This is a graphics card available on the same laptop. I could either choose the Nvidia geforce GTX 260M 1GB DDR3 or the Nvidia Quadro FX2700M 512M GDDR3
Is the second one better by a large margin or is there no point paying an extra £100 to get it?
They can both play WoW and Aion on max graphics right?

Aion? We'll see when it's out. -
The Quadro series are optimized for workstations. They are better at doing things like 3D rendering and CAD than gaming. For games, the GTX 280m is a better card.
-
If you plan to do mostly gaming then you want the GTX260M. The Quadro is directed more at those who will be doing work with graphics as a first priority.
Edit: KimoT beat my post by 1 min lol. -
I have the GTX 260M graphics card on my NP8662 and I can easily run WoW on max settings with 30+ fps (this is in dalaran and tons of addons on). I'm also pretty sure it can run Aion on at least high settings. I can't say anything about Cataclysm because it just got announced and Blizzard may upgrade the graphics to look like Crysis lol.

8800m GTS, can max out AION and WOW, so that gtx 260M will have no problems at all. Don't get a Quadro FX unless you wanna do graphic work, 3d modeling etc.
-
The GTX260m is more powerful than the FX2700m. The only reason why the Quadro is more expensive is because it's a rarer, less common option (though not a bad one if used for business apps.).
-
GForce is optimized for DirectX graphics, the Quadro is optimized for OpenGL graphics. Games are built on DirectX, so GForce is the way to go. My guess as to why Quadro is more expensive is that it has a smaller market, so they don't get the same economies of scale that the GF lines get.

FX 2700M = 9700M GTS = much weaker than the GTX 260M

Ah thanks alot people! Youve just saved me £100!
Im what you would call a computer noob lol.
By how much is this graphic card better?
