I can't wait to get to play Age of Conan. The game gets more and more amazing every day! Check out www.ageofconan.com and watch the videos, the game looks like it'll truly be the best MMORPG out. Also check out the Hyborian Insider videos on the community part of the site, PVP at this level is completely untouched by other games. Guilds build their own cities, and then in massive wars, you'll have to defend your guild's cities or try to take over other guild's cities (and treasures) or destroy them. How amazing does that sound? You're leveling up your character to help defend your own city or reign supreme over the lands! How many other games become that deep? Anyone in the beta want to comment on whether the game is worth $60 to try and then $15 a month? Before spending $60 on a game that I'll have to pay $15 each month to actually play, I'd want to atleast know how good it really is. A trial usually doesn't come out for a few months after a MMORPG comes out, and this game looks really worthwhile to be an early adopter and have high level characters before the noobs.

AoC isn't the first game to have player built cities that can be sieged - see Shadowbane. They had a lot of great ideas in SB and that was one of them but unfortunately it got bogged down by too much mirco management upkeeping the cities and as for defending/siegeing cities - most of it was 95% sitting/waiting/running around/poking your noses , the 5% pure action. That 5% was awesome but it was still only 5%. A good idea is only as good as its execution.
I'm cautiously optimistic about AoC. Some parts worry me a bit like the amount of instancing, class balance, pvp. Its one of those games that I'm pretty sure will be alot better a year after release once everything is smoothed out. Can pretty much apply that to any MMORPG. So waiting for a trial might not be such a bad idea or try getting into the beta.
I'm in the Open Beta so will be able to know more about the game soon but that only goes to lvl 13 max. -
I'd say wait for the demo. I missed the Beta weekend :-/

Not very optimistic about this one. With WoW being as poplar as it is and an expansion pack on the way and a truly loyal player base....Addon the fact Age of conan was given an M by the ESRB which will hurt it in overall sales with younger ages...And the fact the company behind it really isn't that established in the MMO field..(Or any good game lately on that matter)..I don't see this game ever ever surpassing 2 Mill players at best. Tackon the fact the promised DX10 visuals will not be supported at launch.

Find a friend that bought the collectors edition. It comes with 5 free guest passes.

The game will not beat WoW because WoW has low system requirements, is easy, and is more kid friendly. However, AoC is a better game, from what I have experienced in early access and open beta. Please do not state that Funcom is not established in the MMO field when they created Anarchy Online, one of the first MMOs. It was succesful for an MMO prior to WoW. Funcom has also pretty much been working only on AoC so that is a reason why there are no recent "good" games. They did make Dreamfall as well, which was a succesful single player game.

Just so you guys know, I already preordered AoC and have had an active account since the early access
.

So that explains why nobody likes you!

This game won't beat WoW, but that isn't its aim, judging by its system requirements. However, the game sold out all 110,000 of its $90 collector's editions, and Funcom sent out an initial shipment of 700,000, which it expects to sell out rather quickly. From what I've seen on the web, most of the people playing seem ecstatic about the game, but you can't really judge an MMO until its endgame, which probably hasn't been reached yet, and really won't be up and running until a large portion of players have hit it.
Besides, 2 million players is nothing to scoff at, just stop judging games by WoW. That'd be like comparing a games sales to the sales of the entire Mario franchise. It's the exception, not the rule. -

I should also mention, this game is not really a competitor to WoW.
It's a competitor to Guild Wars more than anything. I say that because they both appear to lack much PVE action, while WoW orients to the PVE crowd more than anything. And honestly, part of WoW's problem is their inability to balance classes in PVE AND PVP. They nerf a class because it's too powerful in PVP and they end up with a half useless PVE class...
Anyway, any word on the trial? -
I hate MMORPG`s, but Age of Conan was a big deal since last year...
I will wait for the trial(if ever) , since I couldn`t get in the Beta and while my internet isn`t slow, I sure as hell can`t download 15 gb for a beta just yet ...
Buy Age of Conan or Wait For the Trial?
