Well Norway has maybe the highest standard of living in the world and have most money in the world per citizen. Overall its a good place to live. However in Thailand i have a higher standard of living than i could ever dream of in Norway. Not to brag but here i live in a 3 bed room apartment in 19th floor having a outside pool on top of my building. I got 24/7 security guards over the whole building. Downstairs i got 2 restaurants and a bar with room delivery. There are also live music in the bar at night. I also got a huge gym with free access and a sun tan studio. This is all my building and its very luxurious. The floor is made of white marble in the whole building its looks very clean and very nice. I my place all my furniture are black and white and most r made of marble like the kitchen the floor etc. My place is about 100 M2 or whatever they use to measure the size, so its pretty big. I got 2 small bedrooms and a very big one for me and my GF. i got 2 showers, a big kitchen and a big living room.

The funny thing is that this place is not expensive compared to what it would be to have a place like this in the US or Europe. I use a lot of my income to pay for the rent but i like living in a place like this. In Norway i could not get that much for what i pay to live here and there are no buildings in Norway that can compare with the comfort of the buildings and apartments here. If u got money in Thailand u live like a king and if ur broke u basically living on the street. In Norway everyone lives about average when it comes to housing etc. Sure u get free school and hospital and stuff like that but when it comes to comfort it will never each the level of this place or other good places on Bangkok.

I am not a snob i used to live in a studio here, i had only 1 room and nothing else but now since i make good money, why not take advantage of it :)

Bangkok also got everything for my needs.

Pantip - Maybe asia's biggest computer shopping center. This place got like over 1000 computer stores.

Overall i love this place and i looooove the outlife/nightlife. There are not much fighting and stuff like that and the mixed race girls r uber hot hehe. The clubs r also really awesome and if u got money there r some amazing places to see. Places that u could only dream of seeing in Norway. Everything is so huge here and i love that. We got sub way stations, sky train and 2 floors of roads many places. The traffic here is insane though. I love to live a big city life. :D

you just gotta be careful and not start trouble with the thais that could leave to a deadly assault. You can however hire police men or even ARMY guys to follow u around 24/7. I never done that though cuz am a man of peace and never do any illegal stuff.

True I can imagine if you have money and such, though nightlife has become more less and less for me, it´s not fun to just go out and get drunk. I do it occasionally but when you have 3 kids you prioritize other things than partying. Also I am 31 years old I have a wonderful girlfriend which I will marry soon. So no need for me to go out an partying all the time.

I see lots of people here where I live that are in my age that is out every single week, to me that is tragic, either they don´t have any life at all or they have problems with alcohol or they are single ;). Though you can of course have fun without alcohol. But here most people are actually drunk some more some less at the pubs and other places :)

It feels like I am to old go out and partying. I mean I have done my share to partying. I was out every weekend when I was younger when I were around 19-22 then I got my first kid and thereby automatically partying is not my number one interest anymore :) Though computers are and it works really well with kids and computers. I don´t sit at the computer 6 hour per day anyway. Too much OT from my side though :)

Maybe I am the typical Swede who drives a volvo. Though I am actually a Swede to drives a very precious and lovely looking SAAB 9-5, I hate volvo ;)

Do you own the whole building with security cards employed? Or maybe I got that wrong.

Nice, personally i don't go out much to, i mostly sit home on my computer all day. That will however change, i don;t got out and get drunk or anything like that i think thats just boring and annoying. I like more to go out and have a dinner or watch a movie or drink a few beers without getting drunk at a bar. When i first came here i went out like 7 days a week because it was so big and different compared to Norway. White guys here get a lot of attention so u almost feel like a celeb and its a pretty fun feeling if u never been anything like that before.

By the way i always thought u was some spoiled 15 year old since u had all the best computer parts hehe. it surprised me that you are actually over 30. It might be the way of ur writing using different emo's and stuff :) No offense though :) you just look younger by ur writing than u really are, but hey its good to be young :)

I am however not ready to have kids or get married even though i have been with my GF for 2 years now. I'll do that stuff when i get about ur age. now i feel ready for adventure :D .

I got some friends from Sweden here as well, good guys :)

The thing is miss in Norway is my family and friends which i have not seen for over 1 year and the cold winters. Here there r about 30-35 degress 365 days a year. Kinda boring bu feels good to wear t-shirts and stuff all day. Maybe i should start at the gym here, i got free access anyway and later ill go around in bangkok in only my boxers and show of my huge bodybuilding body hehe (kidding).

Edit: no i don't own the whole building or the security guards i wrote that a little confusing. I meant to say that the build has hired security guards all over it and to get inside the building u need a special electronic ID card. If you are a guest you need to get permission from the person u r visiting to get inside. The building also have a car parking and if u wanna drive ur car in there u have to drive bast a bomb detector first. The security is very high and i like that :)

Now I'm in Army with drag race car =D
but im stuck in iraq for another 5 months.
Try doing something else than sitting on the computer.

I got sick of upgrading my graphic card every 6months to keep up. Console game FTW! =p

Nah no spoiled 15 year old here, though I definitely look younger than 31 which isn´t a bad thing. People think I am around 20 - 23 years old. Also my writing like you said maybe makes me look or sound younger than I am :)

Actually I write differently in english than I do in Swedish since english is not my national language. Though I write more in english than swedish nowadays.

Lol, exactly what I was thinking.

You have 24 hours, 7 days a week worth of free time? That's nuts. Get a job. Go to school and work towards something. Or university. When you do those things, you'll want to take a break and play a game when you can. (like me).

Besides who can complain about so much free time anyway? If you like you say earn so much money and it´s not a lie. Since you said you would look for a job, why look for a job when you have so much money anyway? All this sounds iffy to me. I wouldn´t look for a job if I earned lots of money by just sending out a few emails 30-60 minutes per day.

And especially you who live in Thailand too where it should be lots to do. Go buy a new expensive car if you earn so much money and cruise around. Buy the best fastest SLI laptop out there along with building a super fast desktop. To me I get the impression that you are either lying about how "rich" you are or there is something else iffy about this whole thing, no offence though :)

Well i could get a job to earn even more, learn new stuff and kill some time, instead of playing games all day long. Free time is fun to a certain degree, i need hobbies and things to keep me occupied. Whats the point of free time if u just stay home all day doin nothing.

I am also not that rich i just said i earn more money than the average american/european. The reason i live in such a nice place is because its not that expensive to live because Thailand is a cheap place to live. especially when u earn about 20 times more than the average thai worker. In Thailand i consider myself wealthy but if i went to Norway with the same salary i have know i would just be little bit over average. So why be little over average there when i can literally earn 20 times more than a average thai worker here :)

I also don't got money to just go out and get a sport car, that would require me to save money for a while. I could however buy a brand new 4 door pick-up easily. The traffic here is also a mess so i would probably crash it very fast anyway. it is better to just take Taxi's here.

The funny thing is that an SLI laptop here is about as expensive as a brand new 4 door pick up :)

I can imagine cars and such is cheap in Thailand and a $3000 laptop would be like buying a car over there :)

Ah well I think you should learn to code if you don´t know it already. Maybe start to write shareware games and sell them. A good shareware game sells a lot many are very successful. That would be killing time :)

Yeh as i said in a earlier post i will be looking into 3d modeling with that maya program. Could be interesting to learn and ill try it on my current laptop. If it runs bad and i like this "hobby" ill get a new one with a Quadro based card. Those r however very expensive here. It is funny but i think laptops here are more expensive here than in Sweden. The one in my sig cost me about 3500 NOK with fake windows  i dunno how much that is in svenske kroner. I just know that i could get the same laptop in Norway for the same price with Legal Windows.

When u buy a laptop here u never get real windows u just get the fake stuff and if u want real u gotta order from Microsoft or something i guess.

Boy, as a pharm-student (who has a part time job)i have very little spare time and there are 100 things i could do with my spare time. After installing a new game on my pc, i may test it for about 30 minutes, then dream about how much i will enjoy the game during vacation.

I would go to the gym, learn french/spanish, learn how to play the piano, how to swim, tennis, skate/ski, go to the club more often, go out with my gf (if she is in town), drive around (love to drive..long distances just for sight-seeing)..... and play all the 5 games sitting on my computer, waiting for me to play them next vacation

You have all the time plus money.....I envy you.

I realized the older I get, the less interested in games I become.
99% of the games nowadays simply suck anyway.

Exactly how I feel. I used to game a lot when I was like 13-14-15 years old. I bought an X360 but didn't play any games but the bundled Saints Row, which I played for only a week or so. Games started losing my interest. I was really looking forward to Crysis when the first screenshots appeared, but the story line was FUBAR. I built a rig a week ago (Q6600, HD4850) but now I'm out of games to play. I tried Crysis and it was fun up until those aliens . I don't like Bioshock.. Alone in the Dark was a game I was really looking forward too but the controls suck. Big time. So, after saying goodbye to notebooks (I own a E1705 and M1330), I guess I'm back. I'm even considering notebooks with IGPs, something I haven't done before..

Personally, i would rather be bored to death than work. But that's just me: i simply mind don't sitting and doing nothing. I'm what you would you call "in my head", always thinking.

If you want a time consuming hobby try building plastic models like i do :)
Altough you spend much of the time waiting for the paint to dry.

Give learning Thai another shot. I lived in Thailand for 3 years and got really good by only having a tutor three times a week for an hour and a half each time. Didn't cost hardly anything. It's not a hard language by any means. It seems daunting at first, but really, anyone can learn it.

What do you think the average american/european makes by the way? Also if you own an company with import/exports it shouldn't be too hard to get PC components at better pricing.

Something sounds grandiose especially with your descriptions of property wealth, it's written very much in the perspective of a very young person, which just adds to my skepticism.

At this point it seems to have gone from I am done with gaming to I have this or that...

well the topic is about me and my lack of wanting to game, so let's stick to that from now on. personal life is pointless to discuss online, because online most girls r guys, most young dudes r old, most rich guys are poor etc. The stuff about my personal life was mostly directed to Magnus72 just to compare the Scandinavian way of living to this 1.

For now i got a new hobby which is 3d modeling in Maya and swimming :D
This thread is pretty much done for now so thanks all for giving me inspiration. :)

Awesome, if I had the time and patience in a day to get into gaming, they would be designed the way it's meant to be. Awesome storyline, amazing visual effects, loveable characters, thrills, twists and what a couple games seem to be lacking nowadays, a connection between every map/level in the game.

    Good luck :D

I have to totally agree with that statement. Being in my 30's, gaming has become less of a priority to me, and plus the newest games hold no interest for me whatsoever. I think the newest game I have is BF2.
