First of all, I'd like to thank everyone on this board for helping out, it really is appreciated. I've been browsing around, and a lot of my questions have already been answered. That said, I have a couple more...
I'm seriously considering buying a Precision M90 for school (college) next year, and I have a couple questions to ask.
RELEVANT SPECS:
- Intel Core Duo T7200 (@ 2.0 GHZ/667 MHz/4mb)
- NVIDIA® Quadro FX 2500M, 512MB (dedicated)
- 2 GB RAM
- 100 GB HD @ 7,200 RPM
I'm a gamer (to some extent), and I just wanted to make sure that the Quadro FX 2500M would work well for current-gen games, and upcoming games (predominantly things like Hellgate: London, and UT2K7). So will it? I've heard it's comparable to that of the GeForce 7900GTX, which is impressive.
Secondly, is the Precision really as quiet as I've heard when it comes to processing lots of data? My primary concern is how loud it is, as well as how hot it might get.
Lastly, is the WUXGA screen upgrade worth it? Currently, I have it configured with the WXGA+ display.
Thanks for all the help in advance.

Have you considered the Sager 5760?

OK I have the m90 and it has played everything I have thrown at it maxed out. The fx 2500m is the same as a 7900gtx. Heres a list of the games I have played on max settings with no lag.
Gothic 3
Company Of Heroes
Command And Conquer 3
Supreme Commander
Stalker
Medieval 2 Total War
Half Life 2 Original & Ep 1
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Oblivion
FEAR
Prey
Need For Speed Carbon & Most wanted
Dark Messiah
And plenty of older games. But these are the most demanding games on the market so you have nothing to worry about. As far future games it will handle just as good as the 7900gtx, so anything dx9 it will play well.
The screen res is more of a matter of pref. Go to Best Buy or any computer store near you and check out the screens to see which you like the most. I have just the base res and it is fine.
Lastly the Precision IS very quiet. The fans do run often but it is on low and you barely notice. Sometimes under heavy stress (ie. during intense fight sequences while gaming) the fans kick in to high and get loud but if you have the sound on you wont notice. But the bottom of the laptop does get hot quite often but its nothing to really worry about... its a 17 inch laptop you will not be using it on your lap often bc of its size and weight.
