Yep the demo is out. Give it a try people. What do you think of the new C&C game?
My bro tried it on his high end gaming laptop and it was somewhat laggy on the highest quality.
-
-
Ah yes, the demo, I will try it out. Downloading it right now. I just finished CoH and I need to find another RTS to play anyway, and I can't say I was super crazy about Supreme Commander. Once I try it, I will post some pics running on the desktop in my sig.

I liked what I saw, but it didn't blow me away. Its base on the Battle for Middle Earth 2 engine. from the videos it looked like a texture and lighting upgrade of Tiberian Sun, nothing new. But I am a fan boy of C&C, I'll buy it lol

Wow! nice size for a demo download, 1.2 gigs.
direct links for downloads:

Let's see how it goes, but all of the graphic improvements were all based from the C&C:Generals engine first. The BFME1&2 games were based off of the Generals engine as well.
I have every C&C game, and have beta tested Red Alert 2 (w/ Yuri's Revenge expansion), I expect this to be up to par with those titles.
Although to win, it always felt like you have to make the "one army to rule them all" as quick as possible. -
All maxed out @ 1280x768 on my X1600 DDR3 so I guess it's quite nice. And about the game all I can say: the King is back!!
-
This has to be the BEST singleplayer demo ever... It's got 1 tutorial + 2 GDI missions + 1 skirmish map (2 players map). You can only play as GDI VS Nod in the skirmish map by default but people has already figured out how to play as Nod VS GDI as well...xD You can even choose all the difficulty settings and all the AI behaviours (such as balanced, rusher, turtle etc...) This demo is definitely worth downloading!!!
-
After grabbing the Supreme Commander demo and being impressed... Then grabbing this demo.. I have to say, CNC3 is gonna get my money.
Shiny!!
And playing it on my lappy (see sig) was pure bliss! -
-
I've been in head over heels love with C&C games since they came out.
PS: This game had 0 lagg for me. -

i freakin love that demo.. i am totally gonna preorder it! and you acctually have to use tactics and stuff its great
-
Gameplay-wise, it doesn't seem like anything special. (Tactics? Not compared to DoW or CoH)
But hey, it's fun! It's got Kane in it. And Orcas. I'll buy it -
I would get this game over Supreme Commander. CC just seems to have more random fighting compared to some really hardcore strategy games like DoW (but I still like that game too).
-
Actually there is major strategy on small town USA.
Hard Comp kept killing me by barricading the center area of buildings. I had to build artillery units to bomb them all out from afar. By the time I killed his main base I discovered he had a well defended expansion in the corner and was doing fly-bys on my harvestors. I managed to dig pretty deep into his expansion but then he nuked my juggernauts that were sieging his base (my only hope i had no economy). He nuked my siege units!
Common AI isn't supposed to be THAT good =/ -
My hardware isn't good enough to play this game
How does it compare to C&C generals? -
Far better than Generals and Zero Hour!
PS: It only took me 10min to download the demo -
Yea it looks a lot better compared to Zero Hour, especially building damage and stuff. A lot of heat blur!
-
I've been playing Supreme Commander since Beta stages, and more recently the demo. I really enjoyed it; indeed I thought it was just the direction the RTS genre needed to go, after a several-year drought without any really landmark RTS games. I basically ignored C&C 3 because, well, EA had screwed up the franchise with Generals and I expected the mistake to be repeated with Tiberian Wars.
It was not. Based on the demo, and some recent preview articles, Tiberian Wars promises to be the best RTS game in years. It takes the old (pre-Generals) C&C forumla, and then improves on it in every way it could be improved on while remaining true to its predecessors. It handles everything right: build queuing/multiple production structures, great blend of micro- and macro-management, powerful AI, beautiful but low-impact engine, and full, proper widescreen support. And need I mention the expected cheesy FMVs, with Joe Kucan as Kane? I have to say EA's going to be stealing more money from me for this one, if only to see how they justify bringing Kane back from the dead again. -
To play as NOD:
"Just go to the race select bit, put your cursor over NOD and then hit 'N' on your keyboard. Then left click and it'll switch to NOD. You can use the same method with 'G' to switch the AI to GDI." (IGN) -
I wouldn't call it the best RTS in years. CoH or DoW have to fight for that spot. But it certainly looks like it could become the best C&C RTS ever (and maybe you could say the best "traditional" RTS in years).
-
I have been downloading this thing for about 10 hours now and its only 25% complete!
I downloaded it off of the c&c site directly.
Is this normal? -
Get it somewhere else. There are lots of mirrors for it now.
I actually grabbed it from fileplanet, after waiting in line for 40 minutes, the download itself was running at over 900 kiloBYTES (yes bytes) per second. Zoom!!
One thing SupCom did get right thought- "Repeat Build order"
OMG that is a time saver. I don't want to keep going back and telling my factories what to build!! -
**** i remember the original tiberium sun, and firestorm, those were awesome asside from the 10 some year old gfx.
-
Game looks and plays great. So far I still like Dawn of War better, for now at least. We'll see what the full game offers when it comes out.
Anywho, it ran on reasonably high settings on my x700 at 1680x1050. I'll post some screenies in a little bit. -
-
Where are all of you guys downloading this from?
-
Check the first page of posts, friend
Theres 3 links
-
Yup, I am liking this game. I really like how they put the display on the right side of the screen instead of the bottom like Generals and CoH. It feels easier to look at the map to me like that, especially on a WS.
-
Nice game I was able to play it 1920x1200 full settings. I'd buy this game over SupCom any day, I'm a RTS buff though, so I think I'll get SupCom too. I can't say I like giving money to EA, but for C&C it's definatly worth it. C&C has such a deep story. I like SupComs engine better, but you can't miss Tiberium Wars.
I've been waiting for this game for a long time (back when it was a myth). Westwood made the best RTS's ever. RA2 was great, and I'm getting RA3 (if they ever make it). I hated how EA messed up the C&C series with a crap (IMO) game like Generals.
So anyway, great game, great demo. Looking forward to it ALOT (I usually don't buy video games but TW is a must buy, I just wish so much that Westwood didn't sell to EA :\ ...) -
What drivers are you using?? -
No AA, medium terrain, high unit detailing, high effects, no shadows (Its a killer).
-
Hmm ok, I think I'll have to wait for full version, reinstall my system and than check again. 1280x768 with AAx2 (or x4) and all set to high (without shadows) should work a like a charm, but it's not
-
I played it at 1920x1200 with 8aa and super sampling and it stayed at the capped 30fps on all my matches.
-
Your machines have a lot more power than mine and Mastha's
I'm using omega drivers as well. -
I'm having problems downloading the demo off the 3 sites on the previous page and off the official website. After about 250 mb the download shuts off. any suggestions?
-
also check out fileplanet for the C&C3 Demo
-
-
The links that Gophn gave are good. They worked for me, and it took me about 2 hours to download them aswell. I do quite like the game, its really good, and its gone and taken the some of gameplay from the old Command and Conquer game, and built on it with much better graphics.
-
I've actually found that a LOATHE fileplanet. Try www.filefront.com instead
It helps that I know a guy that works there, but it's a much more friendly site.
-
Took me about 40 min to download on TW cable. Played it last 2 days, alot of fun, but can't figure out how to have troops dig in. Brings back alot of memories from CC2.
-
This is insanely fun. Literally. And now I feel like my laptop was a good investment after all (playing it a max-all settings...*drool). Im so getting this when it comes out.
Anyone catch whatsherface from Battlestar Galactica in the opening cinematics? -
How do you think this game will run on my V1Jp? (T7200, X1700, 1Gb DDR2 667)
-
Bunch of screens in my post -
It is not possible to beat Brutal Balanced Enemy
-
Its possible beating that brutal enemy, but you need to be very good. The key is to get as much defence up as possible, and to get a refinery planted at one of the other two tiberium reserves.
-
Seems like the computer totally out resources you by taking over all 4 of the tiberium spikes =(. Then they churn out a crap load of tanks and rocket launchers and swarm you from all sides. Its really really tough.
-
On way to stop that from happening is to completely destroy the tiberium spikes, but then you basically limit yourself from sending a pile of tanks into their base. If you've played on slightly less harsh enemies, you will notice their bases extend outward, and the only stucture that remains in the centre, is the MCV. Take that out, and destroy their bases from the inside out.
-
So anybody beat computer hard yet?
-
Just a data point: I run almost everything on high settings on my laptop, at 1280x800, with 2xAA, and it runs very nicely
No overclock on the video card, either
