There's been another leak from ATI, it contains display driver 8.740.0.0000, new control panel, support for Intel switchable graphics, AMD chipset drivers, and a new control panel based video encoder.

    http://strags.com/ has it. Supports desktop/mobile.

For comparison, CATALYST 10.3 has driver version 8.712.0.0000 so this is MUCH newer..

Switch to DX9 if your having long load times, I have a SSD and the load times were unbearable before I switched to DX9. Basically no visual difference either.

DX9 causes bad artifacts for me like flashing textures.

Now maybe thats gone with the profile update I got the other day. I got used to the loading times though they are not too bad.

I did change to DX10 from DX11 for fps boost, I was hitting 20's in some of the really bad weather conditions. I also changed frame to render ahead to 1

If this is real, shouldn't ati be focusing on making one solid driver, 10.4, instead of cloning 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6?

So.. wait, support for Intel switchable graphics? Does this mean that any laptop with an ATI GPU and an integrated Intel GMA is suddenly going to become a laptop with switchable graphics, or am I just getting overexcited?

Sweet to see switchable graphics. :)
    Take that Nvidia!

Just curious if its a seamless switch like Optimus or the crappy solution i seen on older notebooks.

ATi has had this option for quite a while. They even have a great system when you use AMD CPU, Chipset and GPU.
    - Since 2008, AMD has provided switchable graphics that dynamically change without any reboot needed depending on power usage.
    - But because of Intel's anti-trust method of business, majority of Notebooks do use Intel and Intel did not want this feature enabled on most Intel/ATi notebooks. This is why not many know about even though since HD3400 this has existed. Intel did cooperate with AMD to create this feature, but does not mean they wanted to give AMD more attention by having it actually enabled...
    - If you have AMD Chipset and AMD GPU, then AMD has another feature, combining the power of your discrete GPU with the IGP on the Chipset to boost performance. A miniature X-Fire.

Anyways, having this option doesn't mater unless the manufacturer of our notebook enabled it or not.

So just because the i7 on my G73 has an integrated GPU and my HD5870 supports switchable graphics (believe 5xxx do), it doesn't matter since Asus did not enable this feature. So don't get overexcited.

Actually it does. Mobile i7 have the graphics unit integrated right into the chip. Paired with HM55, it's a two chip graphics system.

wan't the integrated GPU on the chipset? so if Asus G73 has HM55 chipset , it should have the integrated GPU which is disabled..

No. The IGP has always been on the CPU chip (not die, though) in the i5 series (and the i7-620M).

that would depend on the video card in the vaio in question.

if its a newer ati card it should work.

That can just mean they will not supply the drivers if its a standard dedicated card it will work.

If its some special preparatory part then maybe it wont work.

Installed these drivers also on the G73JH and the load times are finally normal for BFBC2. Also with Furmark the stuttering is gone.

Some say they run cooler for them but it don't get that.

I use Driver Cleaner. Driver Sweeper does nothing, just run CCleaner and that will do more than what Driver Sweeper does. Driver Sweeper is a joke I believe, no seriously a joke, a bad one since I'm not laughing.

Yeah for me also driver sweeper does not seem to work. Driver Cleaner does but since its not free anymore I do not have it.

For ATI I just install over the top of my old drivers, the official instructions from ATI say to do this and it seems to work well. I would only resort to cleaning if I had problems.

In the past I always cleaned and it gave me more problems than it solved saying I was missing files I needed for install.
