To say that the laptop you're looking at is weak would be an understatement. It's really weak. That said, the specs listed for that program are also really low, so you should be able to play it. Don't expect to play any other mainstream game made after 2003.
-
I'm not really in the market for a massively powerful one, mostly used for the type of game I listed above. Is there any other laptop/notebook you'd recommend around a similar or slightly higher price?
-
It's not just that the other laptop isn't massively powerful, it's that it was already budget-level when it came out, and it's components came out 3 years ago. It's literally at the very bottom. There are netbooks with more power. Try posting in this thread for purchasing suggestions What Notebook Should I Buy?
-
I'm looking to buy this Sager that I've found to fit snugly in my budget.
CPU: i5-560M
GPU: nVidia GT 425
RAM: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz Dual Channel Memory
Display (resolution): 1920 x 1080
I also have the option of going with 1366x768, but I'm leaning towards the 1080p
I was wondering if these specs can run Crysis + Crysis 2 in medium settings, and Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet 2, C.O.D. 7, and FEAR 3 in high settings. -
It will run Crysis on medium at 1366x768 easy, but not at 1080p.
-
Yeah, I don't mind playing games at lower resolution. Would it be okay if I have the 1080p monitor, but play at 1366x768 resolution?
-
The image would be stretched, making it appear extremely blurry.
-
Even if it is on a 15-16" monitor? I've read some posts where people say that they can't tell the difference.
-
It still might, since it is being stretched. I can't say from personal experience though, so I could be wrong.
-
These are the options I have in the notebooks:
Sager NP5135 (Built on Clevo B5130M) $881
CPU: i5-560M
GPU: nVidia GT 425 (1gb)
RAM: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz Dual Channel Memory
Display (resolution): 1920 x 1080 or 1366x768
What I love about this laptop is that it has a dedicated numberpad
Sager NP2180 (Built on Compal NBLB2) $861
CPU: i5-560M
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5650 (1gb)
RAM: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz Dual Channel Memory
Display (resolution): 1920 x 1080 only
This laptop is just $20 cheaper, but I hear build quality of this notebook isn't as good.
Which ones will be able to run Crysis + Crysis 2 in medium settings, and Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet 2, C.O.D. 7, and FEAR 3 in high settings.
I don't mind using lower resolution for Crysis and Crysis 2, but will they be able to handle the other list of games at 1080P on high or medium to high settings?
I'll have to look into this more regarding the playing games of lower resolutions on higher resolution screens. -
The 5650 is the better of those two cards, bout they both suck for 1080p gaming. You'll have to lower the resolution for all of them, and high settings is ambitious for all of them.
-
medium-high to high is ambitious even for COD 7, FEAR3, or Resident Evil 5?
-
RE5 might be able to do it at 1366x768, but not probably not Black Ops and definitely not FEAR 3 (especially considering that it's not even out yet and we don't even know the system requirements).
-
I'm coming off of an Asus F9S which had a 128mb 8400m, 2.2 Ghz Core2Duo, 2 GB of RAM. So as of right now, anything will look good, lol
-
I'm sure it will. lol
-
i'd get the NVIDIA notebook... but u'd only be able to game on 1366X768 so get the 1366X768 screen... full HD would be a waste.

Howwwz ittt?
well, I already ordered my system, speked in sig.
1)my intention is to play older games, especially GTA IV, will I be able to?
2)does it matter that game specifies Windows XP or Vista since I'm getting Windows 7?
3) would I have been better off with the i5 version of the same laptop?
4) is there a game which would be an excellent test drive for my machine, in other words, one that would test the limits of my hardware in order to find any faults immediately?
5) other games I am interested in are Fallout 3, Grid, DragonAge: Origins, Halflife 2, Call of Duty, Prototype, Hawx2, Snoopy vs Red Barron, BioShock,
6) I went to gamestop to look at PC games, they told my they dont sell them because the regestration is tied to your 1 machine. Then I went to amazon.com and they not only offer sell used games to me but also to buy used games from me.
So if gamestop is rite, then when I upgrade my computer in a couple of years, then I cant take my games with me. that sucks I still play GTA SanAndreas Once on a random PS2 I come across once in a while.
Im even more confused than usual!
Help me NoteBookReviewForum, your my only hope -
GTA IV is going to have some issues on anything with less than a quad-core, but it'll run fine for the most part. All of those games will run on at least medium with some high settings perfectly fine.
-
Thank you, seems I should have looked at this thread before purchasing, ah well.
Anyways,
will they run on Windows seven even though spect for win XP or Vista? -
Looking at this laptop:
CPU: i7 - 620m
GPU: Nvidia GTX 460M
RAM: 6GB DDR3 DDR3 1333MHz
Display (resolution): 1920 x 1080
Planing to play fallout vegas, black opps and starcraft 2 -
And don't beat yourself up over it. You can't max it out, but it should run smoothly most of the time.
Mostly high settings on all of those. You can run almost any game with that card. -
Well, the high resolution will help me when writing papers and doing research, as I usually have two windows open side by side. Although I will be gaming on this notebook, I will also be doing school work. Should I still go for the 1366x768?
-
It's okay to go with the 1080p, as long as you don't mind gaming at 1366x768.
-
will windows 7 play xp and vista games?
thanks Droko G. -
Windows games are windows games. Yes, of course it will work.
-
HEyyyy Seeeker......
what do you say to this other question..............?? -
As the user below says, Windows is windows. The only thing you might run into is having compatibility issues, which you can actually right click and go to properties to adjust to your liking. Disclaimer, SC:BW goes wacko and inverts the colors in Vista/Win7, so you have to do a couple things.
-
Usually, games have something like 10 activations. You can install them on a new computer no problem. You can also re-sell them, though your supposed to uninstall them from your computers first.
-
Sweet, thats good news
Do you guys think GTA IV sucks for pc as hard as many on some forums think, or might they (R*) fixed it? -
From all of you guys/gals experience with Fallout 3, what would be the best settings for a 256mb ( DDRII ) X1600 Mobility powered by a 2ghz T7200 and 3gb ram? I'd like View Distance to be maxed out for navigational purposes so I understand this will limit many other factors but it's how I prefer to roll.
I've never actually beat the game so I intend to try to play it through this time and hopefully I will be able to pull myself away after single 2 - 3 hr sessions this time otherwise Ill just have to resell the game again if I can't control myself this time :-/ -
From what I understand, it's poor coding (which has not been updated) makes it much more CPU intensive that it should be. Although the i3 you have should be adequate for the vast majority of games out there, it may have trouble with GTA4. I don't know from personal experience though, the horrible reviews of the PC version scared me off, I just picked it up for the 360 instead.
-
Low on everything. Your GPU doesn't even come close to the minimum required specs for the game, so I'd be surprised if it will run at all.
-
Ouch... Yeah, it probably won't even start up. :S
-
thanks Seeker.
-
i have nvidia GEFORCE GO 7300 128mb is this graphics card any good for gaming etc
-
Hey, I was wondering at what settings I would be able to play Company of Heroes Online. Thanks in advance!
Its the T510, I couldnt really find any information as it is not a gaming laptop, but I am hoping to be able to play a game or two on the road, even with low settings would be nice.
CPU: Intel Core i5-560M Processor (2.66GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz)
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro NVS3100M Optimus Graphics 512MB
RAM: 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory
Display (resolution): 15.6" HD+ (1600 x 900) 16:9 aspect -
The Quadro Q3100M is the same as the regular Nvidia 210M, and is very weak. It's still better than the minimum requirements (for that game), so you should have no trouble playing it on low.
-
Can the m17x run Crysis maxed out (1920x1200) very high details and x8 AA ?
specs in sig -
Can any computer do that? I think that's a better question...
-
well what about at least 1920x1200 high details no AA ?
-
That should be possible, perhaps even with 2xAA.
-
No, it's horrible. It was already a low-end part when it was released nearly 5 years ago. You won't be able to play any modern game with it. It is enough for Windows Aero, but that's about it. Sorry
-
You can run Crysis, no problem, just don't expect 60fps.
To get a good barometer, look up benchmarks for the desktop 5850 running Crysis. You should see similar results.
As a matter of fact, here's one:
-
Hey all, was wondering if my Studio could run Fallout 3 without any frame rate issues (I have no problem playing it on low settings). Specs are in the sig.
-
It'll run low no problem. You should be able to get medium out of it unless you're running 1080p.
-
Hey, I was wondering if my system can run metro 2033
i5 450m
5870m
4GB RAM
Thanks! -
thanks alot guys will try my friend's game and hopefully it works
-
Good, but not great. You won't be getting good results at 1080p.
Check this. -
