Anyone else than me feels bored of playing games in general?
I have been playing games each day since i was 6 years old and from today i am going to quit playing games because i don't find it any fun anymore. I dont know why but its just so boring. I used to love it but now i hate it and am selling all my games to friends.
I think i will use my spare time (which is 24 hours 7 days a week) for something different now, but i don't know what. My life feels so empty without gaming but after i have been playing a game for 5 minute i cant stand it and have do to something else because i feel like am gonna fall asleep playing. I guess i had a high overdose of games for the last 14 years and am moving though to something else.
I think am going to go study and learn another language or something...have to use my time for something...or just get some kinda extra job.
farewell my fellow gamers!

Well, if you look anything like your avatar, I think you should give the gym a few visits
-
get a girlfriend.
...and you'll be back, once new games are out -
Ying and the yang dude. It's all about balance. You will most likely gain your gamer feast back. But everyone needs a break. Go ahead. Get away from it, and then come back when you are ready to appreciate it again. -
Start up computer programming, it's a healthy waste of time.
No not really, it's fun and you learn a lot.
-
-
i agree with BHD......go find a new gf
-
yep the games you can play with a gf are something else.
probably will get bored in 14 years or so... -
man, don't listen to them. girls have cooties... you gonna have to format if you get infected by them. freaking sucks, and I don't want to backup all my brain files.
girls like most trojans, just slow you don't, and at the end of it, you don't got no game left. And not any Window Defenders or guys named Norton will be able to save you then!!! No more sausage fests for you, son -
lol i didnt understand you luffy.... but too much virtual world for you mate lol
-
I tell you what. Like everyone else said, get a GF, get a job, or better yet, a career, buy a house, marry that girl, have a kid or two or three... now tell me you're bored of gaming...
. <---- what's that? world's smallest violin playing songs of empathy -
yeah if you're planning a professional career then you'd wish you had enough time to play games. -

I always feel like I'm done with gaming when there is nothing new and fun to play at the moment. As soon as Spore comes out and Fallout 3 gets here I'll swear off everything but gaming.
But all the better for you. Maybe you can get in one of those rap videos. -
like its been said have a break i felt that way some year ago,try somthing new like mountain biking, reading or even food lol also try a diffrent style of games. you could try being a pimp i hear it pays well
-
I hear you dude.... I got bored of gaming last spring, and can't play for more than a few minutes any more. Since then I have been hitting the gym every day and working on bettering my social life. I worked all summer as well. Now that school has started I won't have time for gaming anyway.
Maybe I just grew out of it? I mean I know tons of adults who played games back in the day, but don't have much interest any more. -
Im experiencing those symptoms..... -
(my friends and I have a habit of equating real life to WoW) -
Might I suggest, Project64, the N64 emulator? You need to play Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, that's a game you'll come to love and cry with. I'll never get bored of it!
Nev-ar! -
What PC games can you play on your systems? Unless you've got a console and/or a better PC that's not in your specs, it seems like you can only play older games.
-
Step in to the world called Linux. (If you haven't already)
Start with downloading an Ubuntu CD Installer for instance, burn it, pop it in and experience a whole new realm of 1's and 0's.
If you like it, install it.
Start here.
P.S. Girlfriends are nice too but they usually take up a bit more resources than Linux. -
So OP, which are you gonna do? GF? Workout? Job? Other? -
Hmm im in the exact same position as you..and it couldnt have come at a better time to. Im of to uni in 1 month and tbh i dont wanna be gaming then lol. But yeh like after a few mins the games that used to be fun for like 8 hours get boring. Do what ive done find some new hobbies and go out with your mates more. Ive just started biking, playing guitar and even cooking lol. Its cool to actually have other hobbies other than gaming :/ good luck finding new hobbies!
-
Just play in moderation. Makes gaming way better. I play roughly 4-6 hours a week. Havn't gotten bored since age 12
-
You seem like you don't do much besides gaming. That's probably why you're losing appreciation for it.
I would buy the new GTA4...man the stress it releases and hours of countless head-blowing-off fun is priceless. -
I think I got the same way after burning out on Everquest, 6 years ago. These days very few games give me the mythical "OH WOW" feeling that games like Zelda64, Sacrifice, Netstorm, Age of Empires 1, Beyond Good & Evil, Everquest, and Half-Life 1 gave me.
It has been a VERY long break. But I'm slowly enjoying gaming a bit again, just nowhere near as seriously as I did when I was a kid. Luckily, my girlfriend is a bigger gamer than I am, so if I get back into things she'll be ok with it. -
The only games I've had the patience for this summer are rhythm games like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and In The Groove. I stopped playing WoW around May-ish and I can't say I miss it.
But dang guys, you're making me miss my N64. -
Play a sport! Get outside!
Learn another skill, something more social.
Get a good job, make your own business. Do something with your life!

It's great when forum members who lurk forums and spend time in a computer discussion website recommend going outside and doing something with your life.
Roflcopter! Ah, the irony... -
, although I feel like I'm 15 mentally, and 75 physically. I "quit" gaming years ago but came back to it after I realized it helps me escape the stresses of reality. Many of my buddies online are my age or older, but also are friends IRL. The online aspect allows us to meet and talk while not having to actually go anywhere and make our wives think we're great husbands and fathers.
Additionally, my taste in games have changed somewhat. I rarely pick up an FPS anymore, except for the likes of Half-Life 2, Crysis, or tactical FPS like Rainbow Six or SWAT. My focus is primarily on a good RTS, MMO War type game - mainly BF2, and combat simulations - mainly Falcon 4.
These games are more rewarding in the sense that they require more skills and thought. That's not to say I don't enjoy a good fragfest now and again.
Or if you get bored of gaming, just introduce yourself to Miss Michigan... -
Uh, I spend maybe an hour a day on these forums, probably more. But i spend many more hours outside doing sports and other activities. I played in a pretty important basketball game today, as well as runing. I run every day, coach a basketball team, and play compeitiviely as well as play other sports..... -
Well aren't you a cute little role model
.

I heard GTA4 sucked, I tried it, got into it and I couldn't stop. The story-line was fun, the side-possibilities/quests were even better.
But for you, who knows? I can't promote a game (and I shouldn't have) since only you know what your style is. Thats why on the other thread I started, I listed my favorite game types and examples. -
You should take some pill like Cialis or Viagra so it can relight your dying spark for video gaming. You can get it back up then.
/joke -
^^If I was trying to pull a supertroopers Id do that

Well i do have a job but it requires me to work only 30-60 minutes a day.
I run a import/export company with my GF. I live in Thailand but come from Europe so basically we sell stuff to Europe. This job requires me to respond to mail and once every now and than go out and re-fill our storage room with stuff to sell.
Earn quite good money on it and i was planning to hit the stock market but since i live in Thailand that is rather impossible since everything here is corrupt. I also used to run websites, we had up to 15 websites running at max. My GF is educated graphic designer... the money was however low and it required a lot of work so we just sold out the site for some sweet bucks and left it behind us.
My GF does not game at all but she spend a lot of time surfing on forums about dolls and stuff. She is 20 years old but still love dolls, that's why she allow me to game all day long if i want, but now i am mentally tired of that. She also does a lot of sewing and makes clothes and all kinds of stuff, so she actually does more work than me.
I was thinking to start swimming because we have a pool on top of the building i live in and that is in 21th floor so its pretty cool. Its outside so u can see all over the city.
I also tried to study Thai to loose some time but its freaking impossible and gave it up. So except from swimming i dunno what to do. Maybe read a book or something and gain some real knowledge, i know the Diablo 2 word better than the real world and that gotta change.
I also don't really have many friends here because most dudes here are *** rapers and the society in general are a bunch of criminal and corrupted scum. Maybe ill move to south Thailand and stay at the beach and go exploring some island or something.
My gaming life is however officially over, but i'll still hang out on this forum giving my uber experienced advices -

though if you do decide to, be prepared for pain.

Wow, this is such a Morbid tone for not gaming!!
It happens all the time, mostly as you get a bit older. The game just don't seem to cut it any more. Been there done that.
I've got several titles sitting on my PC that I've hardly scratched, because they didn't catch hold of my interest enough to want to play through. That and I have less time to commit to a long story line. Too many "where was I going again, who was that?" If I have something to pick up now and then, play a match, put it away, I'll be fine.
For this reason I tend not to play stand alone solo type games. For me the game needs to have a social aspect to it to be interesting. I think that's why I'll play on my 360 more than the PC. I'll get some friends over and we'll all play and shoot the breeze.
My advice, don't say "my gaming life is officially over" save the drama for the stage.
Say "my gaming life is changed", get a wii, play some rock band, relax you'll be fine.
And then there's always Heroin Hero....chase that dragon!! -
Hmm, maybe your brain just feels it's time to move on to different things? I think with your new found time, you can learn and find out new things about yourself. You can take up new things such as a new language that could be useful to you in your work.
I think it's not necessarily that you might have grown out of games, it's perhaps that you might feel that you need to spend the time doing other things, because there are other things besides games out there. Some people I know need to learn this though (someone I know only seems to talk either about lame music, lame animu, or like, WoW/MMo's/Xbox).
*edit* I used to play video games a lot during Elementary/Secondary Education, but I've found since I started College, I've been more focused on piratical things such as my education or things that will benefit me. I do play games, but only for a couple to a few hours a week. I just have other things to do now, and don't really have the time or patience. -

I have some interesting typos at time. xDDD Though, I do like acting like a pirate when I am bored... but eh. xD -
Sgt: Max Payne was AWESOME! I don't care much for every detail, but little things like the bullet-time feature really make a deep imprint into my memory.
-
The thing is that its so easy earned money, i work 30-60 minutes a day, but i won't see myself doin this until am 60. I should maybe study something and do this part time, cuz i got nothing to do each day. -
Well 30-60 minutes per day isn´t much. I mean you can still earn your money while you study. But with your money you could afford a high end computer, that might change your mind, also computers can´t be expensive in Thailand as they are in here in Scandinavia or US for that matter. Because the ones you have now you can´t have anything high tech graphically to play. Now graphics doesn´t make up the whole game. But to me it has become a very important aspect. Even if I grew up with C64, Amiga, Nintendo 8-bit and so on.
Back in those days the games were better in my opinion. Today the games has to compensate with great graphics to make up the game in my opinion. Try another genre maybe?
I am an avid wargamer/strategy game and I am a self learned graphics designer that have drawn graphics for 8 wargames so far as my side hobby and side income. Though the income is not great, but it helps me get away from gaming even if it is very hard to do I have to lay gaming aside for a month or so until I have the basic graphical structure, 3D models, Textures finished. -
Designing stuff like you do sounds fun, i have been looking into some of those designing books at a bookstore here but my drawing skills are really lame, on computer and for hand.
I am seriously thinking about about moving to south Thailand to a quiet place, than i could go o swimming and eat bananes fresh from my future banana tree every morning.
I however believe that my best choice is to study something, gonna check out some thai schools for farangs (white dudes) -
Here's another solution. Buy a good computer, spend time learning a couple programming languages and how to use 3D modeling programs and design your own games.
If I could, I would. Sounds like the life to me. But engineering it is
.
-
That would actually increase my knowledge very much and it would probably be quite fun at the same time. Designing 3d models and stuff like that. I will buy programs needed today and test it out on my laptop, if it runs bad ill get a new one with a quadro card. Thanks for the inspiration -
You are from Norway right? An OT question don´t you miss Scandinavia? I mean Thailand by all means, nice wheather and so but -> Scandinavia higher living standard.
I am from Sweden, sure Thailand would be nice for a couple of weeks sunny and hot. But I wouldn´t want to live there at all. To me that would be like moving to a second degree country if you know what I mean. Not to talk about that we don´t have to worry about any hurricanes or tornados or Tsunamis and such up here either
Not to brag but Scandinavia the best place on earth, no dangerous animals except brown bears that can be, no major wheather disasters, I live in northern Sweden and storms and such don´t hit that hard up here
So with regard what I said about best place on earth I meant you don´t have to worry about any tornados, hurricans, tsunamis or earthquakes at all.
We have had 30+ degrees here in Sweden in the summer and that in the shade. So we both have great summers and great winters especially where I live.
