my co worker at work gave me his copy of command and conquer:the first decade(that may be the problem right there) but anyway i try installing the games and i get a disk error/ I/O message kind of thing. im guessing the problems is the disk, but is there any way of fixing it?

I know this may sound a little silly (and im guilty of it) but you do know the C&C first decade is a DVD right? IF you do, then you're not as silly as i am : )

Does it actually start to install or just throw an error once you put it in your drive?

Are there any visible scratches on the disc?

    I dunno...do you have the booklet w/ the CD-keys.

    That's odd...stops partway through.

Hmm, I have no idea sorry.

The first decade? Is it the old fashioned C&C games made for DOS?

If it's not a compatibility issue, then you can try ripping the DVD data into an image file, then mounting the image file using Daemon Tools or another software. I think the disk may be damaged somehow though...did you ask your friend if he could use it?

It's not compatiability, all then older C&C games are either already compatiable with XP, or have been patched. All the games in the first decade set work with XP out of the box.

I got that when attempting to install Hl2 GOTy the first time.

My advice? Keep putting it in until it installs!
