I have a X200M and I know its dog **** for gaming. But it's what I have.
Could anyone else with a X200M let me know what kind of games they are playing, the performance with thouse games and what tweaks they have done to better their gaming?
I can play Quake3. But that is the limit for me since the performance is a little sluggish. So whatever I can do to better my performance I will try.
BTW the X200M that I has does not have the internal 128MB built onto the IGP. Mine leeches 128MB from the system![]()
-
If you can play quake3 with 512mb system memory minus 128 mb for the video, then increasing the available RAM would help a great deal.
-
Thats the plan so far!
X200M has 32MB of SDRAM running at 200Mhz while the system memory is running at 166Mhz. I plan on taking out the 512MB that I have now and putting in a single stick of 1024MB DDR400 so that the system memory speed matches the IGP. So hopfully the increased speed of the shared ram and the amount of it will boost my performance.
Oh along with that I have installed the Omega drivers. Hopfully they will fair out a little better.
But if anyone knows of any system tweaks then please let me know. I'm aware of overclcoking and volt moding. But thats something I'm not risking to try on a notebook. -

There are a bunch of other threads on the X200M and its performance, do a thread search - a lot of useful information floating around.

768 Mb Ram
ATI Xpress 200M 128Mb -
These are the games that I think the x200m can run.
F.E.A.R. (Low - Medium settings depending on RAM)
Guild Wars (Low - Medium Settings depending on IC and RAM)
Counterstrike Source (Run on Medium - High settings with no problem)
Half Life 2 (Low - Medium settings)
Halo (Medium - High settings)
Battlefield II (Medium Settings)
Oblivion - Not Positive(I will test this when I upgrade RAM to 1.5GB or 2GB.) -
This is wat i know,
Supreme Commander : Forget bout it..
Command & Conquer 3 : There's a possibility u can play it.
WoW : Runnable -
Unfortunately that list is fairly inaccurate on a few counts...here are a few changes I'd add.
FEAR (not at all, to low)
Counter Strike (medium)
Battlefield 2 (not at all, to low)
Oblivion (Not at all)
Just in case somebody reading that thinks they can play the likes of F.E.A.R and BF2 on medium settings on an x200..! -
I have a couple of games i think will also run (some are pretty old games already)
Need For Speed Underground/Underground 2 - (low to medium setting)
Need For Speed Most Wanted - Lowest Setting (able to play with a bit of eye candy turned on)
FEAR - Have not tried.
Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Las Vegas - Lowest setting with minimal details turned on.
At least it's playable. Mine's a 128MB shared from system ram.
And somehow running a 64bit OS did help in it's playability. The game ran slightly faster. It had a Turion64 chip. -
Are you actually saying you ran Rainbow Six Vegas on an X200?
That would be pretty much akin to running Crysis on....something very, very crap. -

I have tweaked my x200m with powerstrip, upped the clock speed.
I play WoW, 1024*600 widescreen windowed, medium settings, 20-25fps.
I also tried:
NFSU2: playable on low settimgs at 1024*768
Battlefield 2: 10-15fps and major lag, totally unplayable.
GTA SA: very playable at low settings, 1024*768
The sims 2: very laggy, playable, just
City of Heroes: laggy, playable just but not nice
War Rock: Playable on medium settings, good fps but buggy. -
These are the games I'm currently playing with very good quality and excellent frame rate:
1-Medal of Honor Allied Assault.
2-Battlefield 1942.
3-Battlefield 1942: Road to Rome.
I bought this games pretty cheap. They run excellent on the 200M. -
Ok, update from me guys....
XIII from Ubisoft runs great, if you haven't played it its amazing. -
-
-
Uhh.... the game's minimum GFX requirements are 6600GT+ X1600+
It requires a pixel shader V3 an X300 has V2. I've even tried R6 Vegas on a radeon 9550 (PS V2) and it doesn't run..
Uhm, I've played an Xpress200M, and yes, oblivion does run, but on minimum settings. looks like poo, but atleast you can get about 30-40fps(128MB shared)

The 200m wont even run Rainbow Six Vegas.
Guys, don't listen to him, its false info. -
I want screen shots. X200M for Tom Clancy Las Vegas? Also in my book being able to run and game and play a game are two different things. I would not call having settings at minimum, lowest res the game offers and for the game to still be laggy "playable". Running it yes. Playable? No
I would hate for someone to read this and buy a laptop with an X200M thinking they can play Tom Clancy 6 -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Thing is Tom Clancy Six requires SM 3.0 which the X200M doesn't have.
-
Another game playing :
1- Commandos 2 y 3. (excellent, very good games).
2- Tried Battlefield Vietnam, it's kind of playable, but it gets very slow in some maps, most of the time will be in 30Fps, but will go to 20-15 in some maps with a lot of action, this is with minimum details.
So come on guys, post you're games.... -
To quote from another post by me:
Not too horrible for an integrated card, and that was with only 1GB of DDR400 on the 6.xx series drivers.
And as for Las Vegas, you simply have to edit some game file to make it say "RequireSM30 = False" or something close to that, and it'll run on 2.0, although not without a few bugs. -
I have a x200m all the ram as far as i can see is shared at 128
Coutner stike source at 15-20fps low -high settins seems not to impact fps
WoW at 15-20fps
Oblivion (not really playable) at 10 fps
Battlefield 2 (low settings 75% draw distance) not sure of frames but i got up 2 ranks which says its playble ....stay out of jets
I am currently unhappy with the performance i ran a 3dmark and my fill rates are ****e not any were near what they should be and the frame rates on most game are ****e! i have a thread running and am getting help to figure out what is the problem
Oh and my system is
1gb of ram
1.8ghz Turion 64 proccessor -
No offense, but it will be hard to expect anything more out of that GPU. The fact the you can play oblivion at all is impressive.
What settings are you using for WOW? At least 15-20 is playable. I briefly had a x200M in a similar configuration, and found the Never winter nights (original) only got 12-30 FPS depending on location and action with high setting, native res, no AA. -
On the other hand, click on my sig to see my X200 screen shot thread - I got those games running on an X200 with 64mb of fully shared memory, using DDR2 ram. From what you've described in your thread bob-stefanio, you are definitely under performing...no clues myself, but I do hope you sort it.
-
Between the responses in this thread and the other guy with his 200m overclocked to 600+MHz, I'm feeling a little embarrassed about my go6600 these days.
Seriously, you guys seem to have nearly as good performance with your machines. Either I'm doing something wrong, or the 200m is seriously underrated!
-
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
The Go6600 is way faster than the X200M. -
Yeah, I'm working on it... for some reason I can justify a weekend of takeout, beer, and movies costing $100+, but I can't justify skipping that weekend and picking up 1 GB of ram. I plan to upgrade soon though!
-
Hmm could the type of ram effect the performance of the x200m if so how can i check my ram and upgrading it could give me better performance since it uses that ram for the graphics? also the problem as one of the guys who were helping me said is the filrate is terrible should be about 600 but its curently 158 so is there anyway to improvet that tweaks maybe?
-
-
I dont have a 200m but i do disagree about someone saying oblivion isnt playable, PPl use oldlivion.....google it.
-
No I mean i have 1gb of ram im saying is the type of ram the speed you know the way there is diffrent speeds of ram will the speed make a diffrence if so how can i check what speed i have my single pixel fill rate is only at 158 when it should be at 600 could the SPEED of my ram be responsible

Hello another game running great:
1-Freedom Force VS The 3rd Reich.
Looks Great, runs great... 800x600 all effects MAX.
Great Game. -
2 More Games!!!
1-Tron 2.0 1024x768 all Effects MAX.
2- Project Eden 1024x768 all Effects MAX.
Tron 2.0 looks amazing, Project Eden looks very good, they both run 100% smooth.
Come on post your games!!!! -
I just bought BFME2 and it runs GREAT - NO LAG.
-
Ok people.... more games:
1-Unreal Gold -> Runs Great, graphics full!!!
2-Serious Sam Gold -> Normal 800x600 2xAA, Looks Great runs great.
3-MoonBase Commander -> Great game.
4-DeusEx game of the year edition, runs great, graphics full.
5-Unreal 2, 640x480, 4xAA, No shadows, Graphics on medium. Looks really good, and plays very smooth. -
Ok, one more game:
1-Half Life Source, 800x600, 2XAA, Everything on High, except the water reflection witch is on simple. But there is one big open place where the frames will drop to 15Fps, but other than that the Fps will be from 60-30.
Has anyone with a non memory dedicated X200M tried CC Generals? I just want to know how it runs....
Keep on posting -
I can't run Source decently so I uninstalled it..
I run
Pro Evolution Soccer 6 @ 800x600 high detail
Trackmania United @ 1024x768 on "Faster" mode
NHL 07 @ 800x600 full detail -
Hello friends, one more post....
SimCity 4, very nice game.
Monstar, my x200m has shared RAM and I'm running windows vista home edition.
So I don't have the best configuration, I find strange that you can't run Half Life Source, I don't mean Half Life 2, is the original one with redone graphics.
I have 1.5Gb of RAM, and a Dual Core 1.6Ghz.
So I don't have the best configuration, just to let you know.
But I found this X200M to perform very different from the posts on this forum, so don't go crazy about it.
Keep on posting.... I'm going to try Trackmania!!!! -
great news......
company of heroes runs fine on my comp with 125phisical memory
lol haha
bf2 demo is fine but not the original game
i dunno but it lagges like hell
(might be my internet...)
anyhow youll get to play games before 2005 games...
but 2006 to present games are you know....
some are horrible or not but mem makes differnece in this graphic card -
Hi there all ive just picked up a laptop over the weekend it has the radeon express 200m series graphics card inside it, Its 128mb dedicated with option of 256 enabled but only with 1.5gb ram, Spec of lap is 2.0ghz cpu 1gb ram, 100gb hd, was vista but i killed it and went down to home and its running much quicker then it was.
So far ive been able to play
Dawn of Warn 2007 version - Plays at 1024 on high every thing with little lag on some scences so dropped to mid every thing and runs very nice.
Counter Strike Source - Detects on high settings and will run high settings on offline mode, Runs nice on mid settings at again 1024 online, Drop to low if you like to play horrable jump maps thou 1 or 2 points where there appears to be some problems
Warlords - Installs and runs on mid to high every thing
Starwars Jedi Outcast - High every thing on 1024 again no lag any where
Delta Force 1, 2, and 3 Runs high settings every where but its a old game
Tiger Woods 2006 - Low to mid settings and 800*600 which still looks nice
Oooh and City of Heros on 1024 at mid settings with no lag what so ever. In team battles i found diabling the fx from others helps as well. Will update the settings one im able to get a new driver set to install.
Im running 6.14 but am yet unable to install a new version as it tells me i dont have the hardware :| stupied ati website ! -
Out of the box Oblivion isnt playable on 200m but if u use user made tricks and low poly, low textures made by modders as well as a great program like OLDBLIVION (google it), Id say its playable.
For other games try 3d analyzer.
Budget X200M guys unite! Let your tweaks be known!
