Should I wait for some laptops to come out with the 670m?
Is the performance difference actually worth it?
I was just thinking of buying one with a 570m, so your opinions would be welcome :)

Most of the time, the sound advice is to buy it when you need it but the 6 series is literally around the corner. I'd sit tight IMO. You can always make your decision then...it's not like this stuff gets MORE expensive over time right?

Thats some good advice. I just read in some site that the 600m series were just retouched 500m cards so I thought its pointless if its pretty much the same old card which utilizes less power. I guess I'll wait for a bit longer and see how it plays out :D...thanks pal

    I believe the 670M is a slightly overclocked 570M, but hardware-wise, they're the same.

the 670m is a 570m rebadged, so no need to wait. If you find a new laptop that interests you with a 570m go for it. No need to wait and pay more for the same.

Whatever little performance advantage the 670m might have on stock, you can easily overclock yourself for the same or more performance.

You must be living in a cave because there has been countless articles and threads about the 600m series. Simply, 640m 650m 660m, 680, will all be Kepler and be quite more powerful than Fermi per watt..I would not wait for 670m, it will not consume less power than the 570m, if anything it will consume more since it is the same card.

Quite more powerful eh? I'm okay with waiting if the performance difference is good enough. Why do you suggest I rather not wait?

    Thats an interesting thought. Thanks!

Because the changes that he stated between fermi and kepler does not apply to the 670m and the 675m. The 670m is just a 570m with higher clocks, and the 675m is just a 580m. So basically, the 670m=Fermi, so there's not point since you're basically buying the same card as a 570m, maybe with slightly higher clocks. Thus, why would you bother waiting?

Also 660m will not be as powerful as the 570m, and therefore if you want more power you'll have to wait until the 680m, word is not out when this will be released, some say the latest is June.

Oh right! Thats crazy. It seems I'd be better off buying a laptop with a 570m then....thanks pal, that was real helpful!

If you looking at a 570m vs 670m, there is no need to wait. Purchase the laptop with the 570m and overclock it. Bam, now you have a 670m. The only scenario I would wait would be comparing the 560m to the 660m. The 660m is not more powerful than the 570m even though it's Keplar. The only Keplar card outperforming the 570m is the 680m.

Now, if you want to wait for the 675m, that may be worth it for you. It will be slightly more powerful than the 570m. Nothing major though. ot enough to keep me from purchasing something now.

I would purchase a MSI or Clevo notebook. That way, if you ever want to upgrade the GPU, you can. Stay away from Asus as their GPU's are not upgradable. If you want to purchase something with the 570m now, you could always purchase something like the 680m down the road. It's a pretty easy swap at least with the MSI's.

Ah I hadn't actually thought about upgrading GPU's down the line.....how does that work exactly? If I buy the MSI for example, do I just upgrade the GPU by sending it over to their headquarters? And also, how do I tell if a laptop has an upgradable GPU?? Thank you so much!

I'd say the 670m will probably be like 10% better than the 570m probably not worth waiting. I'd got with a 570m if you need it now

You can either do it yourself or send it back to the re-seller you purchased it from. I know Gentech PC will sell you the GPU and install it for you. I don't really know if there is any way of knowing which laptop's have upgradable GPU's but I do know for a fact that MSI and Sager/Clevo laptops have swapable GPU's. I think Alienware does as well but don't quote me on that.

Yes, Alienware does too. Keep in mind, that will all of the manufacturers above that you listed vary from model to model. The higher end of course, will normally have upgradable GPU's.

Does anyone know if any resellers do upgrade? Lets say swapping 660M for 680M when it comes out and paying the difference in price?

Mythlogic does it for free (labor-wise) if you bought it the laptop from them.
