When i first got this game, i copied the file from the CD to my computer, just in case i lost the CD. And in fact, I did loose it. So ive used daemon tools before to "use a CD" with Flight Sim 2004, And BF 2. But with C&C 3, i get this strange message:

    Ive never gotten that before.

Any suggestions (its not illegal, i bought the game! )

Newer games have emulation detection features built in. You would need a modified game files (also known as cracks or hacks) to play the game without the cd or wit emulation software.

All No-CD/DVD cracks are the same.

Get the Crack file(s) that corresponds with the version of your game.

and overwrite the original ones in your installation directory.

This is not illegal activity or discussion.

Its protecting your investment. I used to use my original CD's like a moron until they cracked due to overusage.... then I realize that No-CD cracks were available.

Now I own all my games... but there's no way in hell that I am letting my game discs become damaged... again... because they do not have warranties... and do not get replaced for free (I know, I tried to get them replaced)

So it may be gray area (like everything else), but not illegal as long as you own the game, its for personal/educational use... and you are not using it for commercial use.

I have done enough pre-law and business-law to know. :)

I find no-cd cracks incredibly useful. For several years I would make iso files of my game disks and mount them to play my games without the CD. It was such a waste!! A 2GB iso file when the only thing the game needs to see is that you own the disk!

I never steal games, all that does is hurt the industry and result in crappier games. Regardless, if I own a game or library of games, I expect to be able to play them. I don't want to take my CD case around every place I go just to play Warcraft III or FEAR! In reality, I still DO carry that case around because some games just don't have NO-CD cracks.

This is one of those cases where I absolutely love the STEAM system. I really wish I could register games I own that I didn't buy off of steam but are sold by them so I could just install/use it through steam instead of my disk.

For instance, I own Civ4 (bought it from amazon), which is sold on the steam store, but cannot figure out a way to register it with their service. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Steam should have an option to register a product. And I believe linking to the no-CD cracks is a no-no on this forum, I never said it was illegal (but even that varies depending on where you live).

At one point in Time, I asked for a no CD crack for FEAR, and Chaz shut it down, because he said that in involved illegal activity... at least i thought that is what he said.

Oh I have the same problem with the game when I ripped it and tried to start it from hard disk. Just download YASU at http://yasu.copybase.ch/ it basically cloaks daemon so the game does not recognize the emulation software

We have an illegal torrent downloader here... :p
Even if you "copied the game file to the computer," that's still illegal.

Just go to www.gameburnworld.com (or was it gameburnworldS) and type in tiberium wars, and download one of the cracks, and replace/overwrite the original one with it.

How about if we all just stop buying games and start downloading torrents, and soon we'll have no games because the game makers will not make any money because nobody buys their fricking games.

I own all of my games, but at the same time if I scratch or screw up a CD/DVD I don't want to pay the same amount just to have the functionality back. I own a license to the game already. I shouldn't have to pay the same amount to have the functionality back because the software developer made it a condition for me to have the CD/DVD inserted. I hate that aspect more than anything. I only have 1 optical drive...don't make me switch for EVERY friggin game.

So what are you trying to say? No-CD patches are OK to use? Of course they're ok to use. But downloading torrents of the game is not.

Have you tried the security options that come with Daemon? IIRC, they should be in the menu if you right click on the icon in the system tray and can emulate many CD security features that can prevent Daemon from working correctly. This fixed a problem I was having with the Empire Earth ISO I ripped from my CD.

I remember the frustration when command conquer didn't work in my desktop computer(which is about 100km away from me) because it had daemon tools installed, I uninstalled it and it still not run, it gave me a wish I had downloaded that game. I cracked it and it run

At least it didn't gave me problems when I finally got my laptop to play, even with daemon installed

daemon tools is still a more ideal solution. your local game client files won't be altered and therefore you can expect patches and updates to work properly. hit or miss if you have changed the game files. of course, you can back up the files you change, but you will have to redownload new cracks every time a patch comes out.

just use a mini image if the complete image is too large to be stored reasonably. you can find them from the same websites that offer the hacked exe's.

you might need something to cloak daemon tools, though, because it is often black listed. (some people do steal games. don't be one of those people)

If you have any programs that uses CD/DVD copying, then exit it.

I have Sony's Clone CD software, and I have to close it before gaming, because it says about emulation software.

    Nvm, someone already solved it.

I'm a totaly noob when it comes to these "cracks". I noticed that there are several versions of the download on the site reference above. I simply have the normal retail version of C&C3. Which one do I use? Also, is there anything else I need to do besides run the download once I get it?

Thanks in advance for your help! :D

Theres no "normal version" of the game.

Its the version that the game is updated to.

If you have yet to update the game, then you have a version 1.0

After you download it, you extract the files into the game directory and overwrite the file(s) when asked.

    Thats it.

if you are playing online, you must update the game first, then use the No-CD "game fix" that corresponds with the version of the updated game.

Its not rocket science... its very logical.
