very honest. If you actually wanted to genuinely warn people about issues and provide them with helpful solutions - you would just post links like these. Most of these posts made in those threads are made by people who actually experienced issues and some offer actual solutions:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Borderlands/comments/d3fxr2/borderlands_3_problembug_megathread/
https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands3/comments/d3e8th/bugs_and_glitches_mega_thread_spoilers/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Borderlands/comments/d4c1eb/borderlands_3_problembug_megathread_2/
Those are also helpful because these subreddits are being read by official Gearbox representatives. Unlike clickbait YouTube videos made by people who just repost someone else's issues without offering any solutions by trying to exaggerate the issues for their own financial gain while also personally attacking the developers.
If you also genuinely wanted to provide people with solutions to issues, you would also go back to the tweet you quoted:
https://twitter.com/Kumakobi/status/1172867679616733184?s=20
https://twitter.com/Kumakobi/status/1172868734798766081?s=20
Which you did not doWhy have you not done so (quote these tweets with potential solutions)? You know you can edit your original post even if those tweets were made after it, right? Or you want to say you "did not notice them" before I mentioned them?
Why did you add links about old issues with Denuvo unrelated to this game? All those links from Techdirt and Extremetech, do you think old links about old issues with Denuvo would be helpful to anyone with the issues? In what way? To show that Denuvo might cause issues? But that does not prove it causes any issues that people are having with this particular game, neither it helps to solve any issues.
Why go so hard in trying to make people dislike this game, a game which you do not own and have no plans on owning (regardless of empty words), by posting unproven assumptions by random clickbait YouTube people like Joker Productions and Jeremy Hambly (who like to jump on any controversy without checking facts because they get financial profit) or by exaggerating unproven assumptions by posting unrelated to this game links (like you did with links to old Denuvo issues with old games) and by posting subjective opinions of Metacritic reviewers, without mentioning the fact that despite some people who have issues with the game there are also thousands of other people who have no issues with the game, the fact that anyone can verify by simply watching the streams here: https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Borderlands 3 ?
P.S: You don't have to answer last question. I am sure other people will be able to answer it themselves by reading all of your posts. -

"Have you considered not using the Twitch Integrations from Borderlands 3 that constantly upload your gameplay data to Twitch..."
6:40 AM · Sep 14, 2019
While I was off doing other things you had my posted info and links to use to track down the unfolding situation. Was that your thank you? You are welcome.
If you had simply replied to my post from 12+ hours earlier - 3 hours after that tweet was made - with a simple:
"Hey @hmscott, they found a solution - I think - IDK if it will solve everyone's problem, but it's another tweak / tune element to try to reduce the upload bandwidth usage".
That would have been what I would have expected, not all the crap you've unloaded here for no good reason.
During debugging and fix finding, trying out different theories as to the source of the issue, it's not at all unusual to be able to show the problem, even dig in further with monitoring info, and still not find all of the source(s) of the problem first time around. It takes time and patience, so you keep looking until solutions are found for everyone for the same problem, and solutions are found for all the problems for everyone.
Any useful data is useful to be posted when you find it. It may not be a complete view / solution, but if you to the best of your ability have found something you consider useful, by all means post it - others can benefit from your work thus far and can take it further themselves - maybe your post will lead to a solution for everyone - you have to start somewhere.
Crapping on the early findings of someone is counter productive and will get you dinged or fired if you keep doing that at a real life job. Worse, your negative character attacks can keep someone else from reporting something they've found, but are afraid to speak up lest they get attacked in a similar way.
That's why I suggest backing off and not immediately jumping in and wasting money on a game when release issues like this turn up in a game right at launch, especially after the publisher signals there are problems by limiting the review distribution with very specific parameters of limiting testing - waiting till the night before to release the game to reviews, as so clearly 2k did for BL3.
Gamers pre-ordering games and buying games on release without waiting for problem solutions, either from giving in to peer pressure, marketing pressure, or their own uncontrollable desire to play a long anticipated game, are rewarding publishers for releasing crappy unfinished games.
Please learn from this situation and reign in your condemnation and focus on the positives, add to the positives, and avoid the tangental personal attacks crap that delays everyone from finding the fixes they need. Thanks for listening.Last edited: Sep 15, 2019 -

Borderlands 3 Tech Analysis: PS4 Pro vs Xbox One X Graphics Comparison!

Published on Sep 14, 2019
Our first impressions of Gearbox's work on the console front, with PS4 Pro and Xbox One X in the limelight. These enhanced consoles offer two playback modes; either focusing on a 60fps target performance or higher resolution. But does it deliver – and which is the smoothest way to play the game on console?
kostas bousbouras 3 hours ago
"So, in Xbox X they kept the same assets with the base xbox and still has many framedrops in performance mode and runs at 1080p. In ps4 pro the game has better graphics, better assets, same resolution in both modes with X but the performance is somewhat similar in performance mode, unstable with framedrops like the X, and bad in resolution mode.
What the hell gearbox? what mess is that?... Honestly, having both consoles, if I was going to buy this game now, which I won't, I would not know what version to choose....the pro version with the better graphics playing in performance mode or the X version with the better framerate playing in resolution mode..."Last edited: Sep 15, 2019 -
Now it looks like there are multiple sources of upload bandwidth (Denuvo, Twitch, friend sharing, more?) used in BL3 that are taxing residential internet connections with low upload limits - of which there are many here in the US.
It's not unusual to have < 1 mbit - 3 mbit upload bandwidth limits on the average USA internet service. My residential high speed internet service has a ridiculously low upload rate compared to my 1000 mbit download rate. My upload limit is 13 mbits which would *not* support a constant 2.5MB/sec upload rate = 20mbits/sec required for BL3 upload bandwidth requirements + Streaming Upload bandwidth + other WAN upload bandwidth needs on the local network.
So I'm not at all surprised that many BL3 gamers are experiencing the high rate of glitches they are seeing without being able to figure out what is causing it.
The BL3 game should have shipped with all upload options disabled, seems obvious now to us, but for the developers with a commercial internet service - with the same transfer rate available in both directions - download = upload, it probably never occurred to them.
As BL3 gamers are reporting various ranges of upload usage I am assuming BL3 has implemented test code that checks the gamers upload bandwidth when the game starts is broken somehow. If you start streaming or start another upload against that same connection you could experience game glitches until the BL3 upload bandwidth test is run again and re-adjusts to the now lower available upload bandwidth.
Depending on how often that BL3 upload bandwidth test is re-run, what other sources on your network are using upload bandwidth, you could be randomly experiencing good game play interspersed with bad glitching - varying wildly depending on your networks WAN upload demands.
That would be a very frustrating gaming experience. Gee, I'm glad I waited and didn't waste time trying to play BL3 day one.
Hopefully a patch will come out that defaults to off for all of the upload options, and also some documentation on what options require upload bandwidth - hopefully with some estimate of how much bandwidth for each option.
If someone with the game has time to hunt down all of the BL3 upload sources - AWS**, Twitch, Denuvo, etc - and what configuration options to disable - or work-arounds for those sources that can't be turned off - like this, please do post your findings:

Borderlands 3 has a distinct sense of duality to it. On the one hand, it takes what worked, and does it again... perhaps slightly better. On the other, it almost feels like it is a game from 7 or 8 years ago that still houses some of the now brutally outdated frustrations. The game will be highly subjective in terms of appeal. For many, it is EXACTLY what they wanted, for others... it is less than adequate when considering its lengthy development time, and the hype surrounding it.

Anyway, for people having performance issues - here are some fixes they may try before patch will arrive:
1)If you have low upload bandwidth (your ISP is really bad or you use Wi-Fi instead of wired connection) - this game will transfer a lot of data in background because it uploads and downloads data using ECHOcast Twitch extension, as well as sharing your character data and your progress in game (which bosses you kill, which rare loot you received, which level you just achieved) with your friends. Until this is fixed, disable ECHOcast, disable all social features related to sharing your character data with your friends and remove as many people from your friends list as possible (if you do not want to remove friends - you may block game from accessing internet, this does not break DRM and will allow you to play the game for as long as you want, you just won't be able to play with friends) :
https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands3/comments/d3mwhj/holy_shit_i_mightve_found_a_fix_for_us_having
I have tested it - disabling ECHOcast, disabling social features and removing friends produces no significant background data transfer. Adding few friends increases background downloads and uploads, though it has no performance impact since I have fast upload speed ;-)
Same thing works on consoles (which do not use Denuvo DRM), just disable all social features and if that won't help - remove friends from friends list if you don't want to play with them:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Borderlands/comments/d4xayp/bl3_performance_can_be_fixed_on_consoles_by
Here is how your social features should look like if you want to play alone or want to play with friends with minimum impact on network speed):
Here is the network impact after all this features disabled and with no friends on friends list (you will see same exact results regardless if your upload speed is 1Gb/s or 10Mb/s):
2) There is a bug with settings where selecting certain preset will introduce performance issues. The fix is to set everything to lowest preset then manually set whichever options you want to highest setting:
https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands3/comments/d3huy2/i_may_have_a_temporary_fix_odd_one_for_the_ads
Alternatively you can adjust Texture Streaming option, setting it to lower values seem to have helped some people for whom the fix above did not help:
https://www.reddit.com/r/borderland...e_a_temporary_fix_odd_one_for_the_ads/f06ax7o
3) DX12 does work, despite it being a beta feature. Some people are claiming much better performance when using it. If you have performance issues in DX11 - try enabling DX12, the initial time may take long time, up to several minutes because it is not optimized yet but the results might make it worth it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands3/comments/d3sl5x/play_in_dx12_beta_mode_to_decrease_stutter/
https://www.reddit.com/r/borderland...layers_dont_make_the_same_mistake_i_did_play/
https://www.reddit.com/r/borderland..._works_much_better_than_dx11_on_some_systems/
If these fixes won't help - you need to wait for the patch. If you don't want to wait - just do a refund, then just watch the game played by people without issues, like:
http://www.twitch.tv/cohhcarnage (you can use VODs to watch him play from beginning, or find another streamer who is just starting to play).Last edited: Sep 16, 2019hmscott likes this. -

I hope other couples are having the same experience we are with the game. We haven’t really had a rough patch, but playing the game together this weekend, staying up late, laughing and yelling at different things in the game, anxiously discussing what would happen to our favorite characters as the story progressed, and downing junk food and soda to fuel our sessions has really brought us back to what we love about being with each other. To all the other vault hunting couples, I hope the game is as good an experience for you two as it has been for us! To Gearbox, I wanna thank them from the bottom of my heart for sticking to what makes the series great instead of growing trends. Your games have provided so much fun to so many, and even with bugs and all, I’m so grateful that BL3 is here. You all here on the subreddit, thank you for posting and keep it up! https://www.reddit.com/r/Borderlands/comments/d4z8yj/best_gunplay_in_the_business/
"This is obviously based on my personal experience. A lot of people can’t play the game right now due to performance issues and I’m sorry for that. But this post isn’t about that.
This post is about the gunplay in this magnificent video game. This post is about the finely tuned loot system that enables that.
I have always, ALWAYS, been a medium to long range player. From my days on CoD and Halo to how I play siege and other current titles. I’m not a demolitionist. I’m not a run and gunner. I’m very good in my own way, but that ain’t me.
Then came BL3. I started out with snipers (pew pew you know?). Fooled around with ARs and Subs and Pistols. Loved each style. By mid way through the campaign I could walk in a room and hipfire 5 enemies with a sniper before any other squadmate got through the door. I was feeling myself.
Then I slid into an enemy and meleed. Holy **** 75% damage to normal enemies? Wait. What if I paired that with a close range weapon? Let’s say a shotgun. Slide. Melee. One shot from a shotgun.
My god. I was reborn in the light of Leroy Jenkins. My conservative style went out the window and I turned into a destiny punchy boi. Into the motherfucking fray!
What’s my point? If this game can get me to explore an antithetical playstyle to what I’ve always know, then it must be something really special.
Has anyone else felt the same?
Edit: okay so there are a lot of people struggling with the difference between me saying “best gunplay in the business” and the statement “best guns in the business”. Gunplay is most accurately defined as an exchange of shots between at least two entities. Therefore, how a gun feels to shoot is only a fraction of the considerations when discussing “gunplay”.
Does destiny have better feeling guns? Yes.
Does it have better gunplay? When one considers movement, complexity, variety and feeling, maybe not.
Someone pointed out titanfall. Well sir you got me there. Thinking back, I do recognize that titanfall 2 specifically had the most satisfying gunplay as a package. But I think for me BL3 comes close"

I even enjoyed the PreSequel, although not as much as BL1 and BL2 (from what I've heard, liking the PreSequel is a controversial opinion). I got into the series because my friends who I met through playing the Destiny franchise insisted that I play it, for it was the original and perfected looter-shooter.
I didn't pre-order BL3, instead buying it the day it came out on the XBox Store. I absolutely adore the game so far. BL in general is such a breath of fresh air when it comes to video games. I've already dumped at least 24 hours into BL3, and I plan to pour many more hours into the game.
While yes, I do recognize that there are many glitches and preformance issues with the game, I personally have confidence in the BL team to fix them.
But overall, I realized whilst playing that I haden't enjoyed playing video games this much in a very long time.
So thanks, BL."
TL;DR: There are bad sides and good sides to every game. Despite some people heavily trying to focus ONLY on bad sides (for many reasons - some believe jumping on hate bandwagon will bring them more Ad revenue on their YouTube channel and others just get enjoyment out of it), there are many others who are enjoying playing particular game, in this case Borderlands 3. So don't look only on negative sides and technical issues (which you may never experience) but also on positive when deciding whether you should play it or not. Better yet, trust your own eyes, it is free to do:
https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Borderlands 3 -
Profiting from bad behavior is almost a past time with game companies lately, seeing how much they can abuse and offend their customers because they know the psychology works in their favor.
They know it's a syndrome they can take advantage of people who like defending anything that is being attacked - without even knowing whats really going on - people will focus in on some positive and defend them from that spun angle.
If you don't speak up about the abuse and bad things, refuse to reward them financially, they will keep getting away with the same crap as they do time after time - and they know that because there are so many Pollyanna's out there defending them from some fantasy instead of facing the reality of the situation and staying the heck away from them.
They know there are almost always positives to focus on - or they can lie and make them up, and that's how marketing spin works, changing the topic away from the clearly bad crap going on and influencing the Pollyanna's to pull out their pocketbooks.
Metacritic has been tracking a steady 50:50 split as to who is looking at the bright side of their situation on BL3 and who isn't. It seems almost like Metracritic is releasing a measured amount of good / bad ratings, as it's been like this the whole time, I would have expected the bad reviews to far outweigh the good ones, but been a steady 50:50 the whole time:

"What's the point of collecting eridium if it's only for cosmetics, shouldnt it be for augmenting your ammo/backpack capacity?
Players are banned for calling the wrong pronoun to Fl4k.
The humor is litterally taken from reddit, nowadays popculture is cringe. And are they joking when they put rick and morty references?
The rest is pretty much filled with bugs, save that delete themselves, and so on...
And btw is it just me or is every joke in this game PEE PEE POO POO since they're afraid that anything else will offend someone? I'll never forgive gearbox for killing Maya and keeping alive Ava and then blaming Lilith for letting Maya die when it was obviously her."

"Look honest opinion here as a borderlands game its a disappointment, The story was underwhelming, the villains are not interesting or compelling at all (compared to the god that was handsome jack), the humor is mostly miss with alot of potty humor, absurd amount of bugs and IMO the only redeeming factor in this game was the gun play and skill trees. i played with a friend and the whole time we just yelled disbelief at the story and logic behind anything......i loved this game series but this hurt me A LOT"

"I was excited to play Borderlands 3 after a bunch of hours from the previous games. But I cannot enjoy the game if I can't have a decent amount of frames. I play this game on Epic games after downloading Epic Launcher for the first time. I've made this account on metacritic so I can actually review the game and warn anyone who are planning to get the game this early. My laptop is Acer Nitro 15 with 1050ti and it can play Apex Legends lowest settings 1080p without having any problem reaching and maintaining 60 fps. But when I play Borderlands 3, an expected non-demanding game in terms of graphics, I cannot maintain 60 fps on 1080p. So i switched to 900p to try to enjoy the game I paid $60 for, but the frames are the same. This tells me one thing, my laptop is not the problem, it is the optimization that was so bad that certain places cut my 50-60 fps average (both on 1080p and 900p) into half, 30-40 fps. I also encountered the laggy main menu problem. I also found problems with the inventory because sometimes a gun is in a slot but the thumbnail is a grenade. This AAA $60 game launched worst than a FREE Battle Royale game (apex legends). I have submitted a refund request through Epic Refund Policy email, and after 2 days later, I have not received any reply yet. Now I see why Epic won't add reviews feature into their platform, so they can control the narrative and reviews so the games on their platforms look better than they actually are. "

"Bad game, I played it 1 hour and immediately asked for my refund, it is boring, slow and offers nothing better to its prequels, on the contrary, it was also a nuisance to have to download another virtual store to play it being able to be in Steam, do not buy it It’s crap."
Good point here, playing with friends makes anything more enjoyable, that may be a real factor in the positive reviews, they are really reviewing the camaraderie from playing with friends. Even if a game is crap you can still make it a fun experience with friends:
Have been Sep 16, 2019
"At least, in cooperative, while talking to your friends about random subjects it's much easier to disregard the factors that make this game boredom, as it feels like it becomes a secondary. You tend to focus more on these during single-player."
It is important to not shut up and let Epic, Gears, 2K and the rest get away with their crap and profit from it, because again, there are too many seeing the idealized view in their mind's eye instead of reality.
Here's some more of that "shipped the game before it's ready" fun that Gears / 2k / EPIC are spreading. Store mechanics problem with new saved game services? Or, problem with BL3 game code? Or problems with 2k use of Denuvo again? Too much fun:

It'll be nice to enjoy the game in 6 months or so when it comes out on another service and the price is dropped - or there is a nice sale or bundle sale - all this will have blown over, the bugs will be fixed and we can rely on good store mechanics to support the BL3 + DLC.
That will be fun, and I am looking forward to it.
Laymen deliver the RA-RA for BL3, such nice guys.

We finally review Borderlands 3, is it worth the buy?
If your frame rate is holding up.. then hell yes.
I've been seeing a lot of complaints from 2080ti owners such as related in their video, but 1080ti gamers are getting good results with BL3, as is also related in their video. I wonder if Intel + Nvidia Turing is problematic with BL3 because it was optimized with AMD for Radeon + Ryzen?
Also, no one has mentioned [or even noticed?] that BL3 doesn't have RT-RT at release - or will ever have RT-RT.
Who cares about RT-RT in a fast paced game like BL3?, it's simply not missed or needed:

BORDERLANDS 3 REVIEW
Bad jokes clash with great guns in a looter shooter lost in time.
By James Davenport 2019-09-09T14:00:58Z
https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands-3-review/
"My favorite quests were the least chatty and most shooty, a rarity, as the bulk of Borderlands 3 reads like teenage lunch table improv circa Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me.
Worse, there's no way to skip through the dialogue. Quests lurch into motion like an old car: listen to an NPC talk for 30 seconds, press a button as if twisting the ignition, more talking, more heaving of the engine, pick up an object, more talking, spit, putter, and now the objective location is revealed. And we're off.
Worst, I ran into a handful of scripting bugs where bits of dialogue repeated endlessly and quests became impossible to complete without restarting the game. Seeing markers for multiple quests at the same time isn't possible either. The inventory system is largely unchanged. Borderlands 3 is a bundle of aged design and frustrating inefficiencies."
Borderlands 3 system requirements, settings, benchmarks, and performance analysis

The latest tale from the Borderlands starts off easy on hardware, but you'll need to bring the big guns for higher resolutions.
https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands...settings-benchmarks-and-performance-analysis/
"...publisher 2K has said the whole game was "developed from the ground up" to take advantage of AMD's most recent Radeon GPUs and 3rd-gen Ryzen CPUs.
As such, it supports AMD's FidelityFX suite, and notably goes without the DLSS and ray tracing features offered by Nvidia RTX cards. Don't worry too much if you're on team GeForce, though: we've been testing Borderlands 3 across a range of GPUs and CPUs, and it looks like it will run at least decently on any hardware. Yes, even the cheap stuff."

"So I ordered the 100$ edition of borderlands 3 and played it without any problems for the first day.
After coming back to play again I opened up the epic games launcher and it says “get” instead of launch or whatever, and every time I tried to use the desktop shortcut it goes to a page asking for a cope that would apparently fix it. This website however does not provide and code at all.
At this point I just went to uninstall the game and reinstall it which would have been no problem, but after uninstalling I went to reinstall and it’s asking me to re buy the whole game.
I have no clue what to do have done tons of research on how to fix it but nothing works. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it thank you !!"

"Bought Borderlands 3 yesterday, set it to install while at work, got home late and tried to play- couldn't load past claptrap dancing load screen. Not in dx11, not in dx12.
Spent some time trying to find a fix, loading it over and over; decided since DX11 crashed fast, but DX12 just kept chugging along, I'd let it try to load overnight.
Didn't, was told I can't get refund. Because I had spent too long "playing"- i.e. trying to fix the broken game they sold me.
First response- https://i.imgur.com/KO1roFM.png
CS did not actually close ticket, I did as he said and tried opening a new ticket for further help and was immediately shut down as I had a ticket relating to issue already open.
Pinged original CS several times via email reply and got this response- https://i.imgur.com/6I8KapU.png
Have sent several more replies restating over and over the situation and that what they are trying to do is illegal.
I know the CS might LITERALLY not be able to authorize the refund, so also asked how to contact someone that could, or for him to bring this to his supervisor. No response.
Also opened a third ticket with several requests to keep the ticket open, and explaining everything I wrote above.
WHat the heck do do know? This first guy isn't replying anymore and my third ticket has not received any non-automated replies. Is my only option to just do a chargeback? I know I meet the requirements for it now, they refused to refund a broken product; definitely illegal in the state I live in (maine).
EDIT: response from a manager, again totally useless https://i.imgur.com/Quo7dt8.png

Forbes Borderlands 3 Advice...not bad...
There Is One ‘Borderlands 3’ Setting Every Player Needs To Change Immediately
https://www.forbes.com/sites/paulta...yer-needs-to-change-immediately/#2e324f207c40
"...As it turns out, in the menu under Accessibility, there’s an option to turn on “Mantle with forward.” As in, if you’re holding down forward, it will mantle you up to a ledge, rather than just using jump to do it, which is supposedly how it normally works.
I have no idea why this is an “accessibility” change, nor why this is not on by default. It almost totally fixes this issue by itself! It is seriously a night and day transformation for clamber which goes from feeling awful to working way, way more consistently and like how it works in any other games..."

Five Fixes ‘Borderlands 3’ Needs Immediately From Gearbox

I’m Sorry But ‘Borderlands 3’ Boss Farming Is Broken Right Now
Borderlands 3 is a lot of fun, but certain builds have broken endgame boss farming at the moment
https://www.forbes.com/sites/paulta...rderlands-3-boss-farming-is-broken-right-now/
"...I don’t know what the solution here is. I don’t know if more boss health is the answer because that would seriously hamper non-OP builds people try. It feels more like some of the top tier endgame builds need a liiiiitle bit of scaling back, FL4K’s insane crits, for instance. But even then, this seems like kind of a complicated problem.
I am enjoying Borderlands 3 in the late game here, but with this insane amount of loot dropping I feel like I’m going to get bored rotating boss burning runs in a matter of days here. It’s like zero challenge for wild rewards, and that can only carry the game so long."
Avoid This ‘Borderlands 3’ Guardian Rank Perk That Does More Harm Than Good
Guardian Ranks are fun in Borderlands 3 until you get to one that actively hurts you.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/paulta...dian-rank-perk-that-does-more-harm-than-good/
"...Gearbox says that they’re working on quality of life improvements for Borderlands and I hope a Hollow Point fix is one of them. Until then, cap your Enforcer tree tokens at 74, and upgrade the other ones instead. Trust me."
tl;dr - What to do about it? Wait for the patch...:

Borderlands 3 Could Overheat Your Xbox One - What To Do About It

"...Most people are recommending that anyone who experiences this issue to just shrug and keep playing or to wait until Gearbox comes out with a patch.
" Thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and support. We want Borderlands 3 to be the best game possible and are actively monitoring your feedback. We are working on performance and quality of life improvements and will have more to share soon at https://t.co/eUsZlAuGWf. pic.twitter.com/EXCSK6OlUg " — Gearbox Official (@GearboxOfficial) September 16, 2019
That patch might be coming sooner rather than later. Developer Gearbox recently posted on their Twitter page that they’re aware of the technical issues surrounding Borderlands 3 and are working on a patch that will address them. They also plan to implement several quality-of-life fixes, which might include increasing ammunition stores in the game’s various worlds. We don't have a timeline on when that patch is coming, sadly. All we can do now is be patient."
Sounds like the Save patch works? As I read complaints earlier I thought there might be some confusion between saving on the PC - and what that means as far as recovery - vs saving on Cloud and how to recover those saved game settings from either later. IDK if this fix applies to both saved states and recovery options. Did they just remove the option to choose, it sounds like they just got rid of the dialog box offering a choice...?

Borderlands 3 issue
"We have received reports of an issue with the Cloud Saves feature that can cause some players to lose their save data for Borderlands 3. We have identified the following chain of events that result in this issue:
- You play on Machine A offline or with Cloud Saves not enabled.
- You then play on Machine B online, realize your save from machine A has not transferred, and then quit the game.
- Then, you swap back to play on Machine A online, pulling down the empty profile from Machine B.
- When this happens, the screen pop-up shown above displays, to help resolve the conflict between the save states. However, we have identified a bug in which that screen is not always appearing.
