Inserting disc one just installs Steam. So I set up my account, which i think is complete bs, and went to install a game. Steam tells me that all files will be downloaded from Steam. On disc one, the only setup file I see is for steam. How do I install the games from my disc. I wish I hadn't had the idea to check out my new game(s) for a few minutes of my lunch hour. Haven't played a PC game in years and so far the experience is a huge disappointment. Frankly, its horsesh**! :realmad:

Found the answer at another website. Apparently to install from disc you have to initiate the install from steam. Then disconnect and rerun setup from disc one and select reinstall. Why on earth you would have to use a work around to install from disc instead of downloading everything is beyond me...

Heh, I really wish I could believe that.
However, I did not know that pc gaming needed salvation, last I checked, they were doing just fine...not as much money as they`d want, but still...

I feel ya, OP. I was in Afghanistan trying to play HL2, but it wouldn't just let me play the game as-is without first downloading and installing all the updates and whatnot, and on the slow-*** connection I had, that essentially meant I could never play the game while over there. It's BS.
